“Lila did an amazing job caring for our two cats! She even went above and beyond when there was a slight issue getting into our home. We felt safe leaving knowing our cats were in such good hands. Great communication and care. Would book again.”

About: I’ve taken care of dogs my whole life of all sizes. I grew up with a great pyranees/ border collie and have a dog of my own who is a dachshund. I dog sat for my neighbor, friends, and relatives frequently. I also have experience in sitting for cats as well. I can also help your dog learn new tricks! I taught my dog how to sit, stay, lay down, paw, roll over, follow, and wait all within 6 months. I am currently a part-time employee and have a dog of my own, so I have plenty of time and experience in pet care to give your furbaby the care they deserve! I’m flexible to what they need. Whatever needs you have for your furbaby I can meet! My dog is very particular, so I am patient, willing and understanding to what your pet needs.
“Holland was amazing! She was reliable, communicative, and clearly great with my dogs. I loved getting updates and photos after each visit—it gave me total peace of mind. My dogs were happy and well cared for, and I’ve already rebooked with her. Highly recommend!”

“He was amazing with my cat! He played with him and sent me many pictures. He followed all my instructions and kept close contact with me. I felt so much better while I was on vacation knowing my kitty was being taken care of!”

“I don’t want to write this because she will become too popular ❤️❤️Erica is amazing with my Remy!! He loves her so much! She is always communicating with all things! She does tasks without me even asking!! Love her!! She even bought him a new toy!! 💕. Best check-in sitter ever!”

“We are so grateful to have found Thane! My kitty Rat sometimes likes company while he eats, which I don’t believe I’d told Thane, but they figured it out. They’re great at figuring out what Rat needs and keeping us in the loop. They even reached out to let me know the power was out and see if there was anything they could do! I’ll continue to use them for as long as they’re available”

“Amazing communication and so sweet with my pup. She sent the cutest photos and I plan on continuing to use Maggie for all services!! 10/10 would recommend”

She was immediately responsive, and helped to come up with a solution to care for our kitten when our plans changed slightly and we needed an extra day, even coordinating with another sitter on Rover to exchange the key! Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Richmond. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 98% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
