“Maria was very responsible and respectful and took great care of my dog Mia while we were away! She sent lots of pictures and updates, which is always appreciated. She definitely cares about the animals she sits for and we will definitely be using her again!”

“Have had Nicole housesit twice with us. Each time she is prompt, extremely communicable, and able to navigate not only complicated instructions for each of our two dogs, but also how complicated our house is with codes, alarms and construction workers. She looked after my middle-aged slow Bichon who needs constant food and attention and our new rescue dog who is 10lbs of energy and desperate to escape. She handled them both with grace and sent lots of pictures and videos. I am happy to know I don't have to worry now when I travel!”

About: I have cared for dogs my entire life and have experience with dogs of different ages and needs. I am dependable, attentive, and passionate about animal care. I enjoy spending time with dogs and ensuring they feel safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I currently work from home so I have a lot of free time. Why not spend time with furry friends! It’s also a great opportunity to take a breather and get fresh air during daily dog walks. When caring for pets in a client's home, I ensure that their daily routines are maintained to keep them comfortable and stress-free. I also make sure the home remains clean and secure while providing pets with plenty of attention, affection, and companionship. I am attentive to each pet's individual needs and committed to creating a safe, loving environment while their owners are away.

“I cannot recommend Melanie enough. She looked after our senior dog while we were on an extended trip overseas. I received numerous photographs of him looking healthy, happy and loved, and his affection for her was obvious on our return home. Melanie kept our house immaculate and also maintained good contact with us while we were away. She is extremely responsive to emails, punctual, and has an excellent work ethic. I felt extremely comfortable while away knowing Chessie was in her care. THANK YOU!!!!”

“Nicole was great with Sky and Sid! She was super communicative, asked great questions, and sent us lots of updates and photos throughout the day. It was such a comfort knowing they were well cared for. Would definitely recommend!”
“Jessica was great with our Senior dog. She was prompt, followed all instructions. Most of all she really knows her stuff and seems to care about dogs. We came home to a happy pup and clean house. Will book Jessica again!”

“We came home to two happy and well cared for pups! Our previously booked sitter had to cancel a week before our trip, and we're very grateful to Hanaya for looking after them on such short notice!”

“Shannon is a responsible, kind and trustworthy caretaker of Ziggy, our doodle. She was very attentive of Ziggy, helpful in preparing his meals (which involves cooking), and sent me plenty of updates. Ziggy is not a dog who trusts easily, but he loved Shannon from the get go. Shannon stayed at my house for a few nights and was a lovely house guest. I am relieved to have found her and cannot say enough great things about her!”

“Emma was great! She was extremely professional. She took amazing care of both my pet and my house while I was away. I would highly recommend her and will definitely be calling her again. Perfect all around.”

“Joe was not kidding when he said he will be your dogs “new best friend”! My pup loved him! They went through a heat wave together and Joe was very careful to make sure Harry was hydrated and happy even in the extreme heat. Joe sent lots of pictures so I knew that Harry was well cared for. Highly recommend!”

“Crystal was great. She was helpful teaching me about training a husky i recently adopted thos week. My doggie adored her and cat Jackie. She provided pictures. Great sitter who communicated keeping my anxiety at bay. I am using her again.”

“Chris did a great job taking care of my dogs while i was away on a work trip. We did a meet and greet beforehand where he asked a lot of good questions. During the stay he kept me closely updated on how my dogs were doing and sent a lot of pics which was nice. Would definitely recommend. Professional and a big dog lover.”

“Me and my husband were worry to leave Chloe for 14 days but Ashley and Mauricio were absolutely amazing! They stayed at my house with Chloe and they took amazing care of her! They sent me a lot of photos and videos and I can tell she misses them already! Thank you s much for taking such great care of Chloe! You deserve more than 5 stars ?”

“This was our first time hiring someone to stay with our pup and Andrea was a godsend! Not only was she amazing with our dog, but she was in constant communication with us while we were away. We felt comfortable having her in our house and know that our dog had the BEST time with her. Any time we travel we are booking Andrea!”

