“Brandy and her family take such good care of Mika. She loves staying over and I feel at peace knowing she’s having fun and getting cuddles from everyone. 🥰”

“Kacie was sooooo nice and welcoming from the very 1st text to the meet & greet. She made us feel so at ease while at the meet & greet. She wanted to ensure she took care of our furbaby in the same manner as we do & that meant the WORLD to us!!!!! She took the time to ask all the pertinent & important questions and asked if we had any of her as well. She took & sent pics to us keeping us updated regularly. She made it soooo much easy for us to spend our vacation at ease knowing our furbaby was in HER CARE!!! She provided EXCELLENT CARE for Bruno!!!! He will be returning to her again in a few weeks!!! Im soooo happy to have found Kacie!!!!!”

“Lisa was great with my dog Rufus for an overnight visit! She sent pictures and I could tell he was getting lots of attention and love! Rufus will be staying with Lisa for a week and I know he’ll have a great time!”

“Megan was the best! My dog had just been neutered and she was so careful about keeping him from jumping, and she went out and bought Babybel cheese for him so he’d take his medicine (he hated the pills!). She even sent some cheese home with me and checked in on him. She sent me pictures and updates throughout the day when I was gone and I felt so at ease knowing my dog was with her.”

“Amy was amazing! We were a little nervous about leaving our dog with someone we didn't know. Amy immediately put us at ease and made us feel like our pup was the most important dog on the planet. She is extremely professional and answered all my texts quickly. She provided photos and updated us with how things were going daily. After meeting her we knew she would care for our dog like she was one of her own. She was extremely flexible at changing the dates of stay when I'd accidentally clicked the wrong days. Even though they were very last minute. Her compassion for animals is truly genuine as evidenced by the model she's set for her children. They, too, took to our dog and treated her like a real princess. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our pupper.”

“My fur baby Max has a couple of health issues which he takes medication throughout the day. Elisabeth accepted & was willing to care for Max in my absence. He went to her without any hesitation which made me feel very comfortable. She took very good care of Max, sent pictures, & constant communication and I was able to enjoy my getaway. She will be our number one caregiver for Max.”

About: I have taken care of dogs for over 10 years. Overseas during covid that was my main job and I had over 25 clients. I can help with medications given, dog walks, dog check in or do in home boarding. I do live a short walk from a park, so can also do playtime and walks at the park as well! I am available for drop ins visits, long or short walks or boarding in my home. If you are Active Duty, going TDY, etc. Or just a fur parent with no help, please let me know ahead of time so I can help you the best I can! I have a fenced in back yard with a lot of space. I have 3 senior dogs that love other dogs, but I also have plenty of space to keep dogs separated if needed. I also live walking distance from my local park. Smoke free home.
“Such a great sitter! She made me so comfortable leaving my babies with her and she checked in with me everyday with texts and photos. My dogs felt right at home and were treated like family. Highly recommend Gail for anyone looking for a reliable, caring dog sitter!”

“Hands down my sweet old lady pup was spoiled rotten! I had no worries at all and got the sweetest videos and photos while we were out of town. I would 100% want my pup to be cared for by Lauryn and her family. If she is available-book her. Totally worth it!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Newport News
Richard was very good with my dog. He took her on multiple long walks and gave her a super comfortable place to sleep. He was very attentive to her needs and my anxious dog felt so at home with him. Great experience for my dog and wonderful peace of mind to know my girl was in good hands.

Erica was outstanding, flexible, understanding and wonderful to our dog Nigel. She truly went out of the way to make sure we had updates and videos of Nigel during our trip. She Finding her has been a blessing, and I am so glad that we did. Your fur babies will be in amazing hands with Erica, and we will definitely book her again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
