“Callan was great house sitting for our two dogs for several days. He arrived a few mins early to the meet and greet and the dogs warmed up to him right away. Would highly recommend.”

“Maya was on time, responsive, sent pictures and videos of our pet, and seemed knowledgeable and experienced about pet and home sitting. She handled everything well and was respectful and professional. Thank you Maya!”

“I have a pretty anxious and leash reactive boy and Meaghan was great with him! She sent regular updates and photos, and I hope she’s available the next time I go out of town.”

Because peace of mind isn’t a luxury — it’s a promise. Consider me as your on-call pet sitter. I have currently moved to California all the way from the east coast. Whenever you need me, I’m here ! How I Care for Pets in Your Home – With Safety, Trust, and Comfort at the Heart of It All When I care for your pets, whether I’m house sitting, walking them, or simply dropping in, their safety and comfort are my top priorities. I understand that every pet has a unique routine, personality, and needs — and I take the time to learn and follow your instructions closely to ensure they feel secure and loved in your absence. I provide regular walks, playtime, feeding, medication (if needed), and gentle companionship, always with an eye on their behavior and well-being. For drop-ins and walks, I show up reliably and treat your pet like my own — keeping them on safe routes, away from hazards, and paying close attention to their body language and comfort. I always prioritize secure leash handling, water breaks, and positive reinforcement. Your trust means everything to me, and I care for your pets and home with professionalism, love, and integrity.
“Carla was phenomenal!! I was able to feel relaxed and comfortable while on my vacation as she tended to my two dogs and looked after my house. I would recommend her anytime and will absolutely be using her again!”

“KiAnna was willing to arrive by 6:45 AM so we could depart by 7:15 AM. She took great care of Chester and we will be asking her to house sit and take care of Chester again!”

“Katie takes excellent care of our senior pets (2 cats and 1 dog). Everyone stays on their usual schedule, including medication, and they’re in a great mood when we return home.”
“Mylinda was very professional and had a great way with both Ella and Milo (dog and cat). She left my home better than when she arrived and most importantly shared photos of my furry friends while I was away. Highly recommend her. K”

“This is my second time having Sarah stay with my dogs- she is communicative, sends cute update pictures and is super kind and flexible. She took great care of our babies and would definitely book again!”

“Eleni was wonderful! She truly bonded with our dog, and it felt so nice to go on vacation knowing that he was being well cared for. We would absolutely work with her again!”

“Detail oriented, thorough, kind, excellent planning and foresight, just awesome! This was my first Rover experience at the time of my booking I had an elderly dog and three cats, we had not gone on vacation in years due to our dog having arthritis and other health issues, but we had gotten her to a point where she was doing really well and we felt we could leave her with someone. I needed someone who could administer meds, live at the house and be otherwise highly attentive to her needs and our cats. I had about given up on some of the people I’d spoken with on Rover, I just didn’t feel comfortable with anyone. Enter Jillian. In our initial texts I got a very positive vibe and immediately liked her. We hadn’t even met yet but I could tell she was a gem. When she came to the house to meet our pets she was aces and again I instinctively knew she was going to be great. Since our meeting our dog very suddenly passed away and when I let Jillian know her response was compassionate and she gave me some time to figure out what we would do. When we spoke again we decided on two visits a day for the cats and she sprang into action to adjust our booking. Jillian was every bit as great as I knew she would be and even surpassed my expectations. This woman is thorough, she thinks ahead, she looks to solve issues even before they happen. We had a snow storm while we were gone and she made sure she got to the house. We received daily photos of all of the cats, who by the way hide from strangers all the time, but not Jillian! I think she’s a cat whisperer of some sort. She was on time for her visits, left the place clean, took her shoes off to walk around the house, so thoughtful!! On prior vacations when I’ve left my pets I always notice they’re a little ‘off’ when I return, not with Jillian. They were very much themselves which speaks volumes. I highly highly highly recommend her. We are already booking another trip because this was the first time in years that I really relaxed and didn’t feel any worry about the pets.”

“Bridget was fantastic! She had great communication and provided regular updates and photos. In everything I received, the animals looked so happy :) i was very confident my pets were well cared for. I would absolutely recommend Bridget for your pet car needs!”

