About: I have been around dogs my entire life, and caring for them has always come naturally to me. I’m a compassionate and attentive caretaker who truly understands that every dog has its own personality and needs. Whether it’s making sure they’re fed, walked, played with, or just comforted, I treat every dog as if they were my own. My lifelong experience has taught me patience, responsibility, and how to build trust with animals, which is why I know I’d be a great fit for any role involving dog care! i promise your dogs will love our fenced in dog area and have lots of fun! I am currently not working, and I have always wanted to work with animals! Dog sitting allows me to watch my own dog while also taking care of other people’s dogs and making a living for myself! we have a fenced in dog area and lots of room to run and play! I don’t allow any squeak toys in my house in case of choking hazards! And I have crates if you can’t bring your own if your dog is crate trained!
About: Skills include: medication application, IV fluids, walking, playing, vet appointments, pregnancy assistance in birth, feeding, cleaning, bathing and most importantly cuddles! (Cuddles with consent of course) I have a remote job that doesn’t take up a lot of time so I am usually available and I have a love and passion for caring for animals and pets! I love animals and I had a cat named Precious for 18 years. I got a job at a vet hospital not only because I loved pets but because it was best for Precious. I was able to give her the best quality of life through my job and she sadly passed away in 2025. She was my special girl and I am ready to start caring for animals again. They matter a lot to me and I can’t bring myself to get another cat so I figured all the love and care I have in my heart, I should use it for good and help others in taking care of their precious babies. I’ve learned a lot while working at a vet hospital as well.
“Avery is a fabulous dog sitter. She has a natural gentle way with my pups. She kept me well updated on their activities and we came back from our trip with a sense of peace knowing they were in her care.”

“I had a last minute outing and Madison was very flexible with my times and dates, as well as very consistent in updating me on my little furball. He seemed to want for nothing when I returned so I can safely say she did a great job. Will be keeping in mind for future trips!”

“Alianys did an amazing job with our girls Poppy and Daisy. We had never done drop-in visits over an extended period of time, and we were unsure of what to expect. She was extremely communicative and shared so many photos with us while we were away, spent plenty of time giving lovins and cuddles, and shared how outside time and potty breaks went. She also got them some toys and left the nicest note for us to come home to. We cannot recommend her enough!”

“Miesha was wonderful with my big babies. They loved her immediately from the start of our meet and greet. She made sure to play with my hyper active baby and get a wonderful photo of the lazy one in one of her favorite spots lol. She was definitely a great choice to watch my babies.”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Newport News
Dea was absolutely wonderful with my cat, Orrin! She gave him so much love, attention, and playtime, and I could tell he was very well cared for while I was away. She also went above and beyond by helping water my plants and bringing in our packages, which was such a thoughtful extra touch. Dea was an excellent communicator throughout—reliable, responsive, and reassuring. I truly appreciated the updates and the care she put into both Orrin and my home. I would happily book with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable, compassionate sitter.

Jasmine took great care of our three dogs and two cats while we were away for two weeks. Jasmine told us about every visit, twice a day, and sent pictures every visit. While the cats were pretty shy most of the time, the dogs really loved Jasmine from the visit. We will look for Jasmine to take care of our pets in the future. We highly recommend Jasmine.

We were away for 2 weeks and Montserrat took excellent care of our furbaby. She always took pictures of Daisy, her food and water, and her litter box. Montserrat kept us updated on how things were going. She is a joy to know and loves to take care of our Daisy. We would definitely recommend her and will continue to use her services as long as she keeps doing what she does!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newport News. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
