“Leah took great care of our dogs in our home, was great with communication, and left the house so clean, like no one had been there. Our husky and bulldog were undoubtedly pains in various ways, but Leah handled them gracefully and we came home to relaxed and tired pups. Hopefully Leah is available next time we need to go out of town!”

“Seth provided excellent care for my older pup Riley making sure his meds were dispensed correctly. It was wonderful to go on a long weekend trip and have the peace of mind that my precious pup was taken care of and he was happy when I returned. Would highly recommend Seth !!!”

“Allegra constantly exceeds expectations and alleviates any anxieties I have about leaving my dogs for several days at a time. She is responsive and great with the dogs and house. I'll never book another dog sitter if Allegra is available!”

“Kathrine was wonderful with our 3 fur kiddos! She sent photos and 2-3 updates per day. We are very happy with her overnight sitter option and will certainly hire her again.”

“Layla was in great hands with Livia! She sent us photos throughout and took Layla on plenty of walks. We came home to a happy, well-looked-after pup and a house left in perfect condition—exactly as we’d left it. Livia is trustworthy, kind, conscientious, and clearly loves animals. Highly recommend!”

“Anne was available over MLK weekend when my wife and I went to the hospital to deliver our daughter. It was such a stressful and fast moving weekend, and Anne was amazing throughout. She let us add in a day because we needed another day in the hospital. And she took fabulous care of our dog - Charlie and our cat Max. Anne even dealt with an alarm from one of the house systems. Anne is a fabulous sitter, and we always contact her first when we need someone.”

“Rosemary did a great job house sitting for us for 9 days and taking care of our 2 small dogs. She is very responsive with communication, regularly sent photos, and kept us informed. Upon our return, the dogs were healthy & happy, and the house was neat and clean (with one exception - which was remedied easily enough). We appreciate her help and will call upon her again! Thanks Rosemary!”

“Amazing communication and very accommodating ! Very kind and loving to my baby, Mocha. Shared lots of pics and videos and I could enjoy my time away knowing she was in great hands! Thank you so much !”

“Stephanie was great!! My dogs LOVED her and she was very communicative! I felt very comfortable having Stephanie house sit with my two dogs and would highly recommend her!”

“Addison was fantastic. She was very courteous and punctual. Reina absolutely loved her. Also, Addison fed Reina and gave her medication to her on schedule. I will definitely use Addison again to care for Reina.”

“I am so appreciative of having Lorene as my dog sitter for our recent vacation. She kept us updated with a daily report, added some cute pictures, and learned more of the dogs’ quirks making it a great fit. We knew we could travel without any worries because she took great care of my boys. They loved hanging out with her and Cash even took on the role of “work supervisor”. Would highly recommend Lorene for any of your dog needs.”

“Kelley was absolutely amazing, and I cannot recommend her enough! She stayed at our home for 4 nights and truly went above and beyond in every way. One of the things I appreciated most was that she stayed with Tyson almost the entire time instead of coming and going throughout the day. Knowing he had someone there with him gave me so much peace of mind. She was also very communicative throughout her stay, sending regular updates that made it easy to relax while we were away. She was incredibly respectful of our home and left everything spotless when we returned. Most importantly, she took incredible care of Tyson. He's an older dog with some health issues, and he had some messy accidents during her stay, including in the middle of the night. She handled every situation with so much patience, kindness, and love. It was obvious she genuinely cared about him, and that meant the world to us. I would trust Kelley with Tyson and our home again in a heartbeat. She exceeded every expectation, and I would 100000% book her again. If you're considering Kelley, don't hesitate! Your pets and your home will be in the absolute best hands!”

About: As a lifelong dog owner, I understand that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. I currently care for my own dog and know how important it is to have someone you can trust when you’re away. Whether it’s walks, feeding, playtime, administering basic medications, or simply keeping your pet company, I’ll treat them with the same patience and care I’d want for my own family. I’m dependable, communicative, and happy to send regular photo and video updates so you can relax knowing your pet is in good hands. I have a flexible schedule that allows me to provide dependable care throughout the day, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Whether your pet needs a walk while you’re at work, drop-in visits, overnight care, or extra attention while you’re away, I’m committed to keeping their routine consistent. I pride myself on being responsive, punctual, and providing regular photo and message updates so you always know how your pet is doing. Your pet’s safety and comfort are always my top priorities. I carefully follow your pet’s normal routine, including feeding schedules, walks, medications (when needed), and any special instructions. My home has a securely fenced backyard for supervised play, and my friendly doodle, Kuzco, enjoys meeting other dogs when introductions are appropriate. If your pet is more comfortable on their own, I’m happy to accommodate that as well. I treat every home with respect and every pet like they’re part of my own family.

