“Ellyäna was a fantastic cat and house sitter! She was easy to communicate with, very respectful of our house, and clearly helped our two kitties feel comfortable while we were gone. I especially liked her voice memos with detailed updates about how everyone was doing. I would definitely recommend her services!”

“Sai was great with Willie. She sent us great updates and photos and made it feel so much easier to leave him. She also left the house nice and clean which is such a bonus!”

“Gabriela was our very first experience with overnight (multi-day) dog sitters outside of our immediate family and we could not have been happier! She came to visit us at our home prior to booking and sweet, calm demeanor put us right at ease. She was communicative the entire time- sending regular photos of walks, playtime and sleepytimes. She alerted us of any minor concerns and even kept up with a special diet and doggie eye drops! She was respectful of our home and left it tidy and even took her sheets off the bed and emptied the garbage. Our dogs were excited and clearly well cared for upon our return. We would not hesitate to book Gabriela again! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️”
“Emily was wonderful with our pups and cats! She housesat for 5 days/nights and took great care of everyone and everything! She sent us texts and photos and asked about things that might be concerning, like one of our cats who has cherry eye (I hadn't mentioned it, as I don't really think about it and he hid in our initial visit) and she was concerned that he might have gotten his eye scratched. Very thorough and sent me a text of her perception of their personalities....spot on!! The dogs LOVED her too! I would use her for petsitting without hesitation! Extremely trustworthy young woman!”

“Arabelle was incredible! She took such attentive care of midnight, and updated often! The place was in immaculate condition when we returned, which is more than I could ask for. She became midnights best friend for a few days, and I couldn’t ask for a better dog sitter, I will definitely book again!!”

About: Hi! I'm a lifelong animal lover who has been surrounded by cats my entire life. Caring for animals has always been a big part of who I am, and I truly enjoy getting to know each pet's unique personality. I have experience dog sitting for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs. I'm also comfortable caring for pets with special needs, including administering medications and following detailed care instructions to keep them happy, healthy, and comfortable while you're away. As an educator, I've also cared for classroom pets throughout my career, including fish and reptiles. In addition, I have experience caring for pet birds. Because of this, I'm comfortable caring for a wide variety of animals—not just dogs and cats. Whether your family includes a playful puppy, an independent cat or birds! I'll make sure they receive attentive, compassionate care. I'm dependable, patient, and have plenty of energy for long walks, playtime, and keeping active pets engaged. If your pet prefers a quieter pace, I'm just as happy providing companionship, cuddles, and a calm, reassuring presence. As a teacher, I'm organized, responsible, and an excellent communicator. You can count on me to follow your pet's routine carefully and keep you updated with photos and messages, so you'll always have peace of mind while you're away. I treat every pet as if they were my own and can't wait to meet your furry, feathered, or scaly family members! Pet care fits naturally into my weekly routine. I work during the day, so I'm available most weekdays after 4:00 PM for evening walks, drop-in visits, feeding, playtime, and medication administration if needed. I'm also available on many weekends and can often accommodate morning, afternoon, or evening visits. Your pet's safety, comfort, and happiness are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has unique routines, preferences, and needs, and I take the time to learn what helps them feel safe and comfortable. Whether it's maintaining their regular feeding schedule, administering medication, cleaning litter boxes or habitats, or following specific care instructions, I'll treat your pet with the same love and attention I would give my own. I believe in open communication and will provide regular photo and message updates so you always know how your pet is doing while you're away. I respect my clients' homes, keep them clean and secure, and make sure doors, gates, and enclosures are safely closed before I leave. My goal is to provide dependable, compassionate care that gives both you and your pets complete peace of mind.
“Sophia was great with our dogs! One of our pups had some tummy troubles while we were away and she was especially a trooper for handling that for us! Would definitely recommend!”

