“Sarah took exceptional care of my baby girl. It was my first time using the app and was super nervous. After meeting Sarah and talking to her for a bit all my worries and anxiety went away. She made me feel comfortable and confident in choosing her to watch over my baby. Sarah sent me a daily report and even attached a few photos as well. I highly recommend Sarah and will definitely use her service in future. A++++”

“Our dog chief was in the best of hands with Scott and Lyra! They loved on him like he was their own and we had so much peace of mind with him at their home. When we picked him up, he was actually sad to leave ! That’s some pretty high praise from a dog right there. Thanks guys - you are the absolute best !”
“Paul and Terri were absolutely amazing! They offered great communication, gave extra care and attention to our allergy pup, sent pictures throughout the day, and were flexible with drop-off/pick-up timing as we traveled out of state. They have more than enough outdoor space for pups to play safely. They were attentive to our pups needs, limiting outdoor time when too hot. I could tell by the pictures shared that our pup was happy and comfortable while in their care. Thank You Guys!!”

About: Hi! I’m Andrea, and I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years, starting when I was 11 years old. My experience started with my aunt’s two Shih Tzus, whom I helped care for from puppyhood until they passed away from old age. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. I currently have three dogs back in my home country and a mini Labradoodle named Ember here in the US. Over the years, I’ve cared for puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, including giving oral medications and supporting daily routines. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, and basic training. I enjoy teaching simple commands because it helps build trust and confidence between dogs and their environment. I treat every dog with patients, care, and respect as part of my own family. I have a flexible daily routine that allows me to be present and attentive to pets throughout the day. I am able to provide regular potty breaks, walks, and supervised playtime based on each dog’s needs. I am generally home for most of the day, and my schedule allows me to check on pets frequently and maintain their normal routine as closely as possible. I provide care in a clean, calm, and pet-friendly apartment designed to help dogs feel safe and comfortable. I only accept one client or one family at a time to ensure a low-stress environment and close supervision. All pets are introduced slowly and carefully, and interactions with my dog Ember are always supervised. If needed, pets can be separated to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at all times. Because my home has carpeted flooring, I only accept dogs that are reliably house-trained. This helps maintain a clean and comfortable space for all pets in my care. The environment in structured to allow dogs to rest, relax, and adjust comfortably while still having a safe and supervised space throughout their stay.

“Jackie and Kevin did great with our babies. They were very responsive and gave updates. My pups are a little spoiled and one requires daily medications, but Jackie made us feel comfortable that everything would be fine and it wasn't a hassle. I'd recommend them and would rebook in the future.”

“Absolutely loved her! She did wonderful with my puppy, Axel! 10/10 recommend! I was worried about anyone watching him overnight, because he is still so young but she did a phenomenal job! I received several updates, photos, and videos of how Axel was doing and he loved it over there! ❤️🐾”
“My baby was so loved and happy with Elisabeth and her lovely family that he was upset when I had to take him home! There was good communication and pics. It was obvious from the beginning that this is an excellent place to leave your babies. So glad I found this family!!”

“Constance is a really special person. Great communicator, kind and open. She was open to do a meet and greet before Teddys actual staycation and allowed us to see her home and meet her pets to make sure everyone gets along. Once we dropped Teddy off she sent pictures every day! Communicated very clearly and kept me informed of Teddys well being. She was accommodating when we had little curve balls thrown at us and we have absolutely no complaints at all. Your fur babies will be in good hands with Constance! We will be booking again for our next vacation.”

“Tameka was an amazing caregiver for my two weenie dogs! I was so happy to be able to keep them together in a lovely home environment. Tameka was very attentive to my dogs needs and provided me with lots of updates and cute photos. Thank you Tameka!”

“Kamie & Patrick were absolutely amazing! They sent constant updates of Norman and really kept my anxiety at ease as it was my first time leaving him with new people. I truly don’t have the words for how amazing they are. Dog lovers for sure and I truly couldn’t be more thankful they took such good care of him. We already booked another stay for Norman and I’m sure we will continue booking!!”

“Amy was amazing! We were a little nervous about leaving our dog with someone we didn't know. Amy immediately put us at ease and made us feel like our pup was the most important dog on the planet. She is extremely professional and answered all my texts quickly. She provided photos and updated us with how things were going daily. After meeting her we knew she would care for our dog like she was one of her own. She was extremely flexible at changing the dates of stay when I'd accidentally clicked the wrong days. Even though they were very last minute. Her compassion for animals is truly genuine as evidenced by the model she's set for her children. They, too, took to our dog and treated her like a real princess. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our pupper.”

“Lora is great! My pup is always healthy and happy when he comes back, and she takes great pics to boot. Lora was even able to keep him for an extra night and deliver him back to me when I had an emergency that totaled my car. So glad she was able to help 🙏🏼”

“Amazing people, big backyard. Audi (pup) interaction was amazing, the way he was happy to give her kisses which reassured me he had a good time. Came home with pup and he plop right on the floor from the amount of fun he had. 100% will book again!!!!!!”

“Shanae was absolutely amazing , and Nova fully enjoyed her time with Shanae and Ash. I would definitely book with her again with no hesitation. She’s attentive, keeps you informed, and makes sure to send lots of pictures. She truly has an amazing spirit”

“This was Pitch's first stay with anyone he did not already know (he is almost 10!) and Tara was FANTASTIC! We are so thankful for how well she cared for him! We have already committed to her watching him again.”

“Gunna had a great time and made himself at home with Jessica and her kids. He had a fun time playing in the large backyard and on his walks. Jessica was quick to respond, gave us daily updates, and above all was able to watch Gunna last minute.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats of my own since I was a little girl, and that adds up to decades of daily hands on feeding, walking, vet visits, and everything in between. As a semi empty nester, I have the time and attention to give your pet the focus it deserves. Your dog or cat will be treated like family in my home. I currently work from home and have a flexible schedule, which lets me be available throughout the day. I am able to take them on their walking and potty breaks whenever needed. I treat every pet as if they were my own. My yard is fully fenced, so dogs can safely play and get plenty of exercise outdoors. During boarding stays, I keep a close eye on them at all times, stick to their regular feeding and walking routine, and make sure gates and doors stay securely closed. I’m happy to accommodate crates, medications, or any specific care instructions you provide, so your pet feels right at home

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
