“went home for the holidays and ashton was amazing at coming in and feeding my cat! very responsive and reliable! i felt like my cat was in perfect hands while i was away <3”

“Aneesa was so accommodating from the start! My pups were happy and so well taken care of. She provided lots of communication and pictures while she was here for her visits over our two days. This was also our first time using a dog sitter for our pups as we’ve never left them before. I felt very reassured and happy knowing that my dogs were happy and well loved. I would highly recommend Aneesa again and will utilize her in the future for our dogs.”

“Craig was fantastic! He took lots of pictures and communicated really well, I felt so happy and confident knowing my pets were in great hands. He went above and beyond, I will definitely be asking for Craig’s help next time I’m out of town (-:!”

About: I’ve spent years caring for both my own dogs and cats as well as those of friends and family. From energetic puppies and curious kittens to senior pets needing extra care, I’ve gained hands on experience adapting to a wide range of personalities and needs. Whether it’s managing medication, keeping up with playtime, or offering quiet companionship, I’m dedicated to providing reliable and thoughtful care that helps pets feel safe and comfortable while you’re away. I am an online college student this semester and can have a very flexible schedule that works best for what you need!! I can take same day bookings. I have two cats and three dogs of my own, all with different ages and personalities. One of my cats has a medical condition that I’ve cared for and medicated, which has taught me how to spot potential health issues and respond quickly. Whether I’m caring for pets in my home or yours, I focus on creating a safe, calm, and comfortable environment. I pay close attention to each pet’s behavior and needs and maintain clear communication with owners so you can trust your pet is in capable, caring hands.
“Tricia is a great sitter. She took care of my boy Leo and they had a great time together. Her visits were punctual and she gave detailed overviews of her visits. I will definitely be using her again in the future.”

“We are so grateful that we found Midori! She took such great care of my overly-anxious pups. Can’t say enough great things about her! We will definitely be using her again!”

About: I walk dogs for my local animal shelters frequently and i have raised and trained all of my dogs (i had 4) form when they where puppies so adults. I am a college student in my senior year, so my schedule is fairly flexible. However, my best availability is on the weekends and fridays. I have so much respect and love for animals, and I understand that they are family and someone’s babies. I’m happy to follow your pet’s routine and do whatever they need to feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for.
About: I’ve been watching both cats and dogs for friends and neighbors for a few years now, and now that I have more flexibility in my schedule I would love to provide my services to others! I work fully remotely and have a ton of flexibility to take care of your pets! If i’m not on vacation, i’m usually free to help :) I live in an apartment with my two-year-old chihuahua mix, Archie! Plenty of opportunities to run around the fenced dog area or ride over to a trail or park for more activity. If i’m dropping in, i’m happy to do whatever activities your pet loves and keep their routine going!

About: I have taken care of my own dogs, and helped out with others my entire life. Twice in my life we raised a puppy and I helped in training them in tricks and the potty. I also cared for our senior dog who was blind almost solely for 3 years. I love dogs and cats and I just want to help out. I currently work at restaurants on a rotating schedule so my availability fluctuates, but I am always available in the mornings before 11:30am. I would be fully comfortable taking a pet out super early, say 6am, and returning for a later morning session before going to work. I normally get off between 7-9pm, and I would of course return to let them out and play with them after that. My least busy days of the week are Monday, Tuesday, and Friday as those days I don’t normally work the entire day, either 11:30-5 or 4-8. I am super flexible and will accommodate as best I can without my schedule! I love to play with dogs and cats, fetch or tug of war are some of my dogs favorites. But I also love to take dogs on walks, I don’t mind pulling dogs or dogs that run, I can keep up. If a dog needs a little extra attention, and I have the time, I love to pet dogs and cuddle with them. I mostly just want to make the dogs comfortable while their owners are away.
About: I care about every animal and pay close attention to any extra care they need. Thank you for considering me to help take care of your pets! I currently work full time and go to school full time. I am very good at time management and will always fit pet care into my schedule. I’m very respectful of clients space and know how to approach a dog thoughtfully. I love all animals, no matter if they are reactive or not and know how to respond to any situation.
“Olivia did a great job with our senior cat. From our initial meet & greet to and throughout our trip she was kind, knowledgeable, punctual, attentive, and eager to help. We greatly appreciated her updates and photographs, reassuring us our girl was being well cared for in our absence. Many thanks to Olivia, we will definitely be calling on her again in the future.”

