“Rosemary spent 6 days taking care of the house and animals. She was very responsive, sent oodles of photos, and was very professional in all our communications. We will definitely ask her to come again. It's such a relief to know you can trust somebody to come to the house rather than stressing the dogs out with time in a loud pet hotel.”

About: We’re a dependable mother–daughter pet-sitting team with 30 years of combined experience caring for, training, fostering, and loving animals of all shapes and sizes. 🐾 Over the years, we’ve cared for dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, birds, fish, and many other pets. Our own family has included Whippets, Labs, Shepherds, Mastiffs, Basset Hounds, and Chihuahua mixes, and as sitters and fosters we’ve cared for many more breeds—including Bulldogs, Retrievers, Huskies, Poodles, Mountain Dogs, Great Danes, and plenty of wonderful mixed breeds. 🐕 🐕🦺 🦮 🐩 One of us is working toward dog-training certification, and we both have puppy-training experience. 🦮🚶♀️ We gently reinforce good habits, routines, and leash manners through patience, consistency, TLC, and positive handling. Most importantly, we understand that every pet has its own personality, pace, and needs. As home owners ourselves who have lived in three different neighborhoods in the DMV, we specialize in providing attentive, respectful, and reliable care while keeping your pets comfortable in the surroundings they know best--your home! When your pet stays with us, they become part of the family. Our home is set up with safety and comfort in mind, with a secure fenced yard, indoor gates, and separate spaces when pets need a little room of their own. Our designated pet areas—including our family room—are cleaned at least once daily and stocked with plenty of blankets, toys, and chew toys. 🪢 🥎 🧺 (See photos attached to our profile). Our cats stay comfortably upstairs, giving them their own space away from visiting dogs. Most important, someone is always home with your pets. They get lots of companionship, attention, affection, and access to our outdoor space whenever they want it. What we offer with our services: 🏡 Fenced yard 👩👧 Mother–daughter care team with 30 years combined experience 🏠 Someone is always home 🐶 No more than 2 dogs/families boarded at one time 🎓 Dog-training experience/certification in progress 🐕 Experience with everything from Chihuahuas to Great Danes ❤️ Dogs treated as part of the family Mom is the primary sitter, with her daughter—an apprentice vet and lifelong animal lover—often helping out. We’d love to provide reliable care for your pets at home or welcome them into our home! ❤️ We are currently working flexible hours and one of us is out of school for the summer, so we have plenty of time and flexibility to play with your pups! When we welcome you pets into our home, someone is always home with them. We are experienced dog walkers comfortable caring for pets in urban, suburban, park, and country settings. Whether your dog enjoys neighborhood walks, park outings, or a calmer pace, we adjust to each pet’s personality, energy level, and routine. For pet sitting in our home, we have a gated kitchen/family room area where pets can stay safely with us, as well as a fenced patio where they can get fresh air and companionship. We have the ability to separate your pets from other pets if that helps them feel secure. We can also crate your pet if that is part of their normal routine or helps them feel secure.
About: I currently work at a dog rescue. I volunteered as a dog washer at the humane society for a year. I pet sat relatives dogs in their home. I know how to respect dogs boundaries. Right now my schedule is somewhat flexible. I am available weekdays and weekends. I am unavailable on Monday, Tuesday and Friday from 4pm to 730pm. I am respectful of everyone’s home and treat it how I’d want a pet sitter to treat my own. I know the signs to take it slow with dogs and cats.
“Kayly is AMAZING!!! She house sat for us and always communicated through texts and pics to let us know how our doggo was doing. She took Rizzo for walks around the neighborhood, played fetch with her, snuggled; all the things our dog loves :) She went above and beyond and we will absolutely be reaching out to Kayly again when we are away.”

“Anne is by far the best house/dog sitter we have used on Rover in the past 5+ years. She was super communicative each day which gave me incredible comfort that my dog and house was cared for, so I could actually enjoy my vacation. 10/10”

“We needed a sitter on really short notice and Christyn was available. She sent pics of our dogs showing how they were, our hound took to her immediately. Thank you for taking care of our pups! Definitely recommended!”

