“Careen was wonderful with our senior dog and he loved her just as much as she loved him! She gave him lots of love and attention- I could tell he was very well cared for while we were away. We got lots of pictures and updates so I was completely at ease. We can’t wait to have Careen watch Shadow again!”

“Dyan did a great job caring for my dog, Pippin. I could tell he was very comfortable at her house with her and Aiko. Communication was great, she was flexible and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again with her in the future!”

“Cruz Maria has taken very good care of our Scout every time he has stayed with her. She frequently sends us multiple pictures of him playing in the back yard with the other dogs. She has accommodated our special requests for pickup and drop off. On one occasion they had a boarder who didn’t get along with the other dogs he was reportedly sent home promptly. If your dog doesn’t play well with others then seek a sitter who only takes one at a time. Scout is always happy when we drop him off and when we pick him up which is our sign of a good stay.”

About: Um. Let’s see I have 3 dogs of my own and I know how unsettling it is to trust your babies with strangers who don’t understand them. Like what do you mean you don’t wrestle them down with kisses and tickles. You’re a monster. 🤷🏽♂️ I start my day at 4 am so my dogs are up pretty early. I let them out in the yard when I start the car for the gym, when I return we go on our breakfast walk, come home eat and then we go out back before I log in for the day. Most days my guys get 3-4 walks because it helps me with a fitness routine, going outside and clearing my head since I work remote. Our pets have full access to our home; however, during the day the are normally in the office with me because I can open the side door and window. Their crates and beds are also in there so anyone staying with us would most likely be in there; If we’re not outside we’re on the porch, back deck or walking.

“If you need a pet sitter - Pauline is your girl!! I can’t thank her enough for hosting my two dogs in her home for the night. I received photos & an update within 30 minutes of dropping them off - & without having to check in myself - which I absolutely loved & appreciated. I then received updates all throughout the day which is exactly what I needed! She was VERY attentive to the dogs, asked about/followed their normal routine & updated me if she sensed anything was wrong or if the dogs seemed uncomfortable (one of them was exhibiting signs of an ear infection). I know my dogs were well taken care of and enjoyed their stay. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for a better sitter and we are so very grateful to Pauline!!!”

“Janelle and her family were wonderful caretakes of our puppy. She is very attentive to his needs and gave him a lot of attention and love. He is very happy there and we would highly recommend Janelle!”
“Our two dogs had a great 4-night stay with Lisa! She listened carefully to the special instructions for our larger, anxious dog. Both pups were calm and happy during their stay. Nice location in a quiet, convenient spot with large house and yard.”

“Trenton was wonderful. It was the first time leaving my large breed baby with a sitter and he was patient a d answered all my questions. I received daily updates, pictures, and videos. First time leaving my cane corso with someone else. I would not hesitate to call on him again”

“Araceli was very sweet and accommodating with my dog Bella. This was my first experience using rover and she made it as seamless as possible. She provided photo and video updates which I appreciated! I would definitely book with Araceli in the future for doggy care!”

“Ricky and his family provide the best care for my girls! They are extremely loving, caring and flexible! I am so appreciative always for the love they give my girls! ❤️🐾”

About: Caring for animals has been a lifelong passion of mine. I’ve had and cared for animals for most of my life. About ten years ago I fostered for 8 years, I’ve fostered both healthy and sick cats and dogs. During that time, I provided love, comfort, and the special attention each animal needed to thrive. For the last two years, I’ve also been caring for other people’s pets, treating each one as if they were my own. My clients consistently give me great reviews, noting my reliability, compassion, and deep understanding of animal behavior. Animals have always held a special place in my heart, and ensuring their safety, happiness, and well-being is something I take great pride in. I have a flexable private practice and love to take walks and cuddle with the animals. Care for pets fit in well. I love traveling to peoples homes mostly in the work I do. I care for pets by following their established routines and providing a safe, calm, and attentive environment. In my home, I make sure pets have a clean, pet-proofed space with plenty of supervision, regular potty breaks, exercise, and enrichment. I follow all feeding instructions carefully, administer medication if needed, and ensure pets get appropriate playtime, rest, and affection. In a client’s home, I respect the pet’s normal schedule to minimize stress. This includes feeding, walks or litter care, playtime, medication, and companionship. I also keep the home tidy, bring in mail or packages if requested, and provide regular updates with photos so owners feel confident their pet is happy and well cared for. Across all services, I prioritize safety, positive reinforcement, cleanliness, and clear communication with pet owners.
“My dog had a great time while staying with Chris over a long weekend. He sent pictures throughout the weekend and I could tell my pup was having a great time. Great backyard for the dogs to play, lots of outdoor time and walks. He limits how many dogs stay over the weekend, so I know she was not overstimulated with too many dogs at one time. She was tired and happy when we picked her up. I also booked with Chris within 5 days of needing someone, and I could not be more grateful. I will definitely use his services in the future!”

“Jennifer and her family took exceptional care of our dog, Matilda. They took their time to allow Matilda to acclimate to their home, while sending updates and pictures throughout the day. This was our first time leaving Matilda with a non family member and I couldn’t be more pleased. It took a lot of stress away knowing she was in such good hands. I would highly recommend Jennifer to watch your furry member of the family.”
“I can’t say enough great things about Adrienne! From the moment I contacted her, she made me feel at ease about leaving my dog in her care during my trip. She went above and beyond in every way, keeping me updated with photos and videos of my dog throughout the day, which honestly made me so happy to see. It was clear that she not only took great care of my dog but also genuinely enjoyed spending time with her. Their kindness and attention to detail were truly exceptional. I highly recommend Adrienne to anyone looking for a sitter who is not only reliable but also incredibly thoughtful and kind! Thank you so much for all you did!”

“We loved our sitter, Nancy L. for Hershey. Hershey had a great time and enjoyed his time with her. He went on a lot of walks. And we received a lot of pictures from Nancy. We will definitely book with her again.”

About: I have experience with animals who have special needs. It can be stressful thinking about leaving your pet. Especially if they are on a special diet or in need of medication. I know how important this is to follow. I work full time with 2 days off a week. However, I live just 10 minutes away from work. I am able to check on your pet during my lunch break. I only take one animal in at a time, unless they are from the same household. I live in a condo. We have plenty of sidewalks and grass areas to walk your fur baby. I will make sure they have their feedings, and leave out water during the day. We will watch TV together in the evening. At bedtime I allow the animal to sleep in bed with me. I want your pet to feel like this is their second home.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - West Hartford
We had a wonderful experience! Our dog was well cared for, and it was clear he was happy and comfortable during the stay. We appreciated the updates and photos, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. We’d definitely book again and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a caring and reliable dog sitter.

I highly recommend Klaudia. She did a great job with our dog, Macy. Klaudia has a kind family and two sweet dogs of her own. She sent several pictures, which I loved. I could tell our dog was comfortable and happy with Klaudia. I was worried Macy may not want to come home with us! We will definitely be coming back in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in CT ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