About: I’ve grown up in a home with dogs and have always been comfortable around them. I had a Labrador before, so I’m very familiar with daily care, routines, and spending time with dogs. I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Animal Science in 2025 and also have some experience interning at a vet clinic, which helped me better understand animal health and behavior. Since summer 2024, I’ve been helping friends with dog sitting, walking, and boarding. I’ve done three long-term stays (over a month each), so I’m comfortable caring for dogs for extended periods and helping them settle in. I’m responsible, patient, and happy to send updates and photos while you’re away! I’m currently a student, but I have good availability in the mornings before 8am and in the evenings after 5pm, so I’m able to do walks and spend quality time with your dog during those hours. I’m also flexible on weekends and can adjust based on your pet’s routine. I’m happy to follow their usual schedule to make sure they feel comfortable and well cared for. I live in an apartment right now, but I make sure pets have a clean, safe, and comfortable space. I take dogs out for regular walks and make sure they get enough exercise, attention, and care throughout the day. I pay close attention to their behavior and always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding, routines, and any special needs. I’m also happy to send regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease.
About: I have had 4 cats and 2 dogs throughout my life. I absolutely love animals and grew up pet sitting for family, friends, and neighbors!! Grew up with all kinds of pets, my personal specialty being feisty rescues. Love them all and happy to accommodate special care instructions!! I am a full-time grad student, so morning and evening visits are preferred - although I can often accommodate one lunchtime visit during the week! I care for pets in the clients home only, as I have a temperamental rescue cat at home that isn’t trusting of other animals. I am happy to accommodate special care instructions for all kinds of animals and will be sure to give lots of love every time I visit! Feedings, walks, litter pickup, play time, etc. (:
About: Animals have always been a big part of my life, especially cats. Over the years, I have become the go-to pet sitter within my friend group and regularly care for my friends’ cats while they are away on vacation. I also grew up informally pet sitting for neighbors and friends, giving me experience caring for pets in a variety of home environments and routines. I currently care for my own cat, Reami, a 3-year-old Ragamuffin whom I have raised since he was a kitten. Reami has anxiety-related health issues that can contribute to urinary tract problems, so I am very familiar with providing attentive, patient, and consistent care for sensitive pets. Because of his needs, I understand the importance of maintaining a calm environment, monitoring behavior closely, sticking to routines, encouraging play and enrichment, and making sure pets feel safe and comfortable while their owners are away. In addition to caring for Reami, I have also helped care for my roommates’ cats in the past, including feeding, playtime, litter box maintenance, and general companionship. Through these experiences, I have become comfortable caring for cats with different personalities, energy levels, and temperaments — from shy and anxious cats to highly social and playful ones. While I mainly prefer cat sitting, I also have some experience with dogs, including walking friends’ dogs and taking them on hikes and outdoor outings. I am happy to provide patient, attentive care tailored to each pet’s personality and comfort level. As a sitter, I prioritize communication, reliability, cleanliness, and making sure pets receive plenty of attention, affection, and enrichment while their owners are away. I am a graduate student whose lab is only a 15 minute walk away from home. My schedule is extremely flexible and except for few meetings throughout the week, my schedule is fully up to me. I am also able to leave at any point for short breaks to take pets out for walks/ check up on them. I prioritize creating a calm, safe, and comfortable environment for every pet I care for. I understand that pets — especially cats — can be sensitive to changes in routine, so I do my best to keep their schedule and environment consistent while their owners are away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I carefully follow all instructions regarding feeding, medications, litter box cleaning, playtime, exercise, and any specific routines or preferences. I also provide regular updates and photos so owners can feel reassured that their pets are happy and well cared for. As the owner of an anxious cat with special care needs, I am very attentive to pets’ behavior, comfort, and stress levels. I value patience, cleanliness, reliability, and making sure every pet feels safe, relaxed, and loved.
“We had to leave our goldendoodle for three days while out of state. She had not been left alone since being boarded at our vet 4 years ago, so we had concerns. Heather was wonderful! She came to our house twice before we left to learn our dog's habits and become familiar with her. Heather stayed at our home during our time away. She followed our dog's schedule to perfection (feeding time, potty time, nap time, bed time, play time, etc.). The day after our return, our dog was looking around for Heather. Heather also updated us regularly, including photos. I would recommend her highly, and hope to use her again.”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my strong background in animal health and professional husbandry. Through my experience shadowing veterinarians, I’ve developed a trained eye for animal behavior and wellness. I know how to recognize the subtle signs of when a pet is feeling "off" or needs extra attention. I also have professional husbandry experience working with mice in a laboratory setting. This background means I am incredibly detail-oriented, strictly adhere to feeding and medication schedules, maintain rigorous hygiene protocols, and have a gentle touch with delicate or timid animals. I currently work remote for Yale as a PhD student, which allows me a great deal of flexibility to prioritize your pet's needs. On weekdays, I am fully available except maybe a few hours throughout the week for walks, playtime, and feedings. My weekends are completely open for overnight boarding, ensuring your pup is never left alone for long periods and receives constant companionship and care. My home is a 'pet-first' environment where safety and mental stimulation go hand-in-hand. For my two cats, I maintain a strict vertical-space setup and regular 'puzzle feeding' to keep them engaged. I am highly experienced in managing slow introductions and reading subtle body language to ensure all animals feel secure. I maintain a chemical-free cleaning routine to protect sensitive paws and noses, and I’m diligent about 'double-door' safety to prevent escapes. Whether it's ensuring fresh water fountains are clean or providing a quiet, crate-ready retreat, I treat every guest with the same meticulous care I give my own cats.

