“Tina did an excellent job caring for my two year old Bichon Frise. It was her first time staying the night at Tina’s house and she did a great job making her feel comfortable. Tina has excellent communication skills and her calm demeanor helped my pup get acclimated to her house during her stay.”

“Mark really looked to enjoy his stay and I was provided photos and videos throughout the stay. It was nice to have a yard for him to run and a family who you can tell loves all those they care for.”

“Gail was amazing with our dogs, sent pictures every morning with updates which gave us peace of mind. She’s so kind and just happy to be with the doggies. We will be happy to return to Gail for figure services”

“Choose Geneive when you want your dog to be loved and expertly cared for! This was our first time using Rover and we are so happy with the choice we made. Our dog, Kirby, had a fun, safe stay. Geneive’a dog, Lady, was very friendly with him and they enjoyed walks along with visits to the dog park. We received lots of photos and updates which helped us to relax and enjoy our time away.”

“Mckayla did such an amazing job watching my Willow over the holiday weekend. The updates were consistent and the photographs were adorable. You could see how happy and comfortable she was spending the night and playing with the other dogs. We will be boarding with Mckayla again!”

“Aurelie was absolutely incredible with Hermione! I received frequent pictures, very clear and helpful communication and she took incredible care of my big baby! She even dealt with very upset tummy situations and was incredible!! Will be using her every time I travel, my girl loved her!”

“This was my first time using Rover, and it was a wonderful experience! My dog is 12 years old and blind, so at first I was anxious about leaving her under someone else’s care. Jiyali made me feel very comfortable with her listed experience and asking the right questions before dropping her off to make sure she would be comfortable and happy during her stay. She sent frequent updates, and in every photo and video my dog looked so happy to be there! The process was very convenient, and both me and my dog were comfortable with the care she provided and will definitely request her again. I’m grateful to have found someone that could ease my anxiety and make the experience wonderful. Thank you so much for everything!”

“Danielle was incredibly accommodating and worked with me with a last second boarding request. She was very loving towards my dog and I wouldn't hesitate to book another appointment with her!”

“We have loved taking our dog to Leslie. Every time we pull up our dog gets super excited and it’s obvious that she enjoys being there. Leslie’s house has become her home away from home. I’m grateful we have found a trustworthy sitter who takes amazing care of our dog and loves her like her own. She keeps us updated, has great communication, and is willing to do whatever is needed for your dog. I definitely recommend her!”

“Katja was very receptive and welcoming. She made sure my pup was comfortable. She sent several pictures through the course of his short stay. She also was respectful of the arranged pickup time (which was decently early) and got up to make sure he ate and was walked (which she didn’t have to do!).”

“Marie was such a wonderful and caring with our dog Chito. She was very professional and updated us with pictures and messages of his activities. Our dog really enjoyed staying there from the looks of the pictures. From the moment he met Marie, he just took off without a complaint and was very excited to meet her. I would 10000% recommend her to take care of your dogs and I would rebook her again. Thank you Marie! ❤️”

“Hailey did great for my pup Ivy! She had a good time playing with her kids. Hailey was great about keeping me updated and sending me pictures and videos of Ivy. I will rebook in the future and recommend her to anyone that needs a sitter.”

“Sent plenty of pics, bought treats and took great care of my big boy. Very informative, knowledgeable about dog care. Definitely will be sending my dog to her anytime she's available”

“Amy was great with my pup!! She sent lots of updates and pictures which is something I really like seeing while I’m gone. Ducky came back a happy girl and I could tell she was well cared for!”

“They did a wonderful job with my girl! She was loved and it shows. I always worry about little with my girl but they reassured me and sent plenty of videos and photos :)”

I’m so grateful that he was able to watch my dog on short notice! He was incredibly accommodating and made the whole process so easy. He is also a great communicator and kept me updated, which gave me peace of mind while I was away. I truly appreciate his flexibility, reliability, and care. I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a trustworthy and dependable dog sitter!

Blaine was very responsive when I scheduled. We met and he was very personable and easy with the dog. we took him to his home as we felt comfortable with him. His house is quiet and calm which we really appreciated. Blaine was very loving with our dog He sent us one picture when he calmed down. we were not interrupted on vacation, but he did response promptly to my text. I will absolutely allow him to sit for us again. Our dog has definitely decided he likes Blaine and bonded.

Once again I had Madison watch my dog Cooper. She is absolutely fantastic with him and takes great care of him. Not even joking when I went to drop them off he took off down the street and ran right to her door. He was so excited. I know it's hard to find a good dog sitter but Madison is one of the best I have ever had.

Isaac took excellent care of our dogs, Duchess and Jojo, while we were away on a week-long cruise. His communication was great throughout our trip, and we really appreciated the frequent photo updates. We picked up our pups happy, healthy, and clearly well cared for. We would absolutely recommend Isaac to anyone looking for a reliable and caring pet sitter.

Very easy to drop them off and pick up, Brandon came to help and was super friendly and very welcoming for my chaotic kiddos. He did a phenomenal job taking good care of them while I was away. I got lots of pictures of their walks and the fun things they did this amend. I was worried because one of my boys has an anxious attachment personality due to his upbringing before I adopted him, but that wasn’t much of an issue with him due to the comfort and care that was provided. Extremely happy with the service (:

Thankful to Paul and his family for accommodating Bo and Jackson during a challenging sitter scheduling. He picked up my dogs from another sitter, identified some pet injuries, and reported them back to let me know my pets were safe and secure. Thanks to him and his family for providing me peace of mind.

Zimir was absolutely great. We had some last minute changes to our plans and he was able to watch our dogs on short notice. He provided lots of updates, as well as pictures. I definitely recommend Zimir. He was great at communicating as well. Thank you very much Zimir!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
