“I was scrambling to find dog boarding when my friend canceled on me at the last minute. I had no backup plan and actually thought I’d have to send my dog to a kennel for the week. Luckily, as I was looking up kennels, I found information on Rover. So this was my very first time using Rover and I was extremely nervous. Turns out, there was absolutely no reason for me to be. I was able to book Max to stay with Julie & Ken for the entire week that we were on a family vacation. I loved all of the text communications I received — Max was smiling in some of the pics. That put me at ease too. About: I have one small 3 legged rescue and just adopted another rescue September 2025 who is recovering from being hit by a car. Both are chihuahua s Prior to moving to Virginia I fostered both cats and dogs. I was known as a foster failure since I adopted many of my fosters and at one time I had 8 dogs. I love all animal but have a special place in my heart for dogs. I am retired and have lots of time on my hands and would love to spend some time with your dog when you are not able to. I will treat them as if they were mine9. I have two small dog that does fine with other dogs. My yard is fenced and secure. I believe dogs belong in the house since they are part of the family.

I’ve had dogs my whole life and have raised several from puppies through their senior years, including a rescue, so I’m comfortable with a wide range of needs and personalities. My home is very pet-friendly, with a large backyard for play and space to relax. I also have a 5-year-old lab and a young child, so safety is a top priority. I only accept dogs that are gentle and a good fit for a family environment. My goal is simple: to give your pet a safe, calm, and genuinely cared-for place that feels as close to home as possible. I am currently working part-time, so I am home frequently. My roomate and I often work together to care for your pets, so they won't be left alone for long periods of time. My schedule is pretty flexible, so I'm available 24/7 unless I am going out of town. I usually work Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights from 5pm-10pm. I prefer drop offs no earlier than 8am, but I can accommodate if needed. I prefer to do a meet and greet before overnight boarding. I cant always accommodate last minute bookings, but don't hesitate to reach out. I have a large fenced in yard, one very playful 5 year old lab, and a friendly toddler. My dog has free rein of the house and yard. When I am home, I leave the back door open so she can come and go as she pleases. When I leave, I can separate the dogs and crate as needed.

For dogs, I provide regular potty breaks, exercise, playtime, enrichment activities, and plenty of affection. Dogs have access to our large fenced yard for supervised outdoor time, and because I am home throughout the day, they receive consistent attention and companionship. I only care for dogs from one household at a time, which allows me to focus on their individual needs and maintain a low-stress environment. For cats, I ensure they have fresh food and water, a clean litter box, and attention at their comfort level. About: I have had dogs and cats my entire life. My first actual pet I got to call my own was a cockapoo puppy named Duke, he was my first lap dog too. However, don’t let my baby fool you I have also had hounds that screamed and ran across the yard and the house. I am experienced with cats and dogs with special needs to. My grandmothers and friends animals all have had dietary or medical needs that I never mind having to help take care of. My passion is loving animals and making sure they live a happy life. Trust that your fur baby will be in safe and caring hands. I am just recently out of the military working as a kitchen supervisor on city cruises. It can get boring and lonely, so I have decided on my free time to give my services to those who might need someone to pop their head in and check on their babies or fully stay if needed. I have an apartment that is in a fenced in area in Portsmouth Va. I’m open to any sized dog and will take them out as much as they would need. I live near a park and that’s where I would walk your special. If you have a loving feline you can trust I will not book them with any canines for their mental health and safety unless you have two pets out more that have lived together I will not take in more than one animal at a time.
“Nothing but positive things to say. I reached out for some help walking my dog a couple times a day during the week before a holiday weekend when boarding and daycares were booked. My dog came home after each walk tired, happy and sporting a silly grin. By the 2nd day, he was barking and wagging his tail in anticipation instead of alerting to strangers. About: I walk dogs for my local animal shelters frequently and i have raised and trained all of my dogs (i had 4) form when they where puppies so adults. I am a college student in my senior year, so my schedule is fairly flexible. However, my best availability is on the weekends and fridays. I have so much respect and love for animals, and I understand that they are family and someone’s babies.
