We were fortunate to have Dana house sit for us on relatively short notice. She watched our 13 year old dog and 2 cats. We received updates and came home to some happy pets and a tidy house.

She was on time, sweet and you can immediate sense she loves her job. I will definitely use her again.

Dagmar is truly the absolute BEST. I was incredibly nervous about leaving our dog baby overnight during our winter and spring travels, but from the very beginning, Dagmar put my entire family at ease. Her attentiveness, kindness, and genuine love for animals were immediately clear, and it's made all the difference. Plus, I could tell our dog was also comfortable with her right away. She cared for our dog as if they were her own. She is thoughtful, patient, and completely reliable. Sends lots of pictures and updates through out her stay. We've come home to a happy, well-cared-for pup, and that peace of mind is priceless. It’s not easy to trust someone with a beloved pet, but with Dagmar, we never had a single doubt. We feel so lucky and grateful to have found her. We look forward to working with her on-going and cannot recommend her highly enough!

Vladimir was an amazing sitter. I think Bertie had more fun with him than she does with us ?. Every day he sent great updates with lots of pictures and an overview of their day. He was also a great house guest that left our apartment very clean and took care of his own linens. We will definitely look to book Vladimir the next time we need a dog sitter!

Brandon completely went above and beyond to care for our two cats and home while we were gone for a week and a half! He asked thoughtful questions, followed all directions to a T, and often sent some greatly appreciated picture/video updates (and prompt responses). We were SO grateful to return home to find our cats in amazing spirits after clearly having some solid companionship, and to find our house exactly as we left it. Would absolutely book with him again!

Have had Nicole housesit twice with us. Each time she is prompt, extremely communicable, and able to navigate not only complicated instructions for each of our two dogs, but also how complicated our house is with codes, alarms and construction workers. She looked after my middle-aged slow Bichon who needs constant food and attention and our new rescue dog who is 10lbs of energy and desperate to escape. She handled them both with grace and sent lots of pictures and videos. I am happy to know I don't have to worry now when I travel!

About: What sets me apart is the genuine care and attention I give every pet. I’m an animal lover who understands that every pet has their own personality, routine, and needs. My goal is to make them feel safe, comfortable, and loved while you’re away. I’m reliable, patient, and committed to following your pet’s routine, whether that means walks, playtime, feeding, medication, or extra cuddles. I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages, from energetic puppies to senior dogs who need a little extra patience and care. I’ll also keep you updated with photos and messages so you always know your pet is happy and in good hands. I treat every pet like they’re part of my own family. I’m currently part time working! Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine because animals are a big part of my life. I make time each day for feeding, playtime, walks, attention, and making sure pets feel comfortable and cared for. Since I have two cats of my own, I understand the importance of keeping a consistent routine and providing companionship, even when owners are away. I’m able to incorporate pet care into my schedule by dedicating time for visits, walks, check-ins, and giving each pet the attention they need. I enjoy spending time with animals and love being able to provide reliable, loving care for pets and peace of mind for their owners. I care for pets by creating a safe, comfortable, and loving environment while respecting their normal routines. In a client’s home, I make sure to follow their instructions closely, including feeding schedules, medications, playtime, walks, and any special needs their pet may have. I understand that pets feel most comfortable when their routines stay consistent, so I do my best to make the experience as stress-free as possible. If caring for pets in my own home, I provide a clean, calm space where they can feel comfortable and receive plenty of attention, affection, and care. Whether at my home or a client’s, I treat every pet like they are my own and make sure they feel safe and loved.

Claudia stayed with my senior dog who needs medicine 3 times a day for 6 nights and I was thrilled with how well she was taken care of. She was walked several times, provided outdoor exploration in my fenced yard and gave loads of belly rubs! Claudia was very responsive to all of my requests during the six days and I would be happy to hire her again sometime.

About: I have 3 years of pet-sitting experience. Then I took a 2 years gap for traveling and just came back to Greenwich CT in July. That’s why most of my Rover reviews are from 2 years ago. Have experience with all ages pet including oldest 16 years old senior dog to puppies, also cats. I am totally an animal lover and treat them like my own baby. I will update pet parents everyday with pet’s videos. I own a small neutered Maltese boy who’s only 5 lbs. We stay at home the whole time. We promise that we will give the best care to your pets and look after them with patience and love. We send video updates to pet parents everyday. We have big open spaces in our house. There are multiple big lawns and dog parks in the neighborhood. Pets can run freely at home and play safely outside. We will strictly follow feeding and walking schedule you prefer for your pets. We needed a fill-in sitter for one weekend. Vinny got along with our pups and kitty really well and respected our home. I appreciate that he listened to our training requests with our youngest pup and not allowing him to jump. We had a last minute curveball with our oldest pup and she needed extra attention, she was well looked after. We felt at ease the entire weekend and came home to a calm, happy household.

FAQs for House Sitting - Greenwich

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Greenwich on Rover is $83.25 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of September 2026, there are 16,812 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Greenwich. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Greenwich walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Greenwich maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Greenwich choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Greenwich. On Rover:

  • 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