“Dagmar is truly the absolute BEST. I was incredibly nervous about leaving our dog baby overnight during our winter and spring travels, but from the very beginning, Dagmar put my entire family at ease. Her attentiveness, kindness, and genuine love for animals were immediately clear, and it's made all the difference. Plus, I could tell our dog was also comfortable with her right away. She cared for our dog as if they were her own. She is thoughtful, patient, and completely reliable. Sends lots of pictures and updates through out her stay. We've come home to a happy, well-cared-for pup, and that peace of mind is priceless. It’s not easy to trust someone with a beloved pet, but with Dagmar, we never had a single doubt. We feel so lucky and grateful to have found her. We look forward to working with her on-going and cannot recommend her highly enough!”

There are multiple big lawns and dog parks in the neighborhood. Pets can run freely at home and play safely outside. We will strictly follow feeding and walking schedule you prefer for your pets. “We hired Jocelyn to housesit our dog Arthur and she was fantastic! She was a great communicator from start to finish, sent us lots of photos, and went the extra mile to ensure he was well taken care of during our trip. She also left our house exactly as it was when we left and was a gracious guest. We would absolutely book her again!”

“Vladimir is the best! I was really anxious about leaving our dogs for the first time in a long time, but he is basically the dog whisperer. On first meeting, our dog Rocket, who is very nervous and avoids people, approached him in the first few minutes. We got daily photo updates and some nice professional shots at the end. They had a great time and I was completely at ease knowing they were in good hands. Will definitely hire him again! THANK YOU!”

I cannot say enough wonderful things about Maria. She is so intelligent, diligent and kind. She sent us updates regularly and we knew Zeus was well taken care of with Maria. For the first time ever, Zeus was sad to see a dog sitter leave. He sat at the door for hours hoping she would come back. We will hire Maria for all our dog sitting. I highly recommend here. Best dog sitter we have ever had in 5 years.

We cannot thank and recommend Crystal enough! We had booked Crystal as our former pet sitter moved out of state, and like many pet parents, we’re anxious to leave our fur babies with someone new for a week-long trip! Crystal went above and beyond following instructions and providing updates. It’s so clear she loves animals, and we are so thankful we found her!

I am simply amazed at the care that Chris gave to my 2 havanese dogs and 2 kitty’s. It was beyond my expectations. Not only is he a fabulous person himself but he takes care of not only your pets but your home as well. Five stars does not explain his level of service. 10000 out of 10. Chris is truly one of a kind. He is simply fantastic ❤️

Anastasia dog sat our dachshund for 2 weeks and I couldn’t have felt more comfortable. She is warm and friendly and a great communicator. She spent a lot of time with our dog during the day which is what we wanted and he actually seemed tired when we returned which was a relief and we were happy he wasn’t in his crate for long stretches. Our dog really loved her and I loved getting pictures of them snuggling on the couch. I was able to relax and not worry about his care and him being left in crate unstimulated for most of our time away which made me so happy. Our dog can be nervous at first with new people and she patient with him. Highly recommend and will use again!

Alexa was so communicative and attentive. Our pups loved having her stay with them. Even in an emergency, Alexa cared for our pups in the same way we would have and it made us feel better knowing they were being taken such good care of. Will absolutely be using her services in the future!

If you want to leave your dogs with someone and never worry at all about their mental well-being, their feeding needs, their exercise then you need to hire Jesse as your sitter. He's taken my care of my dogs for many days and I will say there is no better. Not only were my dogs, completely relaxed and happy, but my house was also immaculate and every instruction was followed to the tee, including the complicated medical things that one of my dog needs to have followed. Jesse is all around the best I've had!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Stamford on Rover is $80.25 per night (as of August 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 8,266 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Stamford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Stamford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Stamford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Stamford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Stamford. On Rover:
- 88% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
