Rover is my full time job! I care for your pets around the time I spend with my own animals and do my best to make sure everyone's needs are accommodated for, schedule wise. This means I will prioritize time slots for pets who are on a strict medication schedule or need a very consistent routine, and other time slots are a bit more flexible (within ~1 hour of the requested time given).

I will happily take your dogs on a nice long walk, and I'm also down to play fetch or tug of war. If your dog knows more involved games or needs reinforcement of training, I'm happy to work with them on basic obedience and tricks. I love hanging out with cat clients and particularly enjoy working with shy or formerly feral cats--two of mine are former ferals :)

Are there any special considerations I should take into account, such as spots they do not like to be touched, if they get separation anxiety, etc? Is there any training that you are working on that you would like me to enforce or practice? Any favorite treats or toys?
A typical day
I will tire your dog out with games! I'm more than happy to work on training and tricks with them--just let me know your training method and I will reinforce what you're already doing. I love playing with cats but am just as happy to chill and snuggle with them, especially the shyer ones who may require a little more patience and time. Overall I am used to working with anxious and aggressive animals so I am very patient and comfortable letting the pet set the pace.

6.23.26. Due to the rising cost of living in the RVA area as well as Rover's new plan to take a higher fee percentage from bookings with new clients, I have raised my rates. I try to keep myself as affordable as possible but this is my full time job and I believe I should be able to securely support myself and my pets while doing it :) New quiet hours are set to between 10pm and 9am. Hi, I'm Thane! I currently petsit on Rover full time and I am an animal behavior nerd. I have a background in kennel work and grooming and have been working with animals in a professional setting since 2018. I share my life with one dog and four cats, including two former feral kitties that I put quite a lot of work and energy into socializing. I love my project pets and “spicy” clients! I volunteer at the RSPCA on their specialty green team and am working towards getting CPDT-KA certified with them.