“Allegra constantly exceeds expectations and alleviates any anxieties I have about leaving my dogs for several days at a time. She is responsive and great with the dogs and house. I'll never book another dog sitter if Allegra is available!”

“Margaret was amazing with Oly, very frequent with updates, and overall communication. Oly didnt want to leave when I picked him up. Will definitely be booking with her again.”

“This was my first time booking with Melinda and she exceeded all our needs, especially when my dog had a bad day health wise. I took the longest vacation in my adult life and overseas as well, she gave me peace of mind I needed to enjoy my trip. 1000% would rebook and recommend her wholeheartedly.”

“I had an excellent experience with Claire and highly recommend her to anyone in need of a reliable and caring dog sitter. She was punctual and her communication was top-notch; she kept me updated with regular, detailed messages and sent adorable pictures of my dog that really put my mind at ease while I was away. When I returned, the house was in great condition, and most importantly, my dog was happy and well-cared for. I will definitely be reaching out to her for future dog-sitting needs!”

“Seth was great! He kept in touch with me all the time I was away. The dogs seemed to be happy and well cared for as was my home. He cleaned up before my return, in fact when I got back I could hardly tell that anyone had been in my home! My dogs are hugely important to me and I'm at home with them a lot, so knowing there was someone spending a descent amount of time with them each day while I was away made all the difference to me being able to relax on my vacation.”

“If I could give Raquel more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! She far exceeded our expectations in every way. She stayed in our home and cared for our dogs while we were away for almost two weeks. From the very beginning, she was incredibly professional, organized, communicative, flexible, and so sweet and kind. Before and throughout our trip, she asked thoughtful questions to make sure she fully understood our dogs’ routines and care needs, and she did an amazing job keeping them on their normal schedule. She took exceptional care of our dogs, including one with multiple medications and special care needs, and kept us updated with lots of photos and messages, which gave us complete peace of mind. She also took great care of our home, leaving everything neat and tidy when we returned. Most importantly, it was obvious how much she genuinely cared about our dogs. We’ve used many pet sitters over the years, and Raquel has quickly become our favorite. We couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a professional, reliable, flexible, and genuinely caring pet sitter!!”

“Kenia was absolutely wonderful, and I would book with her again without hesitation. This was my first time having someone stay overnight in my home, so I was naturally a little nervous, but she immediately put me at ease with her communication and professionalism. She respected my home and my space exactly as we discussed, followed every instruction carefully, and even took initiative when appropriate without needing to be asked. She kept me updated throughout the stay with messages, photos, and videos, which gave me so much peace of mind while I was away. Most importantly, Luna was well cared for, happy, and comfortable when I returned. It was clear that Kenia genuinely cared about making sure both my dog and my home were well taken care of. I truly appreciated her thoughtfulness, reliability, and attention to detail. I highly recommend Kenia to anyone looking for a trustworthy, respectful, and caring pet sitter!”

“Juan was ABSOUTLEY amazing! He went above and beyond to make sure my nephew Apollo’s was comfortable and loved. He also went even further resetting the whole house (cleaning dishes, comforter, etc.)! When ever Apollo is in VA I will always make sure I check if Juan is available first before looking for other sitters. Juan’s communication was also stellar! Sending pictures and constant contact which helped my anxiety tremendously. He followed my provided guide with flying colors and when Apollo got a little sick helped him back to perfect stool! Thank you so much Juan we really appreciate your care for animals and your attention to detail!”

“Patricha went above and beyond! She took amazing care of our pups, one of which has a medication regimen, and she handled it perfectly. She was punctual, kept us updated and sent adorable pictures and videos. She also somehow left our home cleaner than when we left on our trip? She is absolutely FANTASTIC!”

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Wolf Trap on Rover is $42.8 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wolf Trap walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wolf Trap maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wolf Trap choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wolf Trap. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 96% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
