Jasmine is always super helpful and understanding. She does an excellent job with my puppy Darcy. He adores her and he doesn't love that many people! She always makes sure to update me and send lots of pictures. The days Jasmine stops by to help out with Darcy he's always so much happier when I get home from work. Definitely recommend her!

About: I used to have another rover account and dog watching was my full time job for about 3 years. I quit for a little bit but now I am a stay at home mom and have a 4 1/2 year old golden who loves everyone and just wants some friends to play with. I am a stay at home mom and have a dog of my own so adding a few more never hurts. My golden daisy is my child she is so spoiled and if you trust me with your dog they will be too. She is full of energy and loves all dogs and people haha. She does not know what stranger danger is. I have a huge fenced in back yard. I am also able to split up my house to have dogs in separate areas when they need a break from each other. This will be my full time job aside from being a mom so I am always home.

Tawny was great! I have a senior dog with special needs on multiple medications, and he had just had surgery. She listened attentively as I was going over his medical needs and care. During his visits she sent me updates and lots of pictures. Everything was taken care of for him exactly as he needed.

I cannot say enough about Dawn. She is very kind. I have an active Australian shepherd/ lab mix and needed some help for several days while dealing with family issue out of home. Dawn took to Penny super quick and I loved the visit summary and pics. I am sure Penny misses her already but I will definitely contact her again when needed. 5+ stars!!

Available 24/7, just call or text us and we will work to fit you in. Last minute bookings we will try to work in based on our current bookings. Pet first Aid and CPR certified with American Red Cross. We bring extra water with us on our walks as well as Paw Cream. We keep extra leashes and collars on us in case they break. We know how to manage gate and doors so your pets don't run out unexpectedly. The best part, there are 2 of us! So there will always be multiple eyes watching and keeping your pet safe. About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. I have spent the last 3 years volunteering with Hope for Life Rescue and Penninsula Regional Animal Shelter, working hands on with pets of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, from bottle feeding kittens and puppies to caring for senior dogs who need extra patience and attention. I’m the go-to person for family and friends whenever they need someone reliable and loving to care for their pets, whether it’s daily walks, drop-in visits, daycare, or overnight boarding. I have experience administering medications, handling nervous or shy animals, and making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for like family. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big deal, and I treat every animal as if they were my own, with patience, compassion, and plenty of love. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because animals are already a big part of my life. I volunteer regularly with a local rescue and animal shelter, foster when needed, and I also run my own business from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability for walks, drop-ins, daycare, and boarding. I provide a safe, loving, and structured environment whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time and exercise, and my own pets (two cats and one dog) are all friendly, well socialized, and up to date on their vaccines. My dog, Mercury, just turned two and is full of energy. She loves meeting other dogs and enjoys playdates, which makes her a great companion for social pups who enjoy interaction and play. My goal is always to create a calm, trustworthy environment where both pets and pet parents feel comfortable and confident.

About: With 20+ years of personal experience and 5+ professionally, I'm Pet CPR certified, trained to give shots, and care for all pets - furry, scaled or pocket sized. I work from home full-time, so I have flexibility. I've boarded in-home and am comfortable with your-home overnights. I'm happy for lunch-time dog walks (depending on distance), or travel visits while you're away. I have a hedged in yard, but also have a lead line so they can run free. Lots of love and attention. Ample potty breaks and treats (if allowed). I have a small dog, who loves everyone and a skittish cat that probably won't be seen.

About: I have taken care of huskies and neighbors dogs when I was younger and in my parents house. Now that I have my own home and backyard, I want to continue taking care of dogs, even if it's just for a couple of days! I have been a dog walker for several people around the Newport News area. I'm totally dedicated on the weekends! Available all day long! Monday through Friday, I work full time, working from 8-3:30. I'm available after 3:30 to pet sit, walk dogs, or take care of your pet. I have a fenced yard and a loving little white dog that can be your dogs companion during their stay! During the weekend, I am completely dedicated to pet sitting!

As of June 2026, there are 2,428 sitters on Rover offering Pet Sitting across Newport News. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

A pet sitter can provide focused care sessions, help your pet’s routine stay on track, or keep you updated on your pet’s mood and energy levels.

Whether you’re at the office for the day or traveling for a few nights, a pet sitter can offer potty breaks during a Newport News stroll, cleaning the litter box, or making sure your pet has on-time food or water refills. For daytime services like walking and drop-ins, you can also request sitters to send a report card with every visit.

Tip: You can discuss your specific arrangements with a pet sitter on Rover to what fits you, your pet, and your sitter’s needs. To find what their special skills are, look at the "Skills" and "Pet care experience" sections on their profile.

If you would like updates while you’re away, you can discuss with your sitter how many or how frequent you’d like those updates to be. The Rover app allows sitters to send photos, videos, and messages about your pet, including how many pee or poop breaks occurred. You can message your sitter at any time through the app and our support team is available 24/7 by email or chat if you have concerns.

The personalized, in-home nature of pet care through Rover can mean more individual attention for your pet.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.

If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Newport News. On Rover:

  • 96% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 99% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
