“Immediately connected with our lab. Flexible on dropping off/pickup hours. Fenced yard. Even had a lab sized dog bed available. Works from home so our dog didn’t need crating. Highly recommended.”

About: Hi! I’m Andrea, and I’ve been caring for dogs for over 15 years, starting when I was 11 years old. My experience started with my aunt’s two Shih Tzus, whom I helped care for from puppyhood until they passed away from old age. Since then, dogs have always been a big part of my life. I currently have three dogs back in my home country and a mini Labradoodle named Ember here in the US. Over the years, I’ve cared for puppies, adult dogs, and senior dogs, including giving oral medications and supporting daily routines. I’m comfortable with feeding, walking, bathing, brushing, and basic training. I enjoy teaching simple commands because it helps build trust and confidence between dogs and their environment. I treat every dog with patients, care, and respect as part of my own family. I have a flexible daily routine that allows me to be present and attentive to pets throughout the day. I am able to provide regular potty breaks, walks, and supervised playtime based on each dog’s needs. I am generally home for most of the day, and my schedule allows me to check on pets frequently and maintain their normal routine as closely as possible. I provide care in a clean, calm, and pet-friendly apartment designed to help dogs feel safe and comfortable. I only accept one client or one family at a time to ensure a low-stress environment and close supervision. All pets are introduced slowly and carefully, and interactions with my dog Ember are always supervised. If needed, pets can be separated to ensure they feel comfortable and secure at all times. Because my home has carpeted flooring, I only accept dogs that are reliably house-trained. This helps maintain a clean and comfortable space for all pets in my care. The environment in structured to allow dogs to rest, relax, and adjust comfortably while still having a safe and supervised space throughout their stay.
“I’m so glad I found Shanae, I was at ease while I was away. I loved the pics and videos she sent daily. I felt like my Frankie preferred being in a home environment where he can get 1:1 attention versus a boarding facility with dozens of other dogs.”

“Lora was great with our young dog! She was so kind and sent daily updates about their time together. This was my first time using a sitter who was not family with a pet. She gave me complete peace of mind with her knowledge and experience.”

“Heather was awesome. Although my buddy was a bit anxious without me, Heather was able to keep her occupied so when she came home she just plopped right down in her favorite spot and went to sleep.”

“Absolutely amazing!!! I had a crisis and needed my dog boarded literally at the minute I was contacting her!!! She accepted my dog and took wonderful care of her!!! Highly recommend her.”

“Amy was amazing! We were a little nervous about leaving our dog with someone we didn't know. Amy immediately put us at ease and made us feel like our pup was the most important dog on the planet. She is extremely professional and answered all my texts quickly. She provided photos and updated us with how things were going daily. After meeting her we knew she would care for our dog like she was one of her own. She was extremely flexible at changing the dates of stay when I'd accidentally clicked the wrong days. Even though they were very last minute. Her compassion for animals is truly genuine as evidenced by the model she's set for her children. They, too, took to our dog and treated her like a real princess. We couldn't have asked for a better sitter for our pupper.”

“This was my first time using Rover and I am very pleased. A'Lauren was so informative while I was away. I will definitely use her again!!! This left my mind at ease!!!”

About: I’ve always loved animals and have experience caring for dogs and cats (mainly dogs). I’ve walked dogs of all sizes, provided daily feeding and playtime, and made sure every pet feels safe and happy while their owners are away. I’m responsible, punctual, and love giving belly rubs and extra attention to make pets feel loved and comfortable. I work full time and come home for lunch and can be flexible with my schedule. I am available all weekend for any needs. I live close to a park and love to do long lead training or play often. I also have an open field nearby for long lead play as well. I do live in an apartment with my dog. I have to 2 large crate for pups that prefer that. My dog is a free roamer but also loves her crate that I leave open for her. All pets are allowed in furniture. And feeding flexible where needed. I live in a very dog friendly community. And have plenty of space to exercise.
“Gunna had a great time and made himself at home with Jessica and her kids. He had a fun time playing in the large backyard and on his walks. Jessica was quick to respond, gave us daily updates, and above all was able to watch Gunna last minute.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
