About: I’m a pre-vet student who just graduated from UVA and has grown up with two large dogs! I’ve also recently owned a hamster from a college lab! I have a lot of experience dog and cat sitting for friends and family including puppies, kittens, and senior dogs and cats. I also have about 100 hours of dog walking experience from a shelter so I am comfortable with reactive/fearful/energetic dogs, and another 100 from shadowing at a vet practice. About: For as long as I've remembered I've been around animals. I grew up with a yorkie named Paco and shortly after turning 5 I had the chance to help raise my next dog, a shih tzu named Pebbles who we got when she was 11 weeks old. I often cared for them by taking them on walks, giving them baths, feeding them, and overall giving them love and entertainment. In 2019 my family decided to get another dog after Paco passed away. This time we settled on a golden retriever, Terra. Now that I was older I was able to take full responsibility for her. I taught her all the tricks she knows. I'd take her out to swim and walk around the neighborhood. I'd even hand feed her and Pebbles when they would be super picky about their food. I'd also take care of my neighbors cat when she was away on vacation as well as feed the stray cat that often visited my backyard. Aside from cats and dogs I've had many other pets such as birds, hamsters, rabbits, turtles and more. Animals are a very important aspect in my life. My desire to care and love them is extremely strong. I currently have a flexible, mostly remote 9-to-5 job. Because I work from home, my daily routine revolves comfortably around pet care. I love taking breaks between my meetings to give pets some fresh air, a quick walk, or just a good scratch behind the ears. Before work, after work, and throughout the weekends, my schedule is wide open for longer adventures and dedicated playtime. Safety and open communication are my top priorities. While I was gone, Yasmeen was proactive in sending updates, pictures and video of the cats. One had just started needing medicine with her meals, and Yasmeen handled that with ease. I could tell from the video updates that my cats felt comfortable with her - and in fact one of them shared lots of cuddles and play time. When I returned, my house was just as I left it, and the cats were happy and healthy. I'm sure they miss her! I am so grateful to Yasmeen and will definitely work with her again!
Clare did a fantastic job house sitting and watching our dog for 12 days. She kept us well informed and shared lots of pictures so we could see how he was doing every day. When the power went out for an extended period, she was on top of things and even offered to take our dog to her home until power returned. As usual, Madi was the absolute most caring, trustworthy, communicative, timely dog sitter. We had an all evening engagement, and it feels so nice leaving our pup with someone we so totally trust for such a long time. Jessica was terrific about helping us out at the last minute with house sitting while my 99 year old mother was in the hospital, and her discharge was quite delayed. Jessica stayed with our English Setter to make sure he could snuggle with her and be taken out for walks in our fenced backyard. She sent photos and even offered to help us get my mom safely back into our home.
Erika was wonderful to all our babies in our first time leaving them with anyone other than family! She checked in multiple times a day with updates and photos, and she treated our giant lab, skittish tuxedo cat, and little tortoise with kindness and care.
