“Allegra constantly exceeds expectations and alleviates any anxieties I have about leaving my dogs for several days at a time. She is responsive and great with the dogs and house. I'll never book another dog sitter if Allegra is available!”

“Seth did an amazing job caring for our high energy bulldog. Seth was super punctual, communicative, and sent us regular updates on our boy so we could enjoy a stress free vacation. Our house was spotless upon return as well. Will book with Seth again!”

“Rosemary spent 6 days taking care of the house and animals. She was very responsive, sent oodles of photos, and was very professional in all our communications. We will definitely ask her to come again. It's such a relief to know you can trust somebody to come to the house rather than stressing the dogs out with time in a loud pet hotel.”

“Michelle was really great. She was prompt and clear when communicating with me. She sent pictures and updates through out each day. Most importantly she was understanding and patient with ME as I explain in detail a lot of what my dogs need. I have a 13 yo and a 13 month old, both labs and each comes with some very specific handling needs especially around feeding and walking and Michelle was open to letting me communicate these needs. Her care and attention to the dogs' needs helped me relax on our vacation. I will definitely be asking her again to stay with the dogs. Thanks Michelle”

“Anne was amazing with my puppy! I had a 3 month old puppy and was going out town for the first time and it was a short notice. She was cooperative, kind and great communicator. While I was away, she’d sent me pictures of my puppy a couple of times a day and when I returned home, my dog looked happy and safe. Highly recommend having Anne to watch your pet!”

About: I've taken care of dogs since I helped my mom with her dog boarding business in 2020 and since then have taken care of a multitude of both young and old dogs. I will NOT take last minute requests without a meet & greet. I'm used to picking up after those without potty training or those with stomach issues and sympathizing over those sweet pups. I currently have a very flexible schedule over the summer and am available for dog sitting, pet care, and house sitting throughout the week and weekends. I strive to be as flexible, reliable, and accommodating as possible to meet the needs of both pets and their owners. The safety, comfort, and well-being of every animal in my care is always my top priority. I have experience interpreting canine body language and understanding breed-specific needs, including the specialized care required for brachycephalic breeds and barrel-chested breeds. I am attentive to each pet’s individual temperament, routines, and stress signals to help create a safe and positive environment. I am comfortable administering medications, handling accidents or cleanups, and adapting to the unique needs of each pet. In addition to caring for dogs and cats, I have experience with other animals as well and am always willing to learn about the proper care and handling of different species. My goal is to provide dependable, compassionate care while giving pet owners peace of mind that their animals are in safe and capable hands.
“Miria was fabulous. Very responsive, prompt and professional. She sent us pictures and kept us informed while we were away. This was our first time working together and we will definitely be using her again!”

“We were grateful for Sophia to care for our home and pets. She did a great job and was very professional, and cared for everything well. We would recommend her and would work with her again.”

“Lorene was wonderful with my boys. She was conscientious about making sure they did not get into trouble while in the backyard as they like to hunt for critters. She said that both of them were perfect gentleman and wonderful Snugglers. They also were very easy when administering their eyedrop’s and other meds. So happy we found Lorene and will be using her again.”

“Layla was in great hands with Livia! She sent us photos throughout and took Layla on plenty of walks. We came home to a happy, well-looked-after pup and a house left in perfect condition—exactly as we’d left it. Livia is trustworthy, kind, conscientious, and clearly loves animals. Highly recommend!”

“Vinnie did a great job with our anxious dog, Stax. She can sometimes be nervous with men and Vinnie went out of his way to do a meet and greet with her, as well as checking on all of her care instructions. He communicated well and we look forward to him taking care of Stax again soon.”

“Steph is wonderful. She is considered and extremely polite. She took great care of our two boys and sent us daily updates and pictures. The boys looked happy and relaxed enjoying their time with Steph. She also took care of my hydrangeas that did not like the heat. We will definitely be using her when we are out of town again. Thank you Steph and Rover”

About: I am a local college student/lifelong pet owner, and frequently care for my friends and families pets. I also volunteered at a veterinary hospital, where I walked and cared for dogs and cats staying in the boarding area (walking dogs, feeding pets, refreshing water and litter). I understand that every pet has a unique personality and routine, and I strive to provide attentive, loving care and treat every pet as if they were my own. My goal is to give you peace of mind while ensuring your pet is safe, happy, and comfortable while you're away! I am a local college student with plenty of time between and after classes to pet sit. My schedule is generally very flexible week to week. I do my best to keep their routine consistent and follow your instructions to ensure that they remain comfortable, whether that's feeding, walks, playtime, litter box cleaning, or just spending quality time with them. I'll also send updates and photos so you can feel confident that they are in good hands.
“Elizabeth was absolutely fantastic. She communicated regularly and sent pictures often. She also went above and beyond cleaning up which was a nice surprise after a week of business travel. I would highly recommend her and will be reaching out again.”

