“Alana did great with our special needs dogs. She gave frequent updates and made sure they were taken care of, even getting some extra food for them. My husky has separation anxiety and wouldn't eat the food we sent, so she got some chicken for him to make sure he was happy during his stay. I would definitely use her again.”

“Oh my gosh! My boy Neeko had THE BEST time!!!! Cristen was great at sharing photos and videos during his 2 night weekend visit. Her communication is so good. Micheal playing out in the yard with him throwing the ball. The whole family gave Neeko lots of love as if he were their own. Once I picked Neeko up and got him home, he slept the rest of the day. He was completely worn out!! If he were a kid, I think he would be talking about his sleepover for days!!! Lol. I could not have found a more perfect family to love my baby. 🥰”

“This was Pitch's first stay with anyone he did not already know (he is almost 10!) and Tara was FANTASTIC! We are so thankful for how well she cared for him! We have already committed to her watching him again.”

“Catherine was great!! It was clear to me how much she loves dogs and how comfortable my pup was with her and her family. I always get a little nervous leaving Sully when I travel but I was put at ease with multiple photos and text updates from Catherine. I will definitely be using her again and would recommend her to anyone!”

“Cheyenne was very professional, very sweet to my jellybean our fur baby cat. I got daily updates, and daily photos! I would highly recommend Cheyenne and her family took care for your pet. We had place our home on the market and for showing thought it was best for Jelly Bean not to be home during the showings! Jelly Bean was well cared for ! Thank you, Cheyenne”

“Christene did a fantastic job of easing any anxiety we had about leaving Gambino for an extended long weekend. Gambino was well cared for and we will feel very comfortable booking services with Christene in the future!”

“Jackie and Kevin did great with our babies. They were very responsive and gave updates. My pups are a little spoiled and one requires daily medications, but Jackie made us feel comfortable that everything would be fine and it wasn't a hassle. I'd recommend them and would rebook in the future.”

“Victoria took such good care of our pup when we were gone for a 10 day vacation. He was happy to play with the other dogs and loved being able to roam the house and lounge on the couch. Victoria will be our go-to when we go on vacation moving forward. You can rest assured that your pup will be in great hands if she's the sitter. Highly recommend!”

“Erin and the family were great. I needed a sitter for Lyla on short notice and fortunately they were available. The day I picked Lyla up, she slept most of the rest of the day. I took that as a sign that she had a fun time. I would book them again if I have another occasion.”

“We were so happy to have Lana take care of our little dog, Zsa Zsa. Lana was incredible about getting to know Zsa Zsa to make sure that her stay was perfect. Zsa Zsa is a senior pup, so there were some very specific instructions about eating, medications, and night routine. However, Lana was on top of everything! She sent plenty of pictures and updates, which really helped us to feel confident that our little Zsa Zsa was being cared for. Lana also communicated with us quickly and clearly about pickup/dropoff. We will definitely use her again in the future!”

“Thank you Jeff and your family for taking wonderful care of Lilo. We couldn't have asked for a better family watch over our girl. Definitely recommend and would give 10 stars if I could.”

About: I am a dog lover who has a mini Bernedoodle. I have had senior dogs and dogs with extensive medical needs. I am able to administer meds in any way shape or form and have done the off leash K9 training with two of my own dogs now, so am aware of some basic commands. My husband and I both work from home full time. We have a great back yard for your pet to run around in with our sweet boy Winston. I have one sweet young dog who would love an occasional dog visitor and playmate. I will treat your pet just like I do, which one may define as a bit on the spoiled side!
“Allie is very calm and happy. Just what I want when she comes home. She was treated so very well. Would definitely trust Bryan and his family and use their services again in the future”

Sandra was great. We loved how she treated our dog Duke like he was part of her family. She kept us updated with plenty of photos and videos of Duke. We will definitely rebook with Sandra the next time we need someone to watch Duke. We couldn’t recommend her enough. Thank you Sandra.

Ashton was very patient with my anxious spaniel and managed to make her feel secure and confident enough to play with her own dog. It was such a relief to know that my dog felt happy, playful, and secure away from home. I’ll certainly call on her in the future for pet sitting and perhaps even playtime for my dog, who now seems eager to make new canine friends. This development has been a real breakthrough for my once-timid and fearful spaniel.

My dog, Teddy, absolutely loved staying with Savannah H and family! As soon as we arrived on the farm, Teddy didn’t turn back - he loved the environment and was ready to meet new friends. Savannah sent pictures so I knew that he was having fun and doing well. I was actually sad for Teddy that his stay was only for one night! I highly recommend Savannah H as she’s super kind and loves all animals!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
