“Kona had as great of a vacation as we did! We felt guilty leaving our new rescue, but Keeley made everyday fun and exciting for our high energy pup - long walks and lots of attention...and even a pup cup for our spoiled girl. Keeley sent great pictures. Aside from dog care, we had her take care of our cats, plants, mail and house. Everything looked great. Highly recommended!”

“Courtney was a great house/dog sitter for us! She was prompt, professional, eager and enthusiastic. She took great care of our dog, taking her out for multiple walks and play-times each day. Gogo was a happy pup when we returned home! We’ll definitely book Courtney again in the future!”

“Raeven was extremely communicative and agreed to watch our pup Zora on very short notice. We got tons of pictures and communication and came home to a very happy and tired dog from their walk together. One of the best dog sitting experiences we’ve had so far and will definitely book Raeven again!”

“Bella has been the absolute greatest sitter for our dog, Winnie. Our poor girl has anxiety whenever we are not around. This was the first time we left her with a sitter, so we were not sure how she would react. Poor Winnie struggled at first when we left and even had some health issues which required medical attention . Bella sprang into action and got her the care she needed and Winnie quickly got better with her love and support. She also kept us updated on her progress daily and sent us great pictures of her which my family really appreciated since we were all worried and missed her. Once Winnie adjusted, Bella became her “person” and Winnie followed her everywhere. When we got home everything was neat and clean and our mail was brought in for us. We really loved using Bella and she will be our go-to sitter for any future trips. We are very lucky to have found her. If you want someone who cares for your pet just like you would, Bella is the best person for this. Winnie looks forward to future care with her!”

“JJ was a lifesaver. She was able to house sit with my 10 year old Lhasa Apso, Gus, when I had to be out of the house for hours. Gus suffers from separation anxiety but JJ was able to keep him calm and cuddling and distracted and engaged the entire time I was away. JJ sent me texts and pictures all day because she knew I would worry. It wasn’t long before I was 100% confident my little guy was in caring, capable and loving hands and I had nothing to worry about.”

About: Hello! My name is Brittney and I have been caring for dogs and many other animals since I was a young kid. I grew up pet sitting and dog walking for family friends and neighbors and now with this app I am able to continue to do so. I currently have one dog, Macie who is wonderful and loves to play or lounge, really whatever I am doing she is right there with me. I love all dogs age and size don’t matter to me! I love to walk dogs and am just looking to exercise and care for other pets in the area in my free time! Hope I can meet your dog or other pets soon! I work in the school system so I have summers off and a very flexible schedule. I am primarily home during the summer months and my boyfriend also lives and works from home so we are regularly around most of the day! All needs of the pet depend on each one. I am adaptable and eager to work with what your specific pet needs. I am happy to exercise, play, administer meds, etc.
“Heather was great with Mars, who seemed very happy after they spent a few days together. Pet “parents” will find her very flexible, accommodating and easy to work with. She clearly loves dogs.”

“Kaitlin was absolutely wonderful, and I can’t recommend her highly enough. She was incredibly communicative from start to finish and kept me updated with lots of photos and messages, which gave me complete peace of mind while I was away. Most importantly, she took amazing care of my dogs. They looked genuinely happy, relaxed, and well loved in every update. It was obvious they were getting plenty of attention, affection, and excellent care. If you’re looking for someone trustworthy, reliable, and truly caring, Kaitlin is an outstanding choice. I would gladly book her again without hesitation!”

About: My love for my own pets inspired me to continue working with animals during college! With a major in psychology and a goal of working with therapy animals in the future, I love learning and growing as much as I can. I have professional experience in animal shelters, and a therapy animal program! I'm hoping to spend more time gaining experience working with animals. Not only is it enjoyable to hangout with furry friends, but it will be beneficial to my future career working in animal assisted therapy! I recognize that every animal is different with their own little personality. Hearing from owners about their recommendations, and getting to know the animal has never failed!
“Alea was incredible while she watched our dog Piper for 4 1/2 days. She took great care of Piper, checked in with us the perfect amount, and left our house cleaner than she found it. Alea is friendly, punctual, and an overall pleasure to deal with. We would welcome her back to our home anytime.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - North Branford
I cannot say enough great things about Bella. She takes care of our dog Winnie like she is her own. Our girl is very nervous when we are not around but absolutely loves Bella. We are so thankful to have found her. We always receive daily photos of our girl as well as updates of how she is (which means a lot of our family). Every time when we come home, it is to a clean house and a happy pup. Thank you again Bella for the wonderful care that you provide for Winnie. We all look forward to the next visit.

JJ absolutely saved us! We have an elderly dog with dementia who needed a lot of care. Our only other option was to euthanize her, since we had to be out of state for our son’s wedding. JJ met with us and took the time to get to know our dog, then went way above and beyond to care for her in our home. I’m sure it was a difficult task, but she got her through the week. This gave me the extra time near the end of my furry girl’s life to make decisions based on her health and not because of having to be out of town. She stayed in touch with us the whole time, cared for my old girl, (and left the house immaculate.) We are extremely grateful to JJ, and now I can rest and cuddle my girl for the rest of her days, however long that may be.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred North Branford walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in North Branford maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in North Branford choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
