I was so impressed with Heather. She did a great job with my two furbabies (two small dogs). I was so nervous to leave them, but she took excellent care of them. She was commmunicative and responsive the entire stay. My younger dog can struggle to warm up to new people, but she was incredible with him- he clearly liked her a lot. Heather was also flexible about changing the booking dates around so that I could spend more time with my dying parent. It meant the world to me to be able to spend an extra day at home. She also kept the apartment clean and tidy and even washed the sheets for me. I was so grateful and appreciative for Heather’s help with my dogs while I was away. Would definitely use her again for future pet sitting needs!

Alex was awesome housesitting for us and our two rescues. He was accommodating and has a soothing way about him which is great for the dogs. He administered pills and even hand fed our fussy girl. We are definitely using him again … if he will have us!

Katie was a wonderful house/dog sitter for our two dogs. They were well cared for and loved while we were away. That was very evident when we came home to two happy and relaxed dogs. It was very clear that Katie spent a great deal of time with them. Such a plus! We really appreciated the updates/photos, and she was so kind to answer all my questions. This was the first time we used Rover. We were very apprehensive and had some trepidation prior to leaving. However, Katie far exceeded my expectations. We’s absolutely have Katie (if she would agree) watch our dogs again. Thank you, Katie! 🐶

Megan was fabulous! We needed a dog sitter last minute to stay over the weekend and she responded right away. She came over for a visit to meet our dog and walked through everything; our dog immediately loved her. She arrived on time and treated our pup and home with care and respect. We are so grateful! Highly recommend.

Josh was a fantastic sitter, and we had a great experience with him. He house sat for us and took excellent care of our cat. What really stood out was how quickly he bonded with our cat who is typically very shy to meet new people. He was reliable, communicative, and clearly very comfortable around animals. We came home to a happy, well-cared-for cat and a house that was just as we left it. Overall, Josh did a wonderful job, and we would definitely hire him again in the future!

Dahn stayed at our house with our pups while we were out of town for 2 nights. We felt very comfortable with Dahn here and everything was exactly how we left it. More importantly she took great care of our dogs and sent constant updates and pictures. Our Marley gets scared when it’s storms and there was a storm while we were gone. Dahn gave her extra love and made sure she felt safe! We will definitely use Dahn again and would highly recommend her

About: I’ve had dogs since I was 5, did an internship at a doggy daycare, and am always the go-to when friends and family need a pet sitter. I work part time with no long hours, so I’ll be able to hang out with pups nearly all day and feed them/take them outside at appropriate times. I have three dogs that are allowed free roam around the house but are sometimes kept in a big room downstairs with lots of windows and a sliding glass door. They love other dogs — my family and I will often take them to the dog park where they have lots of friends.

Camila was the ABSOLUTE BEST with our Mipha. She watched our sweet kitten for over 2 weeks while we were out of town and took wonderful care of her. She was very communicative and sent several pictures and videos each day. On top of that, Mipha LOVED her and was watching her out of the window as she left, waiting for her to return. We will definitely book with Camila again.

About: I can't imagine my life without animals. My family has owned several different species of animals since I was born, and I now own a standard poodle and domestic short hair cat. I understand they are not just an animal, but a member of the family who needs to be treated as such. I am comfortable walking, grooming, and feeding any size and aged dog. Walking can either be at a slow pace, or jogging, I just have to be informed prior. If I am dog sitting, I will be sure to give extra pets and loving to each animal, and can also groom the dog if requested. Looking for consistent clients.

Hannah was fantastic! We have an elderly, small dog who is always anxious around new people, but somehow she warmed up to Hannah immediately. About: Caring for animals has been a constant part of my life. I grew up in a home that always had two dogs at a time, and before moving out, my family had raised six wonderful dogs together. From energetic pups to older companions, I’ve experienced the full range of what it means to care for dogs through different stages of life. I currently share my home with two special-needs cats, which has taught me patience, attentiveness, and the importance of understanding each animal’s unique personality and needs. Managing medications, monitoring behavior changes, and creating a calm, safe environment are all things I take seriously. My primary goal when caring for your pet is simple: I want them to feel happy, secure, and relaxed while you’re away. I also know how important peace of mind is for owners. I’m communicative, reliable, and happy to provide updates so you can feel confident your pet is safe and cared for. I treat every animal with gentleness, respect, and the kind of attention I would want for my own pets. I work remotely in IT for a nonprofit organization, which gives me a very flexible weekday schedule. Because I work from home, I’m able to provide consistent supervision, regular potty breaks, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I genuinely enjoy having some furry company during the week. Whether that means a midday walk to break up my workday or a fuzzy companion nearby while I’m at my desk. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I’m happy to structure my schedule around walks, feeding times, medication needs, or check-ins. Your pet won’t be left alone for long stretches, and you can expect consistent updates while you’re away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect your routines and instructions carefully. I follow feeding schedules, medication needs, walking routines, and house rules closely so your pet’s world feels as consistent and familiar as possible while you’re away. I also provide regular updates so you can feel confident everything is going smoothly. If your pet stays in my home, their comfort and safety are my top priorities. They will have their own dedicated space in my finished basement office that is clean, hazard-free, and separate from my cats. This allows visiting pets to relax without feeling overwhelmed, and ensures everyone stays safe and stress-free. The space includes a comfortable couch just for them, plenty of room to stretch out, and a calm environment away from household noise. I’m home during the day, so they’ll receive regular supervision, potty breaks, playtime, and attention, balanced with quiet time to rest.

About: I’ve always cared for dogs for friends and family since I was in my teens. I’m comfortable with dogs of any breed large or small. I’m very active and can assist with walks and playing to get that energy out in a productive way! Currently transitioning careers so I have plenty of time to play and walk with your pups! Weekend availability also, just kindly let me know in advance. I’m very clean and organized and always leave a place better than I found it. I would bring that level of care to your home

I especially liked her voice memos with detailed updates about how everyone was doing. I would definitely recommend her services!

FAQs for House Sitting - Orange

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Orange on Rover is $88.8 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 2,177 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Orange. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Orange walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Orange maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Orange choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Orange. On Rover:

  • 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 98% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
