“Meghan is great!! She helped us out last minute and took great care of our pets. She was communicative, thorough, and most importantly, kind to our pets, & we could enjoy our time away without worrying how they were doing. Highly recommend :)”

“Vivian watched our little Izzy. She was prompt, on time, knowledgeable and friendly. We felt very comfortable with her and so did Izzy! Would highly recommend Vivian for your pet sitting needs!”

About: Ive had 5 years of pet experience, with cats, dogs, reactive, skiddish animals you name it. I have been able to administer medicine to animals, whether it be pill pockets, cheese, bread. I have pet sit others animals quite a few, but with my experience as a kennel attendant will do everything in my power to make sure your pet is comfortable and loved while you are away! So with my own cat he does come first, I usually feed him in the morning and at night at 7pm. If I were to take care of your pets I would have no issue checking on them, feeding them, walking them after 2-3pm because that is when my classes in. During the weekends I am completely free unless something comes up. So my own cat he is confined to my room when I am not home, but when I am i let him roam around. I am trying to get him to go on walks as well so he can still be active

“Kathleen is a very caring and person and responds quickly to requests. She cared for our two dogs while we were away for almost a week. She took them out on walks and cared for them well.”

“Abigail is awesome. It’s tough for me to leave Max, but she provides details on the check in. This helps me feel more comfortable, knowing he is in good hands with someone who cares.”

“First time having Nick care for our fur babies! Nick is a great young man who clearly loves animals. He was punctual for our meet and greet as well as drop in visit to care for our pups! Would highly recommend and will definitely be calling on him for future needs!”

About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and grew up in a family that had more pets than people! Over the years, I’ve cared for cats, dogs, parakeets, fish, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and more! I regularly pet sit for neighbors and friends. I’m committed to providing reliable, loving care for all animals! I work part time so I have plenty of time to play with your animal! I'm available on weekends and can dedicate plenty of time to walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I treat every home with respect and every pet as if they were my own, making sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision!
“Katharine is so easy to work with. She is always on time and gives great updates and pics. She is always happy to help watch my puppy who can be crazy sometimes. We will definitely continue to book Katharine!”

“Nina was so helpful when we were in a pinch! We came home to two very happy pups - so nice having peace of mind that they were well taken care of when we were away. We wouldn’t hesitate to use her services again in the future!”

“Elijah was communicative, on-time, thoughtful, and attentive to detail. He asked questions which I really appreciate. My cats feel safe with him which lets me enjoy my trip!”

“Meghan was great for drop-ins for our cats and guinea pigs while we were away for a week. Left photos, messages, the house was clean, everything you would expect. Would definitely recommend!”

“Amy was absolutely amazing, I had no worries about my cats when normally I freak out leaving them. She sent amazing pictures of the cats and watered my plants. Thank you again so much!”

“Daniel was great! He went above and beyond to take care of Lainey while I was gone. Taking care of her, cleaning up after her, and making sure she felt safe and cared for while staying home alone for the week. He was even nice enough to drop off some cookies for me and my girlfriend on his last visit. An extremely nice gesture, having known we both contracted Covid during our trip (it’s the little things 🙂). I will definitely request service from him again if he’s available in the future and strongly recommended others do the same. 10/10 dog sitting!”

“Danielle did an excellent job with Otis, kept me updated with pics and videos from her visits. He's not always the quickest to warm up but seemed to take to her on her first visit! Came home to a happy, healthy boy. Would definitely book her to look after him again!”

About: Along with working at 2 dog daycares in the past, I currently work at an animal clinic here in Richmond! I was raised around animals and have a deep love for pets. Currently attending VCU as a social work student. I’d love to help care for your baby! Since I only work part time, I’m flexible with hours and have plenty of opportunities for pet care! My schedule is lighter during the summer due to school being out, but I’d be more than happy to accommodate needs in the fall once a relationship has been established. I am comfortable with pets of all ages and sizes! From babies to older, and from energetic to sleepy, I love getting to know pets’ personalities and routines.
“Thank you so much, Ashley, for taking care of my two babies. You were so kind, attentive, and kept great communication the whole time. I really appreciate it and will definitely recommend Ashley, she was wonderful!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Richmond
Chynna takes such great care of our senior girls. She stepped up in a big way when they had a surprise flea outbreak after we had some rain and we were on vacation. She bathed them and gave flea meds and continued to monitor until the situation resolved. She is a complete professional and our girls love her!

Kay is awesome! She did a great job looking after our dog, and she provided plenty of detail and photos in the Rover reports so we knew how Sushi was doing. She was very receptive to Sushi's body language and adapted to make sure Sushi was under the least stress possible. I couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Jeff was on time, consistent, generous with his time & care of my dogs, friendly, & a great communicator. When one of my dogs struggled to relax around him, he was patient, & took the time to help her get comfortable, & stuck with it until she adjusted. Thank you!

Kirby is awesome! She took such good care of my sweet boy Dino! This was my first time using Rover & Kirby put all my nerves at ease. The report card & photos were sweet & helpful. Would definitely recommend Kirby to anyone looking for responsible, loving care for their fur baby 🩷

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.
Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Richmond stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.
Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Richmond choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking. Recurring services come with their own perks, such as flexibility to modify services (up to five weeks in advance), automatic billing, Rover Card updates, and same-day cancellations.
To find sitters in Richmond with recurring or weekly availability, select "Repeat Weekly" and which days you’d like them to care for your pet.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
