“My new name for Nicole is Mrs. Cat-fabulous! I always feel confident that my cat is being well taken under Nicole's care. She gives him lots of love and attention while i'm away. Nicole has even made recommendations for my little guy. Excellent cat sitter!!!”

“She is trustworthy and caring, my dogs and cat warmed up to her immediately. I also really appreciated the multiple photos and detailed updates for each visit. I would 100% recommend her for your pet sitting needs.”

“Hi Hannah. You are truly a cat-whisperer. Shuba is generally very shy; cat sitters we’ve used in the past never even saw her because she was hiding. We were so very pleasantly surprised by the photo of you petting Shuba. Wow and than you.”

“As always, Katherine is a joy and takes such great care of our little kitty. I cannot say enough good things about her. Definitely recommend her, and we always choose her whenever we’re going out of town.”

“Beth L. was able to step in quickly when our sitter cancelled and do drop in visits for our dog while we were away for multiple days. She cheerfully got Nelly up and fed in the morning and put her in her crate at night after ensuring she got some outdoor and play time and water. She was communicative and responsive the whole time and Nelly did well. We really appreciated her help!”

“Boone can be a stubborn old hound and rather particular with the people he trusts. He took to Seth right away and it out my mind at ease. Seth’s experience and easy demeanor were a major stress relief for me. Communication was great and I had no worries while I was out of town. Will absolutely book again!”

“This is our second time with Darcy watching our cat and he looks forward to her visits. He’s well cared for and she provides peace of mind while we’re away. We’ll definitely rebook with Darcy again.”

“Becky did amazing with my Daisy May, she stayed even a bit over her time and my baby girl lovedd her, they played and my pup even got the zoomies! Defiantly will book with Becky again!”

About: As an avid pet sitter and pet owner, I'm looking to help my family earn some summer money! My youngest child is studying to be vet! I'm very flexible and can come with short notice. The schedule can be adjusted at any time. Just ask for the right fit for you! The animals know I love them so they look forward to my visits. We always enjoy a walk and snuggles. I'm here for all of it.
About: I walked the neighborhood dogs in middle school and parts of high school. I have little experience with boarding dogs in my home. I am looking forward to getting to know your fur babies. I am available 6 days a week until mid August and after that I will have to adjust my schedule to accommodate my other jobs schedule Since I do live in an apartment I am a bit limited in space, but I am flexible and can do my best to maintain comfortable space for your pet.

About: I’ve taken care of the family dog my entire life and I’ve been a dog owner for 15 years. I’ve trained and raised a St Bernard, a Great Pyrenees, a Westie, and our currently beloved lab-mix, Turnip! My husband, Adam, shares this account and helps us be more flexible with your care needs. He is home from work by 2pm during the week and can pop out to visit/walk your pup during the day or we can both come by in the evenings for a visit/walk! We moved from Rosslyn and I know how hard it can be to find a sitter with a nice fenced yard and a friendly pup for your dog to play with while you’re gone, so we’re looking to supply that now that we’re in Fairfax City! I work M-F out of the home but Adam is home by 2pm on weekdays so he’s available for drop-in visits/walks during the week days if needed. We are both available for drop-in/walks weeknight evenings! We have a fenced yard and an overly friendly lab mix, Turnip, to keep your dog company. I know what it’s like to have a routine for your dog and we’re happy to follow any care instructions you provide!

About: With 10 years of house and dog sitting experience, I’m dedicated to giving dog families peace of mind while they’re away. I’ve cared for everything from energetic puppies to senior dogs with complex needs, and every size in between, from Great Danes to Chihuahuas. My background in healthcare has taught me just how important routine is. You can count on me for timely medication administration, consistent walks, regular potty breaks, and treats on schedule. My favorite part of every stay is soaking up all the pets and snuggles my furry guests have to offer. House care gets the same attention to detail: I’ll monitor your plants, water them according to your schedule and current weather conditions, and make sure trash and recycling go out on time. I hope to have the opportunity to help you and your fur babies out! I work in healthcare Monday through Friday from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, so I’m unable to stop in for visits during those hours. However, I’m happy to complete your pet’s morning routine before I head to work and arrange visits outside of work hours on weekdays. I have full availability on weekends as well. I take great pride in being clean and tidy, so your home will always be left just as I found it, if not better! the utmost respect for your space at all times. I enjoy cleaning and keeping a tidy environment, so you can trust your home will be well looked after. I’ll also make sure trash and recycling go out on schedule and collect the mail regularly, so nothing piles up while you’re away. You can count on open and consistent communication throughout my stay, with regular updates on both your home and your pets.

About: I own and trained a 6 year old German Shepherd and 13 year old mutt from the time they were puppies so I have experience with small to large breed dogs. I have dog sat others dogs and have experience walking multiple dogs at one time. I am a teacher currently on summer break and looking to keep busy, so time is open except for Friday evenings/nights and Saturday mornings. I have multiple years of experience giving medication, feeding, and caring for dogs. When I am with a dog they will always be under direct supervision and control.
About: As someone who has grown up with dogs since the age of 3, I’ve spent my entire life surrounded by the love and energy of pets. Caring for them has always been second nature to me, whether it’s going for walks, playing, or just making sure they feel safe and loved. Every dog has its own personality and needs, and I’m here to give them the same care and attention they’d get from you. ❤️ I currently work from home, so I’m super flexible and can easily adjust to your schedule needs, whether it’s extra walks, playtime, or just making sure your pet is comfortable and happy. I’m here to give them all the love they deserve while you’re away. I will focus on keeping things as normal and comfortable as possible when caring for your pets. I will ensure to stick to their routine whether it’s meals, walks, or playtime, and make sure they get plenty of love and attention. I want your pet to feel happy and safe while you’re away, and I’ll treat your home with the same care and respect I would my own.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Oakton
Jessica was amazing! Brought in packages for us which was so generous. So good with the cats. Did a free meet and greet beforehand to learn ropes and meet our girls. Asked so many kind and thoughtful questions on how she can make our cats feel good while we are gone! cant wait to book her again!

Winnie was AMAZING with our dog and cat. She gave them tons of attention and made sure they were mentally stimulated. She also sent us thorough updates after each drop-in, which relieved a lot of our anxieties. I would definitely rehire her, and I highly recommend her if you want someone who takes care of your pets like they’re her own.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Oakton. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 94% can help with daily exercise

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