“I’m so glad I found Madi to watch my Honeybear. Super duper on updates which I love. I’m excited she will be able to watch her when I go away for a longer trip this year too. She is my child and I get home sick away from her. It’s nice having someone trustworthy to ensure your fur baby is being well taken care of. House was just the way I left it which I very much appreciate and she took amazing care and attention to my baby esp with giving her meds orally and topically. This is huge. We 💜Madi.”

About: I am a champion for every animal in my life. I am a proud mama and grandmama for my 2 cats and their kittens. I also have experience taking care of other types of pets, including elderly dogs that required more care and attention. Working in the social media and music world, I have the flexibility to change my daily and weekly schedule as needed for myself and clients. I built trust with my clients by being myself, honest, and kind. This allowed me to care for their pets in their homes, and also overnight as needed.
“Andrea was an amazing sitter for our dog, Remi! She came to our house for a meet & greet before house sitting, so Remi could meet her and feel more comfortable with her from the start (he suffers from separation anxiety). We hadn't originally planned on needing her to manage a special diet and medication, but when it came up, she was more than willing and adapted right away. She sent multiple updates a day with photos of how he was doing, was incredibly responsive throughout, and left the house clean and tidy. Having someone well-versed in anxious dogs and that we trusted from the start made a real difference. We'd be thrilled to have her watch Remi again and would highly recommend her to anyone in the area!”

“Kayly bonded with our animals so quickly and helped us feel at ease with leaving our older animals at home. Her communication was frequent which we loved! Highly recommend Kayly!”

Alex is awesome! She took such good care of our Fernie and our home. We got detailed updates everyday with loads of photos. Fern seemed to be engaged and happy. We could tell that Fern was having a great time with Alex. Our home was tidy upon return too. We would have Alex stay with Fern any time!!!!!

Seth was very professional from the moment we made introductions with the animals. He kept me updated with messages and pictures consistently with every visit. He was very responsive and amenable even to my last minute request for a care provider. 10/10 would rebook with Seth and would recommend to anyone seeking pet care assistance.

I can’t say enough good things about Bristol! We have a senior dog with cancer and also an elderly bunny. Normally we have family watch them, but we recently moved to a new town and needed to find someone who could be with them basically all day. She was so consistent with her communication, making sure we knew exactly what the status of our dog’s medications and feedings were; she made sure our dog didn’t overexert himself on walks during the heat wave; she stuck with our bunny’s schedule and made sure she was tucked away at night before bed. She is the best!!!

We cannot speak highly enough of Winnie and her care for our pup and home while house sitting. Being away from our pup is incredibly stressful for our family but Winnie's care, experience and communication gave us so much relief that our pup was in amazing hands. We are incredibly lucky to have found Winnie and a million times, yes, to the question of whether we will be booking with Winnie again!

Will was a joy to have in our home taking care of our 110lb Great Pyrenees named Bear! At our initial interview, we knew he would be a good match. He asked good questions. He won us over with his confidence and skill dealing with a very large dog. Bear had a blast in our absence. Will walked him a least 3 times a day, played with him in our fenced yard, and kept Bear on a schedule. Will also took time to work on some of Bear's training exercises and adminstered his monthly meds. I really liked that Will worked from our home, so he spent most of the day with Bear, which is what Bear is accustomed to. We came home to a happy dog and a clean home. We would happily hire Will again.

Eric was awesome. We are very picky parents as our fur baby is a love of our lives! We are quite picky when it comes to anyone that we allow to spend time with our girl. We were a bit nervous since it seemed as though Eric didn’t really have many reviews and seemed to be new on Rover, but that skepticism quickly went out the door when Eric walked in. Sophie immediately gravitated towards him, which is always a great sign! We were able to enjoy a worry, free date night, knowing that our girl was with very capable hands.. Eric seems to be a very nice young man whose parents should be very proud of the son that they raised and the great first impression he maked on those fortunate enough to cross paths with him. We highly recommend him and will be more than happy to provide any additional feedback. Should another pet parent need reassurances that they’re making the right decision by hiring him.

Caroline did sooo well with our timid older dog Annie. Giving her space in the beginning which led to Annie snuggling with her as the night went on:) she is so attentive as well to our young puppy, following our schedule of eating and going out to potty. Our pups are like our children and I knew they were in such great hands!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Oakton walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Oakton maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Oakton choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