“Destiny is just fabulous. Her photos and updates keep us relaxed while we are on vacation. Our cats are well cared for and everything is fantastic when we get home. We will continue to book with Destiny!!”

“Victoria took great care of my cat! I was worried my cat would be very shy and lonely while I was gone but Victoria sent plenty of pictures showing her and my cat hanging out, which really relieved my concerns. Would definitely use her again in the future.”

“Michele was an amazing asset. She did such a fabulous job taking care of my two cats, that they appeared to be disappointed it was me when I came home. Clearly, they were well taken care of in my absence.”

About: I will take care of as if my own. I tend to get attached and fall in Love fast with furry friends. It’s actually called baby kitty syndrome. Like when you want to squeeze them so hard you will hurt them. Lol I need something to do with myself and make a little extra cash. I’ve lived with dogs, cats, birds, fish and rabbits all my life. I rescued 2 dogs, brother and sister, from the woods when they were 6wks old. They made it to be 16. I do have issues with my left leg/foot and lower back. So I won’t be able to lift more than 25lb max. I’m new to the area so this will help me to get out of my house and do something. I actually watch pets to get my fur baby fix and for a place to stay, specially when I travel. And im usually solo on my travels I will stay in your home to make things as stress free as possible for your fur babies. I will follow all your instructions and love them as my own
About: Hi, my name is Mackenzie, and I love being outside and seeing happy dogs on walks! I grew up with a dog that I loved dearly, and enjoyed nothing more than spending time inside and outside with him! Since his passing, I have gotten a little over a year of experience petsitting and dog-walking, and am looking to expand and help more families keep their fur babies happy! Whether that be by dropping by for a walk and some tummy rubs, or hanging out while you’re on vacation, I am ready and excited to help out! I’m a high energy person who loves playing with and caring for dogs; please contact me if you think I could be a good pet for your best friend! I have also become a big cat person in my personal life! I have cats of my own and I love them very much. They both have some minor medical conditions that require prescription feeding and monitoring, so I am used to sensitive kitties who need a little extra love. I would love to help care for cats in the area, so other cat people can travel and vacation and have time away from home knowing that their furbaby is well cared for and loved in their absence! I work from home and have a lot of flexibility with my schedule, so I am available throughout the day for feeding, walking, playing, and relaxing with your pets! I am very detail oriented and can ensure that the care your pet receives from me mimics the care they receive from you, to keep your furbaby comfortable and relaxed while you're away!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Toano
Ashton was awesome. She is very personable and easy to communicate with. We got notes and pictures from her daily. Our one cat hid most of the time, but she found him or monitored food. The other two decided that she is the best thing ever! While we were gone, we had a tree come down at thw top of our very long driveway. Ashton willingly walked in from the top and took care of them. Will absolutely have her back again.

Aneesa was absolutely AMAZING!!! I cannot thank her enough for the hard work my furry children put her through!!! 😅 She chased and wrangled the bunnies around the house who kept finding ways to escape and was extremely patient with my old man pup who was aggressively protective for the first couple of days, and eventually became great friends after a while! I was so stressed about the chaos as I was away but Aneesa kept calm and had everything under control as well as kept coming up with new ideas to keep things under control until the next check in. She’s so sweet she even took my trash bin back from the road and brought in all my packages that arrived at my doorstep. I would 10000000% recommend her for any of your fur baby needs while you’re away!

Raina took such great care of my kittens while I was away for three days. From the start, she was warm and easy to communicate with, and I could tell she really cared about making them feel comfortable. She sent me little photo updates each day, which made me feel so much better about being gone. When I got home, the kittens were happy, playful, and clearly well-loved. It honestly felt like leaving them with a friend. I’m really thankful I found her and wouldn’t hesitate to book her again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Toano. On Rover:

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
