“This is our first time using Rover. We wanted someone who was mature and responsible and Jeanne was a great fit. She was prompt and caring from the start. She sent messages and pictures every time and followed the details of our instructions. She was also thoughtful and thorough in how she cared for our kitty. We especially appreciate Jeanne giving time and space for our kitty to warm up to her and make sure she was comfortable with interaction. We recommend Jeane!”

About: I have had pets my entire life, including cats, dogs, tortoises, frogs, hamsters, etc. I love all animals dearly and have experience with young pets as well as seniors! I'm currently working full-time so my availability is limited to hours outside of 9-5 on Mondays through Fridays and weekends, although I can provide walks at lunchtime. My availability tends to be quite open on weekends. I live in an apartment complex so I do not have a private fenced in yard, but there are plenty of parks and open spaces near my home in which I can provide plenty of walking and exercise space (on leash!)
“Benjamin does such a great job with the cats. This is the second time we’ve had them watch our four cats. It’s so nice to have people who are comfortable giving medications and spend extra time hanging out with my old cats that need additional attention. Will continue to hire.”

“Amy was great with dropping in on our two dogs while we were out of town! She was super communicative and sent great updates and pictures. I know our pups were as well taken care of as they could be!”

“Abby did an amazing job taking care of my cat! She was very attentive and asked questions before our booking to get to know my cat and his needs. She kept me updated with photos and let me know how he was doing each day which let me enjoy my trip without worry.”

“My wife and I had to leave my Pittie for five days. We saw Alyssa’s reviews and immediately contacted her for an in-house meeting. I was very impressed with the meeting and asked if she could watch Nina for us. During the five days she watched Nina, she was terrific!! Every time she came to our home, she sent us pictures of Nina and explained how the day went with her. She even bought Nina a couple of toys. As much as we missed Nina, we knew she was being well taken care of. It’s hard to leave our pets, but having someone like Alyssa makes it much easier. She was the best!!”

About: I always send pictures to update the owners, and let them know what we did that day or how the animal was that way they know everything is going smoothly. Just got home for the summer from college. I’m working part time tuesday-thursday 4pm-10pm but other than that i’m super flexible. I care for people’s pets as if they were my own, growing up with animals has made me love each and every animal I see out in public, I’m one of those people who will ALWAYS ask to pet your dog.

About: I'm a go to friend when it comes to taking care of pets, and I own two cats myself. I'll feed them, make sure they go potty or their box is scooped, they'll get play time and lots of pets! I work full time monday-friday, so I have open weekends. Have an unexpected weekend trip? Places to be? I'm the sitter for you! I'll make sure to gently introduce myself to your pet and take the time for them to trust me. I will make sure to take the time to sit and play with them and give them extra attention. I like to keep things clean and tidy so I will pick up any accidents or messes on top of keeping their food and water clean and their litter box clean.
“Christa did an absolutely amazing job taking care of my cat while I was gone. I was nervous to be away on an extended trip but she went above and beyond to make sure he was cared for while I was out and her communication and updates on how he was doing were great. Definitely recommend her for any needing pet care.”

About: 👋Hi everybody! My name is Madison and I can’t wait to meet your fur babies! I am a current Masters student at EVMS studying surgical assisting. I am unable to work full time due to the rigor of the program so I love watching pets as a part time job. 🏡 I currently live in an apartment in downtown Norfolk with my boyfriend of 8 years, Grant. Grant helps out with potty breaks and walks if I am ever not home. We are both students and have internships so if your pet needs someone with them at all times, we unfortunately can only provide this on the weekends. 🐶I have experience with senior & adult dogs, cats, administering medications & puppies! I also volunteer at the Norfolk Animal Care Center in my free time to help out the shelter animals and be involved in my local community. We have no pets in our apartment currently. 🐱If chosen to care for your pets I will treat them with the love and respect that I would give my own pet. I love to send photo updates to the owner so that you can be assured that your pet is in safe hands. I look forward to meeting you and your fur baby! My class schedule is very flexible so I am able to offer frequent potty breaks and walks as needed! This allows me to follow the routine that your pet is already accustomed to I grew up with dogs in my parents home my whole life. My own dogs are spoiled and loved so much, so I will be sure to treat your animals the same way. My dogs love walks, playing outside, snuggles, and treats. I can promise that your animals will be treated no different than my own. I currently do not have any pets in my apartment

“De was a wonderful dog sitter! I did the 60 min drop in visit, and I feel that De went above and beyond for my dogs. My dogs are pretty particular about certain things and she was very good at making sure my dogs were comfortable.”

About: I’ve raised and taken care of pets for as long as I can remember. I volunteered at a shelter initially in the puppy and cat rooms doing general care. Eventually I moved to a farm where I took care of the pets there while also managing farm animals. When I moved out I ended up getting a dog and cat of my own and training pups specifically in both obedience and service dog training. I have continued to do this as my dog is a service dog in training and my cat is trained as a comfort animal for young kids with anxiety. I currently work full time so I would be best for early morning and afternoon and evening care. Weekends I am completely free unless otherwise stated, and I’ll know that at least a few days in advance. I have access to a large green space and a puppy park with my apartment. I also have a lovely, playful fully vaccinated puppy who is more than happy to meet new friends. I have access to a crate and a puppy play pen.

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Portsmouth
This was our first time using Rover and I selected Jordan because I saw how many great reviews she had. When Jordan came over to meet our pitbull named Hazel, Hazel fell instantly in love with Jordan. She couldn’t stop giving her kisses. Jordan kept us informed the entire time with messages and pics of every visit. Our pup even had a few accidents and Jordan cleaned them up and adjusted her schedule a bit to accommodate our pups needs. She also walked her twice a day to help get her energy out. I would recommend Jordan to anyone needing a loving dog sitter for their animal companion!

Lisa was fantastic! On short notice earlier in the week, she came over within a day to meet the dogs and walk through our routine. When we mentioned the dogs were pushing their way into our daughter’s playroom, she immediately helped barricade it better without being asked twice. She played with the dogs, fed them, and they clearly loved their time with her. Highly recommend — thank you, Lisa!
Jelise has been absolutely amazing with Diesel during a very stressful family emergency for us. She went above and beyond to make sure he was comfortable, cared for, and stayed on his normal routine. I really appreciated the detailed updates, photos, and how attentive she was to his meals, water, potty breaks, and overall behavior. It gave me so much peace of mind knowing he was in such good hands while I had to focus on family. You can tell she genuinely cares for the animals she watches. Diesel clearly felt comfortable with her, and that means everything to me. I’m beyond grateful for her kindness, professionalism, and the love she showed my boy. I would absolutely trust her with him again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a dependable sitter.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. While Rover doesn’t offer traditional subscription services, some sitters offer recurring bookings for services like home visits and dog walking.
