“Maddie was great with Lola and Luther at our house over the weekend. She was very responsive and took extra good care of our pups. We will definitely use her services again!”

“Hannah was amazing! She responded any time I contacted her, was punctual when meeting the dogs for the meet and greet, and during her stay she sent photos and kept me apprised of how the dogs were doing. I have a very elderly high-maintenance dog, and she handled him with grace and compassion. She truly went above and beyond to make them comfortable and less anxious. She is welcome in my home anytime!”

“I was so impressed with Heather. She did a great job with my two furbabies (two small dogs). I was so nervous to leave them, but she took excellent care of them. She was commmunicative and responsive the entire stay. My younger dog can struggle to warm up to new people, but she was incredible with him- he clearly liked her a lot. Heather was also flexible about changing the booking dates around so that I could spend more time with my dying parent. It meant the world to me to be able to spend an extra day at home. She also kept the apartment clean and tidy and even washed the sheets for me. I was so grateful and appreciative for Heather’s help with my dogs while I was away. Would definitely use her again for future pet sitting needs!”

“We returned to a clean house and a happy doggie! Katie sent pics all week and updated us on Abby! I felt so comfortable knowing our Abby was in such capable hands with Katie!”

“Alex was awesome housesitting for us and our two rescues. He was accommodating and has a soothing way about him which is great for the dogs. He administered pills and even hand fed our fussy girl. We are definitely using him again … if he will have us!”

“We were extremely satisfied with Sam’s care of our 15-month-old Chihuahua, Max. He is very active and requires a lot of attention, and I left Sam with quite a few notes about his care, including administering his ear drops. She followed everything perfectly and took excellent care of him while staying in our home. Sam was responsible, attentive, and clearly wonderful with Max. She also left our home absolutely spotless, which we really appreciated. We will definitely be rebooking her services and highly recommend Sam to anyone looking for a trustworthy and caring pet sitter!”

“Dogs were a little hyper from an exciting day when she arrived. She did great helping them to calm down and have a good visit while I was at a work event. Great communication and the dogs were happy. They remembered ger from the last visit too which was nice”

“Taylor was an excellent house sitter and care giver for our dog! From our first engagement through messages, she communicated promptly and clearly. For our meet and greet, Taylor asked great questions that showed she was knowledgeable with dogs and well experienced. During her stay, she communicated updates and photos regularly. We were able to enjoy our vacation knowing everything was well cared for. It was clear she was a good fit for our dog and family. We will definitely have Taylor back and would be happy to recommend her to others!”

“Our first time with Zach and hopefully not our last. He was punctual, reliable and so attentive to our older dog who needs some extra care and patience. Zach sent lots of updates and photos throughout his stay. He followed Kona’s schedule to a T and even came back for an extra walk last minute the next day.”

“Lindsay is amazing with my two dogs! They are deaf which is a challenge in itself and Lindsay handles them with ease! She’s very communicative and the girls seem to love her. Would recommend Lindsay for your next booking.”

“Alex was incredible. She just gets it!Great with four dogs who never missed a beat with Alex. Alex stayed three nights and left the house impeccable. She graciously agreed to vacuum and pick up poop in the back yard. We came home to a house that looked as good as when we left. Thank you, Alex!”

“Wonderful as always, took care of our two cats and our big needy dog while we were away for five days, excellent communication and caring sitter! Pets are always delighted to see her and even our very shy cat comes out to greet her.”

“ABOVE AND BEYOND!!! Heather and Chris are AMAZING!!!!!!!! Not only are they extremely sweet, they are professional. Heather is very responsive and will answer any text or call in a heartbeat. She followed all my directions I left and gave my babies amazing care. My little ones are all tuckered out now, which is usually impossible. You can tell this is a passion of hers. She and Chris are so personable and so kind. They stayed at my house to watch my two dogs and they were respectful and cleaned things they didn’t even need to clean. 10/10 recommend.”

