About: I am an experienced dog parent with a deep love for dogs of all sizes and energy levels. Having recently lost our high-energy Staffy, I'm deeply familiar with the dedication required to keep active dogs exercised, stimulated, and happy. I work from home, so your dog will benefit from constant supervision, plenty of indoor attention, and consistent daily walks. Whether your pup needs rigorous exercise or just a cozy spot to hang out while you're away, they will be in safe, loving hands with me Working at the house gives me complete control over my daily schedule, so caring for a dog fits naturally into my routine. My day is built around morning, midday, and evening walks, as well as regular yard time and structured play breaks. Because I'm home all day, guest dogs get constant supervision, consistent potty schedules, and plenty of affection to help distract me from work. In my home, guest pets are treated just like family. I closely follow every owner's explicit instructions for feeding schedules, house rules, and special needs to keep their routine as consistent as possible
“Maggie was wonderful! I reached out to her with a last-minute, overnight boarding request for my two dogs. Not only did Maggie respond quickly and communicate easily, but she was also incredibly accommodating when I needed to modify my drop-off date due to inclement weather. Because we were from out of town, we did not have the opportunity to do a meet-and-greet prior to drop-off. Any worries I may have had about leaving my beloved pups with a stranger completely vanished once I met Maggie. She is warm, personable, kind, and knowledgeable about dogs and dog care. I received adorable pictures of my pups enjoying their time in her home. I will definitely be reaching out to Maggie the next time we are in town!”

“Sandra and her family are great! Both of our dogs instantly felt comfortable with them and so did we. We found Sandra to be patient and kind to our boys and had no doubt they were in goods hands while we were away. She checked in with us often to let us know how they were doing. Great job Sandra!”

About: I have taken care of lots of dogs over the years. I love on all of them, and give great doggie massages. I take the dogs on daily walks. I work 3 to 4 hours each day and am home most of the time. I am a master gardener and spend a lot of free time in the yard. I have a fairly large fenced in back yard. I take my own dogs for a morning walk most every day. I give lots of treats.
“Allison is confident and understanding when handling our dog reactive pittie. He really enjoyed his stay with her and I had peace of mind knowing we could leave him with someone as knowledgable as her in dog behavior, that also understands his needs for attention and comfort. We're new to Virginia and so relieved to have found her!”

“Alana was amazing!! She took such great care of my pup and sent me frequent updates as well as pictures. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog with her and will definitely be boarding with her again!”

“I am so happy that I booked with Peyton! I was thankful that she was able to accommodate my last minute booking. She is very kind and she kept me informed by sending me pictures and updates, which I appreciated. My dogs were very happy and had a good time playing!”

“This was our second time booking with Mrs. Ethel, and she was just as wonderful as the first! She has such a beautiful spirit, and Jaxon always comes home happy and smiling. We’re so grateful for the love and care she gives him and truly appreciate her support. Highly recommend!”

“Cheyanne did a great job of taking care of Betty White while we were on vacation! She sent pictures on a daily basis to show us how she was doing and also gave her a couple of baths while she was there because she got muddy in the backyard. She was also very kind and bought her a new dog bed because the one that we sent got very muddy one day.”

“Abigail was an amazing sitter! Our previous Rover had ghosted us 2 days before Christmas and Abigail was more than understanding about the last minute scheduling. She sent us updates and photos multiple times throughout the days that she had Sadie and we could not be more grateful! We will absolutely reschedule with Abigail again.”
“Bryan and his family took great care of our chihuahua when we where away for a month. He did amazing at keeping us updated on how she was doing and gave us peace of mind during our vacation. This is the second time we leave our dog with this family. I completely recommend them! They are an animal loving family and truly care for pets.”

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
