“WOWSIE WOW WOW! Short notice and Tavonne was extremely gracious to accept Bailey. SUPER EXCITED that Baily had a few playmates. Extremely GRATEFUL for the several text pictures of Bailey just chillin with his buddies. Extremely GRATEFUL to receive several text pictures of Bailey and his buddies just chillin.”

“It took me two years to decide to trust leaving my dog overnight with a stranger. Brandy is the second boarder that I’ve used on Rover. Brandy not only gave Lord Henry 5 star treatment she engaged him in developmental play activities. I appreciate that she explored with me to understand what he is accustomed to and ensured she provided that standard and more. She is also a trainer and can provide more if I want it for my baby. Thank you so much Brandy.”

“Rodney is amazing! He took good care of our sweet standard poodle while we were out of town. Very responsive and friendly. My dog had the best days while staying with him. Highly recommend him!”

“Serena is the sweetest sitter ever! Beans enjoys being with her probably more than she enjoys being at home! I cannot recommend her enough for your pet sitting needs.”

“Jakorey took excellent care of my dog when I went out of town. He sent me several pictures of him, walked him and played with him. I would take my dog to Jakorey again. Thank you.”

“Megan was really good with our pup! She stayed for 2 nights with Megan and had a great time! Megan sent constant updates and pictures. So glad I decided to use Rover and not board my pup at a facility!”

“Angela is the absolute best. She provided the best care and treated my dog like a king. My high energy dog came back so well behaved and incredibly well groomed, she treated him to spa days, made him amazing homemade health treats, stuck to his routine and provided me so many updates and pictures I was never left questioning his wellbeing. I almost don’t want to leave this review so I don’t have to fight for her care in the future. But she is honestly the best care giver. I don’t want anyone else watching my dog but angela at this point. 100/10. Thank you angela ❤️❤️”

“Jessica was great with our Molly!! She sent pictures and videos to let us know how she was doing and Molly liked it so much over there we do not think she really wanted to come home because she had so much fun!!”

“Cristen and family were amazing! Wish we had found them before. They took very good care of Asher while we were at our daughter’s graduation. We didn’t have to worry about Asher at all. Wonderful family!”

“Tahirah was great. She kept me updated about Justice and her communication was on point. I'll be reaching out to her again the next time I need to leave the state.”

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. I have spent the last 3 years volunteering with Hope for Life Rescue and Penninsula Regional Animal Shelter, working hands on with pets of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, from bottle feeding kittens and puppies to caring for senior dogs who need extra patience and attention. I’m the go-to person for family and friends whenever they need someone reliable and loving to care for their pets, whether it’s daily walks, drop-in visits, daycare, or overnight boarding. I have experience administering medications, handling nervous or shy animals, and making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for like family. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big deal, and I treat every animal as if they were my own, with patience, compassion, and plenty of love. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because animals are already a big part of my life. I volunteer regularly with a local rescue and animal shelter, foster when needed, and I also run my own business from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability for walks, drop-ins, daycare, and boarding. I provide a safe, loving, and structured environment whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time and exercise, and my own pets (two cats and one dog) are all friendly, well socialized, and up to date on their vaccines. My dog, Mercury, just turned two and is full of energy. She loves meeting other dogs and enjoys playdates, which makes her a great companion for social pups who enjoy interaction and play. My goal is always to create a calm, trustworthy environment where both pets and pet parents feel comfortable and confident.
“I am SO appreciatve of Aurelie and her family! She was able to accomodate a last minute request for Halle, and I'm so glad I found her! She kept me updated through the weekend with multiple photos, and I could tell without a doubt, Halle was in wonderful hands. Would absolutely use again if we are in the area! Thank you SO much! ❤️❤️”

“Another amazing experience! We always feel comfortable and at ease when our Lola is boarding with Omaira & Isaac! Lola deserved a fun day with her new doggie friends while we had plans and we can tell she enjoyed and was comfortable! Thank you again! 😁”

“Elisabeth took such good care of our baby Milo! This was his first experience with boarding but she made sure he felt comfortable. She routinely sent pics which was very comforting. We recommend her services!”

“Krystal is awesome! We just moved back into the area and luckily she had availability to board our pup for the week. It was like they never missed a beat after 2.5 years. Krystal was very attentive, allowed her other dogs to play with our pup in the backyard and gave updates regularly with pictures. As long as we're in the Hampton Roads area, Krystal has a repeat customer everytime!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Newport News
Richard was very good with my dog. He took her on multiple long walks and gave her a super comfortable place to sleep. He was very attentive to her needs and my anxious dog felt so at home with him. Great experience for my dog and wonderful peace of mind to know my girl was in good hands.

Erica was outstanding, flexible, understanding and wonderful to our dog Nigel. She truly went out of the way to make sure we had updates and videos of Nigel during our trip. She Finding her has been a blessing, and I am so glad that we did. Your fur babies will be in amazing hands with Erica, and we will definitely book her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