“We used Kris and Angelica during a week long trip to the west coast to house sit with our 8 year-old Labrador retriever, Finnegan. Everything went extremely well - we received lots of updates with pictures throughout the week and returned home to a very happy dog. Moreover, the house was immaculate and they had taken care everything we asked them to during the week. We would happily use Kris and Angelica again!”
“We met Jen prior to her staying with our cat, Buddy and we knew she would be perfect. She was attentive, asked questions and she made us feel comfortable about watching Buddy. Jen sent photos and videos while we were gone and never left a doubt that she was the right choice to stay with our cat. We will certainly have her back.”

“Marney was perfect to care for our pack while we were away for a few days! Not only was she loving, but she brought comfort with medical matters for our dog with Addison's disease, who relies on life-saving medication daily 🩷 Besides that, she appropriately managed a separate unlikely medical emergency that occurred - without over or under-reacting, and keeping open helpful communication with us the whole time. We are so grateful to her 🪷”

About: I’ve grown up in a home with dogs and have always been comfortable around them. I had a Labrador before, so I’m very familiar with daily care, routines, and spending time with dogs. I graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Animal Science in 2025 and also have some experience interning at a vet clinic, which helped me better understand animal health and behavior. Since summer 2024, I’ve been helping friends with dog sitting, walking, and boarding. I’ve done three long-term stays (over a month each), so I’m comfortable caring for dogs for extended periods and helping them settle in. I’m responsible, patient, and happy to send updates and photos while you’re away! I’m currently a student, but I have good availability in the mornings before 8am and in the evenings after 5pm, so I’m able to do walks and spend quality time with your dog during those hours. I’m also flexible on weekends and can adjust based on your pet’s routine. I’m happy to follow their usual schedule to make sure they feel comfortable and well cared for. I live in an apartment right now, but I make sure pets have a clean, safe, and comfortable space. I take dogs out for regular walks and make sure they get enough exercise, attention, and care throughout the day. I pay close attention to their behavior and always follow the owner’s instructions carefully, including feeding, routines, and any special needs. I’m also happy to send regular updates and photos so you can feel at ease.
“Matt was available within a few days notice. Ruby was very happy to stay home with him. He played, walked and hiked with her every day and sent us a daily update with pictures. We knew that she was happy and well taken care of! He also took great care of the house and everything was clean and tidy when we returned. We highly recommend Matt and will definitely have him stay next time we go away!”

The median cost per night for house sitting in Milford is $65
Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Milford
Words are not enough to say how amazing Robin is, she went above and beyond taking care of our pups and house. This was our first time leaving our pups with a complete stranger and felt like Robin was sent to us for a reason, we felt so good knowing that she was with our pups, she loved and cared for them and our house was 100x better than when we left. She is extremely thoughtful, communicative, and caring. I am so glad to have found her.

This was my first time having Madelyn watch my dogs and I could not have had a better experience! Both of my dogs got sick right before I had to leave and I was so worried about not being there with them. But Madelyn was extremely professional, communicative, understanding, and patient...and my dogs were very well cared for when they needed it most. I am thrilled with my experience with Madelyn!

This is the second time Ali has watched our dog, Rosie. Ali is great. Very responsible and dependable. She took great care of our house and Rosie. She is a real animal lover and clearly enjoys spending time with Rosie. We will most definitely ask her to stay in our house and watch Rosie again.

Eric did a great job for us! We adopted Beau 4 months ago, this was our first time leaving him for a vacation. Eric communicated regularly and sent photos. We could tell that Beau was happy and felt safe. Eric is kind and trustworthy. Our home was in perfect condition upon our return. Knowing that things were going well at home allowed us to relax and enjoy our trip. We highly recommend Eric!

Frequently asked questions about Rover
The average cost for House Sitting in Milford on Rover is $44.4 per night (as of September 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.
Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of September 2026, there are 2,097 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Milford. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Milford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Milford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Milford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Milford. On Rover:
- 91% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
