“Jonathan took great care of our two cats! We were never worried while we were away and they got tons of love. We highly recommend Jonathan and plan on rebooking in the future!”

“Lee was wonderful with our fur babies! He left detailed notes after each visit, and provided excellent care for our cat and two dogs! We ran short on litter, and he even bought some to get us through! We would definitely use Lee again!”

“Elijah was able to sacrifice part of his holiday weekend to check in on our cat Sebastian, and we greatly appreciate his willingness to do that. He arrived as scheduled, kept Sebastian happy and us unworried so we could enjoy our own holiday time. A win-win for all!”

“Sydney was wonderful!! She was incredibly responsive and responsible and I felt very comfortable leaving my kitty in her care. She made sure to update me on how he was doing while I was away and gave me the peace of mind I needed! She was great with my kitty boy and I will definitely be booking her in the future!”

“I would recommend Katherine to any dog owner who is needing a sitter! She shared many updates with me as a nervous dog mom going out of town and even came over to meet our dog prior to the visit to allow him to get comfortable with her. We will absolutely book with Katherine again when we need a sitter.”

“Thane was great with Rat! They took the time to understand his personality and routine during our meet and greet which put me at ease. I’d definitely hire them again :)”

About: I’ve had dogs my whole life and have always loved being around them. In February, I got my first puppy of my own, a large, high-energy breed, and have been raising and training him myself. That experience has taught me a lot about puppy care, leash walking, basic training, and handling energetic dogs. I’ll treat your dog like my own and make sure they get the care, attention, and exercise they need! I have just graduated college and will be starting my masters next month. This summer I am very flexible with time and spend most days with my puppy, or taking care of others! I have a very friendly dog that is 8 months old. He loves to play and go on many adventures. We are familiar with several nearby parks and trails for long walks!
“Laura was wonderful! It was my first time using Rover so I was a little nervous, but Laura made me feel super comfortable! She sent so many cute pictures/videos of my kitty Poe, gave me updates, and I always felt like I could reach out to her to check in. Highly recommend Laura! :)”

“Kayley is wonderful. She is great with our senior pit bull and his various medications. She is communicative, friendly, and I would highly recommend her. We will definitely be scheduling with her again!”

About: Hi! I’m Eliza, I recently finished grad school at VCU and am doing some freelance creative work currently, so I have a very flexible and available schedule to help with your pets! I've loved animals my whole life and have grown up with dogs. When I was younger, I helped raise and train one of our dogs from puppyhood, where I learned how to care for a dog's daily needs. Four years ago, I adopted my first cat, and caring for her has given me plenty of experience with feline care as well. Whether it's walking dogs, dropping in for feedings, playing with energetic pets, scooping litter and refreshing water, or just keeping pets company, I'll care for your animals as if they were my own. I know every pet has their own personality and routine, and I'm happy to adapt to whatever helps them feel comfortable and cared for. I am post grad school and currently doing freelance work from home, so my schedule is pretty flexible! I am very free in the afternoons typically. I will take extreme care in caution when in people’s homes. As someone who has used this as well for my own cat, I understand the fear with letting people in your home. I can assure you I will treat your home with the same respect I would want my own.
“Lila did a great job taking care of our 3 dogs. She communicated well and was very respectful of the times we asked her to drop in. Even when things didn’t go to plan she had a great attitude and was very professional!”
“Erica was friendly, on time, sent a lot of cute pictures, and overall made me feel at ease with leaving my guys in her care. I would definitely have her pet sit again!”

“Abigail kept great communication leading up to her drop-in visits and throughout the whole time while sitting. Would absolutely have her over again to watch Ash!”

About: I’ve grown up around dogs for most of my life and already occasionally pet sit for friends and family. I used to work as a caretaker at a doggy daycare, and decided to continue pet care alongside my new job as it became such a fulfilling part of my life. I'm experienced with dogs of all sizes, breeds, and I'm experienced with a variety of other animals such as cats, fish, lizards, turtles, birds, and hermit crabs. My current work schedule follows the standard Mon-Fri 8-5, with most of my weekends and evenings open. Because of this, I'd be most suited for pets that are used to this schedule already. Otherwise, I try my best to stick to their current schedule for things like feeding and walks. I always feel comfortable meeting the parent(s) and pet before the booking. I can take care of all basic tasks and am very adaptable, patient, and reliable. I do my best to learn about each pet's little mannerisms and quirks so I can accommodate them the best I can while keeping them and your home safe. I want to make sure both you and your pet end up happy! I always ask that I'm given the pet's vet and an emergency contact as well, just in case.

“Meghan is great!! She helped us out last minute and took great care of our pets. She was communicative, thorough, and most importantly, kind to our pets, & we could enjoy our time away without worrying how they were doing. Highly recommend :)”
“Sidney is great! Super friendly and not bothered by my wacky dogs and their little issues. She arrived right on time and sent cute pics! Will definitely book with her again.”
“Emmalee took great care of our diabetic kitty while we were away and consistently showered her with lots of love and attention! Communication was good (updates with each visit) and I was happy to know she was in good hands.”

“LOVE knowing we have Kayla helping us watch our girls. We continue to have her watch our girls when we need her because she is wonderful and we know they are in good hands. HIGHLY recommend her, obviously since we continue to do so.”
“Danielle did an excellent job with Otis, kept me updated with pics and videos from her visits. He's not always the quickest to warm up but seemed to take to her on her first visit! Came home to a happy, healthy boy. Would definitely book her to look after him again!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond
Harlee is a fantastic pet sitter! She watched our two cats for 10 days. She came twice a day to administer medication for our senior cat and was always great about arriving on time and sending photo updates. Her care for our cats brought us a lot of peace of mind while we were on vacation. She even watered my bonsai plant (thank you!). We wouldn't hesitate to book Harlee again!

Eliza did a great job walking Teddy! She was on time and took photos. I can tell she is comfortable with dogs and in tune with their needs. Teddy was excited to walk with her and was a happy dog when he came home! I will definitely be hiring her again for more walks.

My cat Charlie was in the best hands! She was punctual, professional, communicative, and attentive. She went above and beyond to make sure Charlie got the best possible care. During my week away from home I trusted that my pet was being cared for and I didn’t have to worry one bit. Would absolutely book again and recommend to friends!

The phrase “above and beyond” doesn’t begin to describe Jeff’s care for our senior cat. It’s hard for us to travel because we worry about leaving her and her necessary care, but we finally got to relax on our trip knowing she was in great hands. Jeff’s kindness and love for animals is exemplary and our cat Biscuit is his new biggest fan. We are so very grateful and highly recommend him!

Repeat customer of Celeste's and I wouldn't hesitate to book her again, she's thoughtful, reliable and it's obvious she genuinely cares for the animals she watches. My doggie loves her! And knowing my dog is happy and excited to see her gives me complete peace of mind. I’m very grateful for Celeste ;)

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
