“Meghan is great!! She helped us out last minute and took great care of our pets. She was communicative, thorough, and most importantly, kind to our pets, & we could enjoy our time away without worrying how they were doing. Highly recommend :)”
“Lee was very hands on and attentive with my kitties while I was away! He followed the detailed instructions and went above and beyond to clean up some accidents. He even learned how to give my kitty an insulin shot and was very communicative with me. Thanks Lee!”

“We are so appreciative of Lila always helping us out with our girls, especially during a holiday weekend. She always does a fantastic job! She keeps us informed, sends us pics, and even takes in any packages even though it’s definitely not part of taking care of the cats! She’s awesome!”

“Thane was great with Rat! They took the time to understand his personality and routine during our meet and greet which put me at ease. I’d definitely hire them again :)”

“Thank you, Robin, for taking great care of our elderly cat and our home. While we were away we knew that he was being fed, receiving his medicine, and getting some love. When we returned home, everything was clean and organized (he’s a messy eater!). We will definitely contact you again next time we need a pet sitter.”

“Erin was such a reliable and attentive cat sitter! I was relieved to see her details and specifics of the boys behavior with drop in visit notes. It helped me know my boys were in great hands. Thank you again Erin!!!!”

“Jeffrey is super reliable and responsive. We always feel comfortable heading out of town knowing our three kids are in the best of hands. They have a complicated feeding routine, and Jeffrey handles it like a pro!”

“Holland saved the day for us with a very last minute request to feed our babies. She did exactly what was asked and sent a pic too! I will definitely have her back!”

“Erica was a huge help to us watching our dog and looking after our garden!! From all the photos my dog looked so happy and comfortable. Would definitely book again!”

“Audrey was great!! We arranged several drop-ins during a weekend we had to leave town on short notice. Audrey's updates throughout the weekend made us feel that our cat was being looked after by someone who really cared about her wellbeing. We will absolutely book with Audrey again!”

About: I am comfortable taking care of dogs of any age, especially senior dogs. I have experience dog walking, and I walk shelter dogs through the SPCA. I am a student home for the summer, so I have plenty of time for your pet's care! I am available morning, afternoon, and evening. If you have a dog with high energy needs, I am the perfect fit for long walks or even runs! I have very open availability, so I can visit multiple times per day if needed.
About: I have had nearly lifelong experience with dogs and cats, starting my care in middle school and continuing through high school and beyond. I've always owned and cared for my own dogs, briefly working at a doggie daycare, gaining valuable insight into various pet care needs. Currently, I’m also caring for my own cats, including one with asthma, which has taught me to be especially attentive to their health and well-being. Whether it's being careful with puppies or providing senior care, my dedication to each pet's unique needs ensures they receive the best possible care. I am currently a full-time Graduate student, however most of my time is very flexible in that regard, and I am particularly free on weekends! Whether in my home or yours, safety, trust, and most of all a comfortable environment, are my top priorities. I take great care to create a space that is secure and stress-free for my pets, often having to pay close attention to their specific needs. With a vigilant eye and a focus on detail, I tailor my approach to each pet, ensuring that I adapt to their unique circumstances—whether it's managing a health condition, following a routine, or simply providing a familiar and safe atmosphere!

“Maggie took such great care of my kittens while I was away! The transparent communication--pictures, updates, videos, etc. was FABULOUS! They were in great hands with her! AND I would very much recommend to anyone in the area looking for the same level of care!”

“Fantastic cat sitting service provider. My cat came down with a sudden allergy just before I left on vacation. She was willing to apply medicine on him each day and provided updates and even drove to pick up a cat medicine that was mailed to the wrong address. She’s very nice and friendly and my skeptical cat warmed up to her quickly. Would absolutely recommend.”

“Emili quickly earned the trust of my cat Midge & me! She was able to administer medication & played with Midge loads. Will definitely be asking her to cat sit again!”

“I had Grant take care of my two kitties. He followed my directions to a tee and sent me updates of how my cats were doing, along with photos. I feel safe and reaasured with Grant taking care of my cats. I will be using his services in the future.”

“Ashely was so great! She helped me out last minute, and took amazing care of my dog. She sent pictures during every check in, and I felt super comfortable being away and leaving Ruby in her care!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond
Amanda was so great! She was so communicative and provided plenty of pictures & fun info about her visits with Moose, my cat. Everything was in perfect order when I came back home, and Moose was clearly happy with the attention she received! I would absolutely book with Amanda again!
Cat really went above and beyond to make sure my cats were happy, healthy, and loved while I was away! They both needed medication 2x/day, as well as food, water and litter changes, and she took this head on, kept them comfortable and sent me lots of updates and photos. She even went to my pharmacy to get the meds refilled because I forgot to do so before the trip. She was also flexible with last minute date changes and left me some really sweet polaroids of my kitties. I would definitely recommend her for any pet needs you may have!

Maria and Luis did a great job of keeping our cats fed, happy and loved. This was our first time using Rover and I am so grateful our first experience was so smooth and easy with Maria and Luis. They arrived on time, sent multiple photos and updates and it was clear they knew how to work with our shy and energetic cats.

Kaleigh was so great! She was super reliable, had great communication and took great care of our cat, Otis, while we were away. She went above and beyond on several things and is someone you can trust. Would absolutely recommend her to anyone and would definitely rebook with her again!

Mary is the best! So very attentive, compassionate, brilliant and tidy. She knows how to ease my worries about my senior fur babies by sending detailed updates and gorgeous pictures of them. Im terrible with my long list of demands and last minute bookings and she’s right there, being flexible and accommodating at every step. Mary is a remarkable human being ❤️

Kade took excellent care of our cats and provided the best pictures and detailed updates, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. This was our second time booking with Kade, and we’d happily book again. We highly recommend Kade to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richmond. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
