“This was our very first time using Rover or a sitter in general. I was very nervous about the whole thing, especially because we had only added our second dog to the family 4 weeks before leaving on a trip. Elisabeth agreed to a meet and greet ahead of time and that went well enough for me to feel confident booking with her. Our dogs clearly had a good time and they both looked happy when we picked them up! We got an update at least once a day and pictures too. Would love to use her again! Thank you!!”

About: ❗️Relocating on Jul 12th❗️ Dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pets since age 16. I currently own two small dogs that I potty trained and crate trained myself. Friends, family, and neighbors regularly trust me with their pets. Since I’m home full-time, dogs receive constant supervision, frequent potty breaks, playtime, and lots of love and attention. 🐶💕 As a stay-at-home wife, I am home full-time and able to provide flexible scheduling, constant supervision, and plenty of attention for your pet. I am available every day of the week making it easy to accommodate most boarding, daycare, and pet-sitting needs. Your pet will be welcomed into a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment. I have two small, friendly dogs who enjoy making new friends, along with plenty of toys and enrichment throughout the day. Crates are available if needed, and pets can enjoy supervised outdoor time in my yard while on a leash. Every dog in my care is treated like family and receives lots of attention, affection, and quality care. 🐾💕
“Paul and Terri were exceptional. They were professional in all their communications, sent many picutres, and kept us up-to-date with all the happenings with Nala. I appreciated their flexibility and that they cared for Nala as if she was one of theirs. Thank you, Paul and Terri”

“Lyra and Scott and their family totally loved on our little Sassafras. We are so appreciative of their care and all the pictures and updates. I would recommend them to anyone looking for care for their fur babies. Will use them again! ?”

“Katherine was wonderful! I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with her right away. She also kept us updated with pictures and messages. My Rascal liked her a lot and did very well spending a few days with her family. Highly recommend and will hire her again the next time we need to leave him.”

“Loved my first experience with Rover. Laura made me feel at ease and my Charlie had a great time. She sent photos during the stay and kept me informed about he was doing. Planning to book again with her really soon.”

“Rodney is amazing! He took good care of our sweet standard poodle while we were out of town. Very responsive and friendly. My dog had the best days while staying with him. Highly recommend him!”

About: Hi! I’m Andrea, and I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years, starting when I was 11 years old. My experience started with my aunt’s two Shih Tzus, whom I helped care for from puppyhood until they passed away from old age. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. I currently have three dogs back in my home country and a mini Labradoodle named Ember here in the US. Over the years, I’ve cared for puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, including giving oral medications and supporting daily routines. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, and basic training. I enjoy teaching simple commands because it helps build trust and confidence between dogs and their environment. I treat every dog with patients, care, and respect as part of my own family. I have a flexible daily routine that allows me to be present and attentive to pets throughout the day. I am able to provide regular potty breaks, walks, and supervised playtime based on each dog’s needs. I am generally home for most of the day, and my schedule allows me to check on pets frequently and maintain their normal routine as closely as possible. I provide care in a clean, calm, and pet-friendly apartment designed to help dogs feel safe and comfortable. I only accept one client or one family at a time to ensure a low-stress environment and close supervision. All pets are introduced slowly and carefully, and interactions with my dog Ember are always supervised. If needed, pets can be separated to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at all times. Because my home has carpeted flooring, I only accept dogs that are reliably house-trained. This helps maintain a clean and comfortable space for all pets in my care. The environment in structured to allow dogs to rest, relax, and adjust comfortably while still having a safe and supervised space throughout their stay.
“Alexandra watched my boxer, Lucy, over Thanksgiving and she did an amazing job. Lucy was happy and well taken care of. I will definitely use Alexandra again. Thank you so much!”

“Kamie & Patrick were absolutely amazing! They sent constant updates of Norman and really kept my anxiety at ease as it was my first time leaving him with new people. I truly don’t have the words for how amazing they are. Dog lovers for sure and I truly couldn’t be more thankful they took such good care of him. We already booked another stay for Norman and I’m sure we will continue booking!!”

“Tameka was an amazing caregiver for my two weenie dogs! I was so happy to be able to keep them together in a lovely home environment. Tameka was very attentive to my dogs needs and provided me with lots of updates and cute photos. Thank you Tameka!”

“This was my first time using Rover and I am very pleased. A'Lauren was so informative while I was away. I will definitely use her again!!! This left my mind at ease!!!”

“I could not have asked for a better dog sitter! From the very beginning, Shanae was professional, dependable, and incredibly caring with my dog. It was clear that she truly loves animals and treats them like family. I received regular updates, photos, and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. My dog was happy, well cared for, and comfortable the entire time. Shanae went above and beyond to make sure all routines, feeding schedules, walks, and playtime were handled perfectly. When I returned home, it was obvious that my dog had been loved and cared for exceptionally well. I highly recommend her services to anyone looking for a trustworthy, attentive, and compassionate dog sitter. I will absolutely be using her again in the future! Thanks again Shanae!”

“Heather was awesome. Although my buddy was a bit anxious without me, Heather was able to keep her occupied so when she came home she just plopped right down in her favorite spot and went to sleep.”

“Amy was amazing! We were a little nervous about leaving our dog with someone we didn't know. Amy immediately put us at ease and made us feel like our pup was the most important dog on the planet. She is extremely professional and answered all my texts quickly. She provided photos and updated us with how things were going daily. After meeting her we knew she would care for our dog like she was one of her own. She was extremely flexible at changing the dates of stay when I'd accidentally clicked the wrong days. Even though they were very last minute. Her compassion for animals is truly genuine as evidenced by the model she's set for her children. They, too, took to our dog and treated her like a real princess. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our pupper.”

“During a time when I had to be out of town for almost a month and my family could not keep my dog because of other obligations, Christene agreed to keep my sweet dog for this extended period of time. Elly seemed to be having a wonderful time in each of the daily photos that Christene sent me. I think Elly made herself completely at home even with other new animals that were boarding also on various occasions. I would definitely recommend her services and would happily take Elly there again, if the occasion arises.”

“Highly recommend Kacie to anyone!!! We are semi-new to the area and needed to find someone to watch our 8 year old dog while we were away for a week trip out of the country. Kacie offered up doing a meet and greet which was extremely helpful. She answered all of our questions and made us feel so comfortable. While we were away, she sent daily pictures and updates. We didn’t have to worry at all! Our dog loved his time with Kacie and will definitely be having her watch our sweet pup again.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