At the moment I have fully open availability and keep my rover schedule up to date! Anything changes will be kept up to date. . I have a lot of experience with my own animals and grew up taking care of the neighborhood dogs and cats as well. Katherine was above and beyond my wildest expectations! I had never left my kittens with a stranger before and was super nervous. She did a meet and greet, sent me regualr updates (and the cutest pics), and made sure my girls were the number one priority. My kittens definitely fell in love with her and her daughter over the course of the week. I can't imagine a better sitter!

Jassmyne took care of our cat (Tati) for a fairly long stretch (2 weeks), and she was fantastic. She was very communicative throughout, sending lots of pictures and updates, and she handled it calmly when Tati came down with a small cold. She also took great care of our house while we were away. Tati clearly liked her. I strongly recommend Jassmyne!

Conor spent 24 hours at our home with our elderly dog overnight. We arrived home to a happy, calm pooch and our home was just as we left it. Conor was timely, respectful, communicated well and sent photos. He even left a note for when we got home. We appreciated meeting him prior to booking and will definitely use him again in the near future. Thanks Conor!

Brithny was an absolute gem taking care of my dog, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. From our very first meet and greet, she put me completely at ease, she even brought her own dog sana along to help the dogs get comfortable together, which showed just how thoughtful and prepared she is. You can tell right away that she has real experience with dogs and genuinely understands them. Throughout her time with my dog, Brithny went above and beyond. She took him on fun little adventures and made sure he was active, engaged, and well cared for the whole time. She was gentle with him, responsible about his routine, and clearly poured a lot of care into how she looked after him. On top of that, she sent frequent updates and photos, which meant so much to me while I was away, since I always knew exactly how he was doing. I felt so relieved knowing my dog was in such capable, caring hands. Brithny is exactly the kind of sitter every dog owner hopes to find, and I’ll absolutely be booking with her again. I recommend her without reservation.

Reine did an AMAZING job sitting for our dog and cat! Our pup is prone to separation anxiety and can often be nervous around new people, but she is clearly very experienced with this and helped make him at ease right away. She even gave us behavioral suggestions for how to help him with these things in the future. She gave us frequent updates and really went beyond what I expected to make sure the animals were well taken care of. I highly recommend her!

When I had a night shift, Christopher came and took care of my dog, Honey, and did a spectacular job! He followed every direction/request without an issue, went above and beyond by offering to give Honey medication before he left, took photos promptly, and cuddled her when there was a bad thunderstorm, will book again!

Karime was amazing! She accommodated a very last minute request and took great care of my girls while they were dealing with some serious allergies. She communicated consistently and promptly and also took note of when things seemed concerning. Great and caring sitter!

Kat was an absolutely awesome dog sitter. My husband and I were looking for someone to stay in our home last minute and care for our dogs and Kat was immediately responsive and proactive. She was timely, followed instructions, provided updates throughout the day and the dogs were very well cared for. I would highly recommend Kat as a dog walker or dog sitter. We hope to work with her again!

I was so pleased with Joo’s ability to connect with my 2 dogs. Both are rescues and have specific needs: Lizzie is fearful and very anxious; Quigley was a stray—perhaps for years—and is house trained only when his human is home. She handled both of their needs with compassion and kindness. They warmed up to Joo quickly. Joo sent my photos and videos of my kids while I was away. It was obvious that they were having a really good time. That put my mind at ease and a smile on my face.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred New Haven walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in New Haven maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in New Haven choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