About: I've raised my own cat, Bug, age 2, since he was 2 months old, alongside my roommate's cat whom I've lived with for 4 years. I've also raised over 30 houseplants and have vast knowledge of a variety of plants and their needs. Additionally, I've been around the many animals in my family my whole life and have sat for relatives' cats and dogs of all sizes over the years. I'm currently in between jobs as I relocate from North Carolina to Connecticut and ultimately back to NYC, so I have a pretty open schedule! Happy to alter my plans around pet care and house sitting. I'm also a gigging musician so there are sporadic nights and weekends that may become unavailable, but I am largely looking to be a sitter while I'm in CT. Willing and able to care for indoor/outdoor pets, go on walks, make sure cats and dogs get plenty of play and pets as desired, give treats, clean and maintain home spaces, and whatever else you may need!
About: I have taken care of my own dogs since 7 years old and have dog-sat for several neighbors over the past 5 years. I also have handled pets from 1 year old to 16 years old! I am a college student, with plenty of time to care for any furry friends! I am available 5 days a week, including weekends for all your needs! I make sure that my own dog does not get into any trouble by using gates around the house! I will make sure to always keep a close eye on clients’ dogs and can crate them if needed.
About: I’ve been dog sitting and walking my parents dog for 5 years and have done the same with other friends dogs as well. I love dogs and will gladly help other dog owners take care of there pups in anyway i can! As a teacher, my summers are open and i couldn’t think of a better part time job to help fill the space. I am available Tuesday-Thursday 3pm-6pm until June 10th and after that, on those same dates, 11am-3pm. On weekends i am available 9am-12 noon. I cannot host pets unfortunately due to my condo complex not allowing them. If that policy changes i will gladly host pets in the future.

My availability is currently wide open for the summer up to July 7th! Any day of the week at any time (as long as no booking conflicts between multiple clients). I’m very flexible due to this open availability, making me reliable as a sitter. I am very reliable and sensitive to your pets needs. For many pets, it’s already so hard to be separate from their owner. So I create a friendly environment to offer the support and attention towards mood and health during this time.
About: Being raised with dogs, cats, and other various kinds of animals since I was 6 years old, I’m not a stranger to small (or even big!) feet following me around the house. From love and snuggles after a long day, to laughing at zoomie episodes, my family has built our lives around our animals. And I would love to add your pet into my happy story. Rest assured, you can leave your fur-baby with me for peace of mind, and can expect them to be loved, cared for, snuggled, and protected as you would do. I have experience with energetic, senior, and pups with allergies and/or meds. I primarily work part time away from home mid-week in the evenings, but work from home the rest of the time, so I have plenty of time to dedicate to being home for your baby. I am an avid communicator and will be making sure I follow all necessary instructions left by you (feeding needs, medical needs, etc.). If I’m not sure on something, I’ll always communicate to make sure to provide the best service to your and your baby.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Hartford
Priscilla has taken our dog on weekly walks and also just watched her while we were gone for our wedding. We were so grateful to have her watch our dog and couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter. She is genuinely the best and we knew our dog was in good hands so we didn’t have to stress. She gave us updates and was always responsive.

Sophia and Lily did an amazing job watching our two dogs and our cat. They sent us daily updates on how everyone was doing which gave us peace of mind knowing our fur-family was in good hands. They are very responsible and left our house clean when they left. I would highly recommend them for pet sitting especially if you are looking for someone who can stay in your home.

Meredith substituted for our regular cat sitter over the Christmas holiday. She did a great job of communicating with me and with our usual sitter (regarding the logistics of taking over, etc.), and our four cats and home were well taken care of under her watch. We will definitely hire Meredith again when/if our regular sitter isn't available.

Lindsay stayed in our home with our 3 year old dog for the past week and it was a great experience. Lindsay sent photo updates and kept me informed on Patti’s eating, sleeping and potty trips. The house was left in perfect order and Patti was so happy and unstressed. We would definitely use Lindsay again!

This was my first time hiring a dog sitter outside of my own family, and I couldn’t have asked for a better experience with Isabel. I was impressed from the very start, not only did my dog warm up to her right away, but Isabel immediately made me feel comfortable and confident leaving my dog in her care. She asked all the right questions, offered thoughtful recommendations, and really took the time to understand my dog’s needs and personality. During the stay, Isabel was fantastic with communication, sending regular updates and tons of happy, adorable pictures that gave me such peace of mind. Even when my dog unexpectedly needed an emergency vet visit (through no fault of hers), Isabel was completely on top of it. She could tell something wasn’t right and didn’t hesitate to act. She kept me informed throughout the entire situation and made sure my dog was okay and settled before leaving. On top of that, Isabel was able to watch my sister’s dog alongside mine, and she made the effort to meet both dogs beforehand, asking additional questions to make sure she could care for each of them properly. Every photo I received showed two happy, relaxed pups; it was clear they were in great hands. Overall, Isabel went above and beyond. I will absolutely be booking with her again!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in West Hartford on Rover is $55.5 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of July 2026, there are 1,537 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across West Hartford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred West Hartford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in West Hartford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in West Hartford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in West Hartford. On Rover:
- 93% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 97% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
