“My cats were so happy and well taken care of with Lee. I appreciate and loved his daily check in notes and photos. My shy cat has a hard time with strangers but even she became comfortable being around him. He kept our kitten entertained and happy. I would definitely recommend Lee to watch anyone’s pets and will definitely be booking with him again.”

“Abigail was awesome! Very communicative, sent 6 photos from her visit with our cat (some of the best pictures we have of her), and just an overall pleasure to work with. Could not recommend her more!”

“Sydney provided fantastic care for my two cats. One of them needed medication twice a day which she administered seamlessly. She communicated well with me the whole time and seemed to really care about my cats while I was away!”

“Jonathan was so easy to work with and took excellent care of our dog! He was very flexible with some last-minute plan changes, and he even spent more time than required to make sure our dog got some play time.”

“Thane was so great with my slightly psychotic and very special needs dog (old and with a bite history). They were so patient with my dog's stubbornness and various quirks and also successfully managed my cats, who are always trying to get out the door. There were no issues and I really believe it was the best possible experience for all my pets.”
“Rebooked with Elijah! He provided detailed and thoughtful updates while caring for my four cats. Elijah was able to get my scaredy cats to engage and play. We will definitely hire Elijah in the future!”

“Aubrey was very professional and clearly loves animals. She took great care of our cat, and I really appreciated her thorough updates on him! He really warmed up to her and he’s usually quite shy. She even left a new toy for him I know he will love! It felt great knowing he was in such great hands. Thank you!”

“Sidney is great! Super friendly and not bothered by my wacky dogs and their little issues. She arrived right on time and sent cute pics! Will definitely book with her again.”
“Daniel was great! He went above and beyond to take care of Lainey while I was gone. Taking care of her, cleaning up after her, and making sure she felt safe and cared for while staying home alone for the week. He was even nice enough to drop off some cookies for me and my girlfriend on his last visit. An extremely nice gesture, having known we both contracted Covid during our trip (it’s the little things 🙂). I will definitely request service from him again if he’s available in the future and strongly recommended others do the same. 10/10 dog sitting!”

“Teresa was excellent with my large, often anxious, cat Sherlock. Upon my return I found a happy Sherlock with none of the usual stress symptoms. Teresa also communicated frequently and sent photos of all the snuggles and other antics Sherlock got up to each day. It was great to see my cat happy while I was away!”

About: Hi! I’m Eliza, I recently finished grad school at VCU and am doing some freelance creative work currently, so I have a very flexible and available schedule to help with your pets! I've loved animals my whole life and have grown up with dogs. When I was younger, I helped raise and train one of our dogs from puppyhood, where I learned how to care for a dog's daily needs. Four years ago, I adopted my first cat, and caring for her has given me plenty of experience with feline care as well. Whether it's walking dogs, dropping in for feedings, playing with energetic pets, scooping litter and refreshing water, or just keeping pets company, I'll care for your animals as if they were my own. I know every pet has their own personality and routine, and I'm happy to adapt to whatever helps them feel comfortable and cared for. I am post grad school and currently doing freelance work from home, so my schedule is pretty flexible! I am very free in the afternoons typically. I will take extreme care in caution when in people’s homes. As someone who has used this as well for my own cat, I understand the fear with letting people in your home. I can assure you I will treat your home with the same respect I would want my own.

“He was amazing with my cat! He played with him and sent me many pictures. He followed all my instructions and kept close contact with me. I felt so much better while I was on vacation knowing my kitty was being taken care of!”

“Lila always does a great job with our crotchety elderly cat and follows all our directions for his crotchety food preferences perfectly! She also sends lots of photos and detailed updates.”
“Such a relief to have someone who clearly cares for your pets while you’re away! Jillian took amazing care of my pets and made me feel like I was there at home with all the wonderful pictures. Would recommend them to anyone!”
“Emma went above and beyond to take care of my Pooffy. I was away from home, outside of US for.more than a month. She prompty stepped in and took the best care of my fur son. She is very well communicative, fun and loved pooffy a lot. Very aptient and always ready to support the pet parents. I have been taking her services several times and definitely can vouch for her! 🌷🌷”

“Emmalee has looked after Fancy and my late 17 yr old diabetic Bluepoint. She still had 2 Siamese to look after this time, but the challenge for these visits was Fancy along with 8 mo old Siamese Baby Amy.”

“Laura kept our dog for a week and did an excellent job! She exceeded our expectations by walking him on every visit and sending us detailed updates and lots of pictures. We were nervous about leaving him for an entire week, but Laura really kept us at ease with her constant updates. We will definitely use her again!!”

“Erica is absolutely amazing. From the moment we connected, I felt completely at ease leaving my cat in her care. She’s reliable, attentive, and clearly loves animals. She followed every instruction perfectly, kept me updated and sent the sweetest updates and photos that made being away so much easier. My cat warmed up to her right away. which says everything. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, communicative, and genuinely caring, Erica is the one. I can’t recommend her enough and will definitely be booking her again!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond
Lee has consistently gone above and beyond every time he’s watched my cats. He is very diligent in reading instructions and is a pro at giving meds and injections. My cats can be messy and have accidents and he always tidies up. He even helped me with a package that was not part of his petsitting. My cats were given lots of attention and well taken care of. He is the #1 petsitter I trust!

Harlee is a fantastic pet sitter! She watched our two cats for 10 days. She came twice a day to administer medication for our senior cat and was always great about arriving on time and sending photo updates. Her care for our cats brought us a lot of peace of mind while we were on vacation. She even watered my bonsai plant (thank you!). We wouldn't hesitate to book Harlee again!

My cat Charlie was in the best hands! She was punctual, professional, communicative, and attentive. She went above and beyond to make sure Charlie got the best possible care. During my week away from home I trusted that my pet was being cared for and I didn’t have to worry one bit. Would absolutely book again and recommend to friends!

The phrase “above and beyond” doesn’t begin to describe Jeff’s care for our senior cat. It’s hard for us to travel because we worry about leaving her and her necessary care, but we finally got to relax on our trip knowing she was in great hands. Jeff’s kindness and love for animals is exemplary and our cat Biscuit is his new biggest fan. We are so very grateful and highly recommend him!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richmond. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
