“Nicole was amazing with my kitten, very patient and let him warm up to her on his own time. She showed up on time, did everything I asked and was very respectful of my space. 10/10 would use again!”

“She is trustworthy and caring, my dogs and cat warmed up to her immediately. I also really appreciated the multiple photos and detailed updates for each visit. I would 100% recommend her for your pet sitting needs.”

“Hi Hannah. You are truly a cat-whisperer. Shuba is generally very shy; cat sitters we’ve used in the past never even saw her because she was hiding. We were so very pleasantly surprised by the photo of you petting Shuba. Wow and than you.”

“As always, Katherine is a joy and takes such great care of our little kitty. I cannot say enough good things about her. Definitely recommend her, and we always choose her whenever we’re going out of town.”

“Beth L. was able to step in quickly when our sitter cancelled and do drop in visits for our dog while we were away for multiple days. She cheerfully got Nelly up and fed in the morning and put her in her crate at night after ensuring she got some outdoor and play time and water. She was communicative and responsive the whole time and Nelly did well. We really appreciated her help!”

“Seth was absolutely amazing! The constant communication and the daily pictures and videos he sent make you very comfortable. When I came home everything was clean for my cat and left the place just like how we left it. I would definitely recommend Seth as I will be booking him more for the future”

“Becky did amazing with my Daisy May, she stayed even a bit over her time and my baby girl lovedd her, they played and my pup even got the zoomies! Defiantly will book with Becky again!”

About: As an avid pet sitter and pet owner, I'm looking to help my family earn some summer money! My youngest child is studying to be vet! I'm very flexible and can come with short notice. The schedule can be adjusted at any time. Just ask for the right fit for you! The animals know I love them so they look forward to my visits. We always enjoy a walk and snuggles. I'm here for all of it.
About: I walked the neighborhood dogs in middle school and parts of high school. I have little experience with boarding dogs in my home. I am looking forward to getting to know your fur babies. I am available 6 days a week until mid August and after that I will have to adjust my schedule to accommodate my other jobs schedule Since I do live in an apartment I am a bit limited in space, but I am flexible and can do my best to maintain comfortable space for your pet.
“Teju communicates extremely well and showed true care towards my cat. They went above and beyond while I was away and I would absolutely love to rebook them in the future.”

About: Hi there, for the past 7 years I have been a social worker, most recently working with at-risk youth. I love spending time with animals and am hoping to spend more time with them in my downtime. I've owned cats and dogs for the past 25 years. I currently have 2 cats: Teddy and Noggin who are both 8 years-old. I've been pet sitting for the past 11 years and enjoy the joy it brings. I am great at paying attention to detail, dependable, responsible, and on time. I am super reliable, highly responsible, very loving and patient with animals, communicate well, and know basic pet first aid. I am available any weekday evening and am available during the day on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. I am typically close to home on the weekends and can easily fit pet sitting in then as well! I have two cats that are indoor only with balcony access. My cat, Noggin, has heart disease and I am comfortable administering pills and treats. I have cared for dogs that have been crate trained and am comfortable putting them in crates when leaving. I have also administered medicine to dogs in the form of a pill pocket or food (peanut butter/cheese).
“Carole did a great job watching my 2 cats! She was on time for each feeding and sent cute pictures while I was away 🥰 I will definitely use Carole again in the future!”

“Carter was fantastic with my dog Keeva and is very reliable. I cannot recommend him highly enough! I will certainly be reaching out to Carter for any pet-related services I may need. Thanks again!!”

“Sharon and George kindly and perfectly cared for our doggy over the Christmas holiday. Nice walks and playtime included in all visits and impeccable attention to keeping her area fresh and clean. Thank you both! Highly recommended!!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Oakton
Jessica was amazing! Brought in packages for us which was so generous. So good with the cats. Did a free meet and greet beforehand to learn ropes and meet our girls. Asked so many kind and thoughtful questions on how she can make our cats feel good while we are gone! cant wait to book her again!

Winnie was AMAZING with our dog and cat. She gave them tons of attention and made sure they were mentally stimulated. She also sent us thorough updates after each drop-in, which relieved a lot of our anxieties. I would definitely rehire her, and I highly recommend her if you want someone who takes care of your pets like they’re her own.

Matt is an exceptional pet sitter who has taken care of our cats several times over the years. He has gone above and beyond to make it through snowy and icy weather and check on the animals despite the hazardous conditions. He and his wife Carolina are our go-to sitters.

Seth was absolutely amazing! The constant communication and the daily pictures and videos he sent make you very comfortable. When I came home everything was clean for my cat and left the place just like how we left it. I would definitely recommend Seth as I will be booking him more for the future

Miguel was great and actually managed to get my notoriously shy cat to come out and play, which my previous Rovers had not been able to do. He was very understanding and helped me out for a very long period while I was out of the country and hard to reach. I highly recommend him!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oakton. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
