“Kylie is pleasant and positive to deal with, a good communicator, shows up on time, posts great photos, and seems to like my dog (well, you know, we all have a perfect child, even when we don't!). I will hire Kylie again.”

“Kay was a wonderful cat sitter to our sweet girl. She was responsive, responsible, and connected well with our kitty Cleo. Would definitely recommend her to others!”

“Meghan is great. She even coaxed my very shy Beans out of his usual hidey-hole. This is the second time we have used her services and will do so again. Highly recommend Meghan!”

“Amanda watched our 3 cats this past week and handled it perfectly. In particular, she provided very thorough updates and really connected with each of our cats in an effective way, spending quality time spent with each cat. We felt very comforted each day reading through the updates and laughed at the candid photos of our cats. She paid a lot of attention to the details of our instructions and generally went above and beyond. We will definitely check with Amanda before our next trip and highly recommend her for your needs.”

“Emili was AMAZING!! She took such amazing care of my two disabled cats. She asked all the important questions ahead of time and is so nice!! She sent lots of pictures and very thorough check ins! I get nervous leaving my cats, but felt great with Emili. I DEFINITELY recommend and will book with her again!”

“Jules is great! My cat can be shy or indifferent with strangers but got along really well with Jules. Beyond that, Jules is a good communicator and dependable. I know my cat is in good hands with her!”

“Cynthia is an excellent cat sitter! She has tons of experience with cats, had no problem cleaning up after my cat when she had an accident, and shared helpful advice for cat care. I’ve already booked her twice and intend to have her as my go to for future travel!”

“I had to book Gray at the last minute when my trip was unexpectedly extended for a few days and I am so grateful they were available. Gray went above and beyond and really showed how much they care about cats. Will definitely book again.”

“Stephanie did wonderfully with my crazy pup, dropping by several times mid day for feeding and letting him out. She was very prompt and communicated wonderfully, and I felt very comfortable leaving him in her care. Wholeheartedly recommend!”

“Gabriel was awesome to work with! He was professional, punctual, and knowledgeable. Most importantly, he was great with our anxious dog and even helped care for our home by watering plants and checking the mail. I cannot recommend him enough! Anyone who books with him should consider themselves luck. We’ll definitely book with him again”

“Jasmine was great! She was not able to find my cat all of the time but she still sent pictures showing she was dropping in and tried very hard to catch my cat on camera. She even did the litter box even though I forgot to put that on the instructions.”

“Amanda was fantastic taking care of my cat for a somewhat last minute request. She even made time for a meet and greet. I will definitely rebook with Amanda in the future”

“My fur baby is a 5 year old Rottie and he LOVES Ashley! Frido looks forward to his standing visit with his new sitter. Super grateful to have found Ashley because she is reliable, kind, and gentle with my Rottweiler.”

“My cat Charlie was in the best hands! She was punctual, professional, communicative, and attentive. She went above and beyond to make sure Charlie got the best possible care. During my week away from home I trusted that my pet was being cared for and I didn’t have to worry one bit. Would absolutely book again and recommend to friends!”

“We had a great experience with Marina! She is reliable, caring, and wonderful with our dog. It gave us such peace of mind knowing he was in good hands while we work such long hours. I definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring dog walker!”

About: I have taken care of dogs large and small since I was 12. Additionally, I have experience with more aggressive breeds of dogs. I have had my dog Narcissa Rose for almost 3 years, since she was a puppy, and so I have ample experience with puppies, training, and medication administration (both topically and orally)! I am a firm believer that our fur babies deserve the best care possible, as it’s their first time in this life as well and we have to be their advocate! I have a full time job, as well as a business. However, I am fortunate that I am an early riser, so early morning walks and visits are never an issue. My evenings are relatively free and even when I have plans, I ensure to make time so pets are cared for properly. I have a fenced in patio space as well as a neighborhood dog park that would make any furry friend happy! I crate my own dog occasionally, and so am no stranger to the need for it and am comfortable enforcing that with your pup if requested. I have had experiences myself of sitters not paying attention to my pets while in my home and so I take it very seriously that if I’m in your home, my attention is focused 100% on your pet(s)!
About: I work full time as a Registered Nurse, but I have a love for all animals and would love to hang with your fur babies on my days off. I have years of experience taking care of all animals, I grew up around dogs, cats, birds, horses, frogs, and snakes . We have an aussie named Blue that we love so much and I would love to help you out with your furry friends. I can provide references as needed but can assure you your babies will be in good hands. We can also work on training as needed, make trips to the dog park, or just walk around the block! My pup is really playful so we could also have play dates if you feel comfortable with that.
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Granite
Lee was AWESOME! He was great with my two little monsters who had only ever been boarded before when I've gone out of town. When I had to extend my trip unexpectedly, Lee was willing to continue his visits without hesitation. He handled my automatic feeder and litter robot like a pro. He even changed the feeding schedule after my weirdos ate themselves into a food coma after sneaking into a closet I hadn’t secured well and eating all the treats they could possibly fit into their bodies! He kept in touch with me and asked questions regularly, which I appreciated. He even handled a pest control guy who showed up- one less thing I have to deal with now! I have Furbo cameras to monitor the little ones from work, and it was a pleasure to look back and see the interactions he had with my kitties. They were happy and well looked after while I was away, and I would recommend Lee to anyone looking for a responsible, thoughtful, and caring person to look after their pets.

Frequently asked questions about Rover
Rover is the largest marketplace for local pet care. Whether you're looking for pet sitters, dog walkers, or house sitters who specialize in pet sitting, you can narrow your search by entering your ZIP code to find sitters within walking distance in your neighborhood.
You and your sitter can agree on a care schedule that fits your pet’s routine and the sitter’s availability. Pet Sitting can be booked as a one-time or recurring drop-in visit. If you need overnight care or dog walks, you may also be able to book House Sitting or Dog Walking through Rover with the same sitter, provided they offer those services.
Before booking, confirm:
- the timing, length, and frequency of visits;
- the care instructions the sitter should follow;
- which parts of your pet’s usual routine should be prioritized;
- how often you would like to receive messages, photos, or other updates.
Not every sitter offers the same services, availability, or booking options. Review their profile and discuss the care you need through Rover before booking each service.
If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.
The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the , which provides up to 25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience administering medication or managing dietary requirements. You can also find pet sitters who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and request a Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a casual meeting to vet potential sitters and communicate care needs for peace of mind before a booking begins. Only sitters who have never booked with you before can schedule a Meet & Greet on Rover; however, you are welcome to coordinate one in Rover messages with sitters you have previously booked. This can be helpful if you have a new pet or routine you want to go over with your sitter.
Meet & Greets can take place in person or virtually. If you are booking with a sitter for the first time, we recommend in-person Meet & Greets to get a clearer sense of how your sitter interacts with your pet or the new environment.
During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Meet & Greets are a great way to prepare your pet and sitter for longer stays or first-time bookings. Read our tips for your first .
sitters on Rover set their own , which you can find on their profile under their contact information. Sitters may set a same-day, one-, three-, or seven-day cancellation policy. Cancelling within your sitter’s cancellation policy qualifies you for a full refund.
Same-day cancellations for recurring services, which include walks, drop-ins, and day care, follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for pet boarding and house sitting, if you cancel after 12 pm on the applicable cancellation deadline, you’ll receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for any remaining days.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means you will get a full refund and our support team will work with you to find a replacement sitter.