About: Growing up, I always begged for a pet every chance I got. I have so much love, appreciation, and passion for not only pets but for animals as a whole, and this hasn't changed since I was a kid. In my free time I enjoy playing with my pets and watching animal documentaries. In terms of experience, I am PetTech certified, I am working with a local pet sitting business for over a year now, where I do drop-in visits for dogs and cats, as well as walks and house sitting too! I also previously volunteered with a local animal shelter where I worked with mainly cats and kittens, and dogs on occasion. As a volunteer, my responsibilities mostly included transport, playing with the shelter animals, weighing, and checking in/watching. I currently have 2 cats, 1 male and 1 female, that I got as kittens. I have had these cats for about 2 years. In the past, I had a dog for 3 years. My responsibilities with these pets include/included feeding, bathing, playing, walking, cleaning up after, etc. I am not currently working and have reliable transportation. I have a flexible schedule and lots of time to take care of and spend time with your furry friends! I have experience pet sitting in clients' homes before. I am detail oriented and follow the directions left by clients well! I clean up after not only myself but also your furry friends and leave the home as I found it!
“Andrea was phenomenal! I felt totally confident leaving our big boy Bruno with her. She was very communicative with lots of updates and very responsible in our home and with instructions. Thank you for everything!”

“Miria was great with our cat for a week long trip - she was extremely responsive and sent tons of videos of her while we were gone, which was great for peace of mind. Highly recommend!”

“We needed a sitter on really short notice and Christyn was available. She sent pics of our dogs showing how they were, our hound took to her immediately. Thank you for taking care of our pups! Definitely recommended!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Oakton
Alex is awesome! She took such good care of our Fernie and our home. We got detailed updates everyday with loads of photos. Fern seemed to be engaged and happy. We could tell that Fern was having a great time with Alex. Our home was tidy upon return too. We would have Alex stay with Fern any time!!!!!

Seth was very professional from the moment we made introductions with the animals. He kept me updated with messages and pictures consistently with every visit. He was very responsive and amenable even to my last minute request for a care provider. 10/10 would rebook with Seth and would recommend to anyone seeking pet care assistance.

I can’t say enough good things about Bristol! We have a senior dog with cancer and also an elderly bunny. Normally we have family watch them, but we recently moved to a new town and needed to find someone who could be with them basically all day. She was so consistent with her communication, making sure we knew exactly what the status of our dog’s medications and feedings were; she made sure our dog didn’t overexert himself on walks during the heat wave; she stuck with our bunny’s schedule and made sure she was tucked away at night before bed. She is the best!!!

We cannot speak highly enough of Winnie and her care for our pup and home while house sitting. Being away from our pup is incredibly stressful for our family but Winnie's care, experience and communication gave us so much relief that our pup was in amazing hands. We are incredibly lucky to have found Winnie and a million times, yes, to the question of whether we will be booking with Winnie again!

Will was a joy to have in our home taking care of our 110lb Great Pyrenees named Bear! At our initial interview, we knew he would be a good match. He asked good questions. He won us over with his confidence and skill dealing with a very large dog. Bear had a blast in our absence. Will walked him a least 3 times a day, played with him in our fenced yard, and kept Bear on a schedule. Will also took time to work on some of Bear's training exercises and adminstered his monthly meds. I really liked that Will worked from our home, so he spent most of the day with Bear, which is what Bear is accustomed to. We came home to a happy dog and a clean home. We would happily hire Will again.

Eric was awesome. We are very picky parents as our fur baby is a love of our lives! We are quite picky when it comes to anyone that we allow to spend time with our girl. We were a bit nervous since it seemed as though Eric didn’t really have many reviews and seemed to be new on Rover, but that skepticism quickly went out the door when Eric walked in. Sophie immediately gravitated towards him, which is always a great sign! We were able to enjoy a worry, free date night, knowing that our girl was with very capable hands.. Eric seems to be a very nice young man whose parents should be very proud of the son that they raised and the great first impression he maked on those fortunate enough to cross paths with him. We highly recommend him and will be more than happy to provide any additional feedback. Should another pet parent need reassurances that they’re making the right decision by hiring him.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oakton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oakton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oakton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
