“Nicole was amazing with my kitten, very patient and let him warm up to her on his own time. She showed up on time, did everything I asked and was very respectful of my space. 10/10 would use again!”

“Jennifer was wonderful with our cat Meep - he loved her and you could tell from her photos how excited he was to spend time with her every day! We were grateful for her thoughtful updates and hilarious pictures and memories were so glad knowing Meep was in such caring hands!”

“Hi Hannah. You are truly a cat-whisperer. Shuba is generally very shy; cat sitters we’ve used in the past never even saw her because she was hiding. We were so very pleasantly surprised by the photo of you petting Shuba. Wow and than you.”

“Tricia has looked after our cat multiple times, she has always been completely reliable and very attentive to the details of her care routine. I would not hesitate to request her services again.”

“Christina was wonderful. Highly recommend her services. She was on time, followed all instructions, and eased the anxiety of leaving our dogs. We will definitely use her again.”

“Leah took great care of my cat during a couple of weekend drop-in visits, including meeting him where he’s at when it comes to warming up to new people. She was also very responsive and kept me updated so that I wasn’t worried while I was out of town.”

“Thanks Youyou for visiting my cat! She was very responsible and caring, followed all my instructions carefully, took great care of my cat, and sent me lots of photos and videos. Highly recommend!”

“Laura was great with my two cats! One of my boys needs meds twice a day, and she administered everything perfectly. She was sweet and kind and even gave them a special treat on the last day. Highly recommend and will be calling on Laura again next time we travel!”

“The peace of mind Amanda brought to our whole family during an overseas trip cannot be overstated. We have a special needs kitty and we came home to a happy, energetic cat that never seemed to skip a beat. She routinely sent us photos and notes on her visit. She left our house clean and organized… easing the return. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone and we will surely lock in with her during our next holiday!!! So very thankful for her caring spirit….”

“Excellent service. Heather took good care of our cat and dog. She was very kind and communicative. She sent us pictures and messages so we didn’t have to worry about anything. She even stayed longer to make sure our dog was all set. I absolutely recommend her and will book her again.”

About: My family and I have owned and continue to own multiple pets. Currently we have 1 cat, who is a handful. Our neighbors also own many pets (mostly dogs) and some neighbors even foster puppies for adoption. This has given me experience ever since I was young on dogs of different sizes and personalities from big to small and aggressive to completely calm. I’m currently looking for small work here and there so pet care like this is a perfect opportunity for me. I am currently preparing for college at Virginia Tech however, so my afternoons are typically reserved for prep. When entering your home to take care of your pet, I will ensure to be 100% respectful to you, your home and your pet. Based on that pet(s) needs I will either be a very active mover or a more sedentary person.

About: I grew up with dogs my whole life having as many as 5 at a time. I have done many houe sitting and dog watching for all kinds of animals. I now have a dog and a cat myself and love my furbabies! I currently am in a masters program mainly online, so I have a lot of time and would love to get out of the house to help care for your pets! My schedule is flexible but depends on my school schedule each week. I have experience putting animals in crates, certain rooms, or wherever you prefer. I am good at following instructions of how you like your pet cared for to make it as seamless as possible. With my experience of pet sitting I am open to letting them out in their space or longer walks, whatever you prefer.

About: I’ve cared for animals for years and have experience with both dogs and cats of different ages, sizes, and temperaments. I’m comfortable with feeding schedules, walks, playtime, litter box cleaning, administering basic medications, and providing lots of attention. I also have experience caring for my own cat and helping friends, neighbors, and family with their pets. I’m dependable, communicative, and will treat your pets like they’re my own. I’m currently a college student with a flexible schedule, which allows me to dedicate plenty of time to pet care. I’m available for walks, drop-in visits, and pet sitting throughout the week and on weekends depending on the booking. I’m reliable, responsive, and happy to work with your pet’s routine. Your pet’s safety and comfort are my top priorities. I always follow feeding schedules, medication instructions, and any specific care requests. I make sure pets are supervised, secure, and comfortable in their environment. I’ll also keep you updated with messages and photos so you can feel confident while you’re away.
About: I’ve been surrounded by animals my entire life and grew up in a family that had more pets than people! Over the years, I’ve cared for cats, dogs, parakeets, fish, turtles, hamsters, guinea pigs, and more! I regularly pet sit for neighbors and friends. I’m committed to providing reliable, loving care for all animals! I work part time so I have plenty of time to play with your animal! I'm available on weekends and can dedicate plenty of time to walks, feeding, playtime, and companionship. I treat every home with respect and every pet as if they were my own, making sure they receive plenty of attention, affection, and supervision!
“Our pet Buddy takes time to meet new people. But when Buddy met Carl for the first time, he sniffed Carl and instantly connected with him and enjoyed Carl’s company. The next time we are in need of a pet sitter, we will definitely call Carl again.”
About: I’ve taken care of pets since I was a kid, starting with our two family dogs, Snuggles and Peanut! Peanut was a puppy when we got her and I learned a lot about training from that experience. Both our dogs lived good long lives and required a lot of senior care near the end. I’ve also taken care of dogs and cats for friends and coworkers in the last several years when they go on vacation. I love our furry friends and being outside, something we usually have in common! I work full-time in-person Monday through Friday. I am available for pet sitting after work and can do overnight stays but would not be available during the day on weekdays. On weekends, I have a lot of availability and the longest pets would be left alone is 4-5 hours. I live in an apartment and unfortunately cannot host your pet at my home but would be thrilled to keep your furry friend company in your home! I am a very reliable and responsible person and have been at my full-time job for the last six years. My friends and coworkers trust me with their pets and know that I will communicate with them frequently and love on their pets just like they do!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Wolf Trap
Miguel was great and actually managed to get my notoriously shy cat to come out and play, which my previous Rovers had not been able to do. He was very understanding and helped me out for a very long period while I was out of the country and hard to reach. I highly recommend him!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wolf Trap. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 95% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
