“Highly recommend Kiran. We were able to do a meet and greet prior to make sure our dogs felt comfortable and got along. We were sent pictures and videos throughout the day which made us so happy to see how at home our pup had made herself, and how welcomed she was into their home. I’m so happy to have had Penny cared by Kiran and will definitely reach out to him again in the future.”

“Toby had a wonderful time with Shiyi, Tyler, and Toto! Shiyi and Tyler were very communicative and sent lots of pictures and videos of Toby :) Toto was an awesome playmate as well.”

“I recommend Loreen to anyone who is looking for a pet sitter! She made my dog extremely comfortable and was able to accommodate to our last minute time changes. I will definitely be asking her to take care of Tofu the next time I’m out of town!”

“Mocha is a regular client of LaurieBeth's since we adopted her a few months ago. Mocha is always so excited to spend the day with her and gets lots of affection and exercise. I am also super appreciative of LaurieBeth because Mocha is working on her obedience training and LaurieBeth didn't hesitate to help us reinforce the behaviors. So grateful!”

“My dog, Aspen, had a great day with Michelle and doggy friends. I rarely leave Aspen with sitters but she was so happy when I picked her up and napped the entire way home. Michelle was great about sending updates throughout the day. We’ll be going back!”

“Jane was amazing. She did more than expected and beyond. I got daily photos and updates. Her daycare space is so beautiful. My dog Maxx had such a great time there. She took extra care of him. I would highly recommend her. Thank you Jane.”

“Shelly took such great care of Kepler during our day out. She provided videos and wonderful photos of him throughout the day and it looked like he was under great care. Would recommend Shelly to anyone looking for a great caretaker for their dog.”

“Fritz always has the best time with ManYee and Hannah. It’s a good feeling to see him run to the elevator with her, not even looking back. And I always know he’s in the best care possible!”

“Helena & Nathan watched my boy, Jackson, while I attended my nephew's high school graduation ceremony. Originally scheduled for the evening, stormy weather precipitated a change in time and location and the ceremony was rescheduled for much earlier in the day. Luckily, Helena & Nathan were incredibly flexible in allowing me to drop off Jackson much earlier than I expected. Jackson absolutely loved their fenced backyard - and Helena & Nathan captured multiple photos and even a little video of Jackson enjoying the outdoors. He really seemed to enjoy his time with them both. I will look forward to working with them again!”

“Devora is so kind and accommodating and a pleasure to work with. Trusting your most precious pet with a stranger can be difficult but she was assuring, communicative, kept me updated and I really felt my senior dog with many needs felt comfortable and safe in her care. Many other dog care options have many dogs of mixed sizes and activity levels in large areas where they can play and be very active. But a small, more fragile dog really needs a particular place where they can be safe and comfortable, so Devora’s home really was a perfect fit for this niche that put my mind at ease and allowed my dog to have a stable space he could relax without anxiety at the times we weren’t able to take him along with us. I would absolutely recommend Devora for any pet care services she offers.”

“Veronica always takes amazing care of our little Shih Tzu, Josie. She is very kind, and Josie gets so excited when it's time for her to go play with her furry friends! Thank you, Veronica!”
“My husband and I were in DC for the weekend and had to check out of our hotel at 11am but wanted to still explore the city a bit before heading home. We needed somewhere for our dog iris to spend the day. We dropped her off at Prisila’s house while we went into DC. Prisila was very responsive and was flexible with drop off and pick times. The whole process was easy and convenient! If we come back to the city we would definitely let iris go over there again.”

“We asked Susan to watch our pup for a few days and were so thrilled with her service! Ruby loved playing with The Boyz, and couldn't wait to see them again each morning. Ruby is a shy dog with people she doesn't know, but she bonded with Susan very quickly, and even fell asleep in Susan's arms, which we were amazed by! Susan has a beautiful yard for the dogs to run around and play, and was fantastic at keeping in touch; sending us videos and photos throughout the day. We will definitely ask Susan to dogsit for us again in the near future!”

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Wolf Trap
Millie enjoyed her first Rover.com experience with Mario who calmly coped with her initial separation anxiety and a couple of carpet mishaps. He kept us informed during the sit, including photos, and we felt comfortable leaving Millie with him. We're all looking forward to a return visit.

Ron was wonderful with Jennie! This was our second doggie daycare with him and he made sure Jennie got plenty of run time in his backyard with the other dogs and also took her on a long walk in the park. He shared plenty of photos from her day with him and we could tell she had an engaging and fun day!

Michele was great. Very responsive. Made me feel comfortable leaving my dog son with her. I think he enjoyed it as well because when we left, he paused at the car as if he wanted to go back with her. I definitely look to booking her again real soon. She really seems to care for him just like I do.

Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in VA ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
