“I’m not kidding, I’m tempted to gatekeep but won’t because Alyssa deserves all the love and dog jobs in the world. Seriously, best dog sitter ever. Thoughtful, sent daily summaries and photos, my reactive dog was so HAPPY!!! I feel truly lucky to have found her. 10/10. She is the best. Will rebook again and again and again as long as she wants to keep watching pups.”

“Catie was so wonderful to our pup during our weekend away! She came over in advance for a meet and greet and to understand the routines, sent regular updates, and administered oral medicine! We’d be happy to have her back anytime she’s available!”

About: I bring attentive, knowledgeable care tailored to your specific creature and their specific personality. I've been pet parent to dogs of all sizes, from Chihuahuas to Great Danes to my current Sheepadoodle — there's no dog size or personality that's too much or too little, IMHO. And my experience extends well beyond dogs — cats, snakes, farm animals 🐐, and more. I also happen to share my home with a ball python named Fettuccine Alfredo 🐍, who is a distinguished, low-drama fellow. As a plant parent, I will watch after yours indoor jungles, outdoor gardens, that one fiddle leaf fig you're nervous about. If you need someone who will actually look at your monstera and not just splash water in its general direction, that's me. (My avocado tree, grown from a pit, is thriving. I'm not taking questions.) Housesitting, dog walking, drop-in visits, basic training — I've got you. And if you're going away and need the whole ecosystem looked after, pets, plants, and all, I'd love to meet you. Pet care fits naturally into the rhythm of my week. My mornings are consistently free, which works well for walks and drop-in visits, and I have flexibility on Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends for longer stays or housesitting. On days when I'm teaching in the afternoons and evenings, I'm still available in the mornings — and I keep my schedule intentionally manageable so I'm never stretched too thin across clients. This isn't something I'm squeezing in around a packed schedule — it's something I've made genuine room for. When I'm in your home for drop-in visits or housesitting, I treat it with the same care and attention I'd give my own. That means following your routines exactly as you've set them, keeping things tidy, and making sure your pets are comfortable and unstressed in their own environment. I take detailed notes at meet-and-greets so nothing gets missed while you're away. On walks, I keep dogs leashed and attentive to their individual energy and needs — a reactive dog gets a very different walk than a social butterfly, and I know the difference. I bring over thirty years of animal experience to reading body language and behavior, so I'm not caught off guard by much. My own home includes a ball python and two cats, so I'm well practiced in managing a multi-species household safely and calmly. I don't offer boarding, which means your dog's visit to my home would only ever be for a meet-and-greet in a low-key, relaxed setting. In any situation that feels off — health, behavior, anything — I err on the side of contacting you immediately and getting to a vet if needed. You'll never be left guessing.

About: Love dogs all kind. First I pet seat my friend’s dogs when they were away. Then I got my own dog. Alaska is a 34 lbs pomsky. She is very playful and would like a company. I can take your dog to a dog park or the dog beach. Both of those amenities are next to my house. Moreover I have small fenced yard for playing with bunch of balls.I work from home , so have a lot free time to pet sit fur babies and take them for plenty of walks. If you are away for a short trip, book your pet a bed and breakfast inn in my house. I will take care of your furry friend either at my house or yours. Currently work from home. Very flexible. However prefer drop offs and pick ups in mornings. If pick up after 3 pm addition charge may apply I have fenced yard where. I can let dogs out for quick pee and play if needed. However I take them on walks at least 2 times a day. If good weather, I may take them to the dog park or rye beach

About: What sets me apart is that I’ve cared for dogs through every stage of life. I grew up with three dogs starting when I was 12, so I have experience with everything from managing puppy energy to giving older dogs the patience, gentleness, and attention they need. I’ve also helped friends and family with their dogs over the years, whether that meant walks, drop-ins, or caring for them while they were away. This is the first time since childhood that I’m living without dogs, and I’d love the chance to help care for yours like they’re my own. I work full-time during the week, so weekends are the best fit for me right now. That’s when I have the most flexibility and can give dogs more of my time and attention without feeling rushed. I live in a house with a front and backyard, giving dogs plenty of room to relax, play, and get fresh air. There are also several parks nearby, so walks and outdoor time are easy to work into the day. I know every dog is different, so I’ll make sure to follow their normal routine and keep them comfortable, safe, and cared for like they’re my own.
“Becky was absolutely amazing with our 10-year-old dog while we were away for a week. She gave our dog her medication reliably and sent us frequent updates and photos. This was our first time leaving Nala with someone who was not our family or friends but Becky took care of our girl like family. On top of that, she went above and beyond by caring for our home and helping with things like bringing in our packages while away. We came back to a happy, healthy pup and a clean home—couldn’t recommend her more!”

“Emma was absolutely amazing . She was so great with my rescue. He has social anxiety but would have never known with how quickly he bonded with Emma . She went above and beyond in communication and giving extra care to my needy dog. Highly recommend”

“Joyce was an absolute pleasure to stay at our house and take care of our pup! She was great at communication, taking pictures, and loving our sweet dog. We will definitely be using her again! Highly recommend.”

“Tenielle was great watching Sal! I’ve rebooked her twice now to watch our old pup. She sends updates and pictures keeping us updated throughout the stay. Highly recommend her! Thanks Tenielle”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Purchase
Kerry took wonderful care of our senior dog, Reggie! He has special needs and requires medication, so leaving him is never easy. Kerry was so patient, kind, and attentive, and the updates gave us complete peace of mind while we were away. We are incredibly grateful for the excellent care Reggie received and would happily book with Kerry again. Highly recommend!

Jennifer took great care of our puppy while we were away for the weekend. When we came back, he was happy yet calm, which makes me feel like she was a great comfort to him while we were away. She sent updates every day (just the right amount of communication- neither too much nor too little). Our home was exactly as we had left it- so Jennifer did an excellent job of keeping him from destroying our house ☺️

FAQs for House Sitting - Purchase
Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Purchase on Rover is $105.22 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 17,880 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Purchase. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Purchase walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Purchase maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Purchase choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Purchase. On Rover:
- 89% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 93% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
