“Lyra and Scott did a great job watching Cookie. He seemed happy and liked interacting with their children and their dog Dobby. I will definitely use them again.”

“Elisabeth was a great sitter for our pup, Mylo! She sent us updates with pictures every day. He had such a great time with Elisabeth's own pup and her children. He was so well taken care of that he literally did not want to leave....lol! We are so happy that we found Elisabeth and will definitely be using her any time we need a sitter!! Thank you Elisabeth and family for everything!”

“Jessica is amazing!!!!! I have used her on multiple occasions and each time she has been a lifesaver especially when it’s last minute. She goes above and beyond with caring for my boys, she even made a birthday cake to celebrate for my Milo while I was out of town. My boys love her and her family.”

“Highly recommend Kacie to anyone!!! We are semi-new to the area and needed to find someone to watch our 8 year old dog while we were away for a week trip out of the country. Kacie offered up doing a meet and greet which was extremely helpful. She answered all of our questions and made us feel so comfortable. While we were away, she sent daily pictures and updates. We didn’t have to worry at all! Our dog loved his time with Kacie and will definitely be having her watch our sweet pup again.”

“Her home is very clean and welcoming. My dog was treated well and taken care of. She has lots of experience and patience. I will for sure use her again!”

“Julie and Ken were the best in nurturing our dog while we were out of town. They kept us well informed about how our dog was doing, provided frequent photos, and made us feel comfortable that she was in good hands.”

“Monica was great with my baby boy! She has a beautiful home and took very good care of him for a week! She was flexible with me and sent regular updates. Elliot loved playing with her two dogs!”

“I can only agree with all the amazing reviews! I was scared my two frenchies would not want to leave Stephanies house. They had a blast. You can feel 110 percent confident in leaving your pets with them. We will book again with Stephanie for sure!”
“Constance is a really special person. Great communicator, kind and open. She was open to do a meet and greet before Teddys actual staycation and allowed us to see her home and meet her pets to make sure everyone gets along. Once we dropped Teddy off she sent pictures every day! Communicated very clearly and kept me informed of Teddys well being. She was accommodating when we had little curve balls thrown at us and we have absolutely no complaints at all. Your fur babies will be in good hands with Constance! We will be booking again for our next vacation.”

“She was very responsive and communicative. Very welcoming and even taught me a few things about my dogs I didn’t even know. We will definitely use her again in the future”

About: ❗️Relocating on Jul 12th❗️ Dog lover with years of hands-on experience caring for pets since age 16. I currently own two small dogs that I potty trained and crate trained myself. Friends, family, and neighbors regularly trust me with their pets. Since I’m home full-time, dogs receive constant supervision, frequent potty breaks, playtime, and lots of love and attention. 🐶💕 As a stay-at-home wife, I am home full-time and able to provide flexible scheduling, constant supervision, and plenty of attention for your pet. I am available every day of the week making it easy to accommodate most boarding, daycare, and pet-sitting needs. Your pet will be welcomed into a safe, loving, and comfortable home environment. I have two small, friendly dogs who enjoy making new friends, along with plenty of toys and enrichment throughout the day. Crates are available if needed, and pets can enjoy supervised outdoor time in my yard while on a leash. Every dog in my care is treated like family and receives lots of attention, affection, and quality care. 🐾💕

About: Animals have always been a huge part of my life, and caring for them is something I genuinely love. I have spent the last 3 years volunteering with Hope for Life Rescue and Penninsula Regional Animal Shelter, working hands on with pets of all ages, breeds, and temperaments, from bottle feeding kittens and puppies to caring for senior dogs who need extra patience and attention. I’m the go-to person for family and friends whenever they need someone reliable and loving to care for their pets, whether it’s daily walks, drop-in visits, daycare, or overnight boarding. I have experience administering medications, handling nervous or shy animals, and making sure every pet feels safe, comfortable, and cared for like family. I understand that trusting someone with your pet is a big deal, and I treat every animal as if they were my own, with patience, compassion, and plenty of love. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because animals are already a big part of my life. I volunteer regularly with a local rescue and animal shelter, foster when needed, and I also run my own business from home, which gives me a flexible schedule and plenty of availability for walks, drop-ins, daycare, and boarding. I provide a safe, loving, and structured environment whether I’m caring for pets in my home or in a client’s home. I have a fully fenced yard for safe outdoor time and exercise, and my own pets (two cats and one dog) are all friendly, well socialized, and up to date on their vaccines. My dog, Mercury, just turned two and is full of energy. She loves meeting other dogs and enjoys playdates, which makes her a great companion for social pups who enjoy interaction and play. My goal is always to create a calm, trustworthy environment where both pets and pet parents feel comfortable and confident.

“We decided last minute to take a trip and they were great at accommodating Lando! They sent daily updates and he was tied when he got home so he definitely had a fun time. I would definitely use them again in the future.”

“Milena was great! She treated my boy like one of her own. She was communicative and sent lots of pictures as I was initially anxious about leaving him. Thank you so much for treating him well! We will be booking with her again!”

Thank you so much for taking such great care of my puppy. Communication was amazing from start to finish—thank you for responding quickly, even later in the evening. The pick-up and drop-off process was incredibly easy and convenient. They were already outside waiting when I arrived both times, which made everything fast and stress-free. I also really appreciated the photo updates and messages letting me know how she was doing while I was away.

Mariah was very friendly and the booking went well. She said Jasper was a very good guest and Jasper was taken care of. Jasper came home in a good mood and was playful and seemed to have had a good time. We will use Mariah again next time We travel. Thank you, Mariah.

Luisa & her husband and kids all gave my dog so much attention and love! They even sent us home with her favorite chew toy from while she was there. Luisa is a great listener, asks good questions, is very thorough, and genuinely cares about the pups. We will definitely book again with Luisa when the opportunity arises.

Lauren and Andrew took such wonderful care of our Lily and Jack Jack ! Lauren sent pictures and messages throughout the whole stay and they were happy and content ! They spent the holiday in their cozy and loving home ….We’re thankful to have found you and will be booking again !

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
