About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all kinds since I was 8 and haven’t met a dog I didn’t love. I spent the past 5 years living in NYC where I started dog walking and sitting part time before moving back to CT. I can handle all dogs of all ages and sizes. Accepting evening and weekend walks only. Same day / last minute bookings will be accepted depending on my availability. Fully booked for mid-day weekday walks. Kind and careful to all requests. About: I've pet-sat for dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, and guinea pigs since 2001. My sittings have ranged from a few hours to two weeks. I've sat for family, friends, and many parents here on Rover. My family has included two cats, Cleopatra and Caesar, and dogs Valentine, Athos, and Teddy. My goal as a sitter is to offer stability and enrichment while their parent is away. I'm available for drop-ins and overnights and happy to care for your home during the stay, watering plants, etc. My schedule is very flexible outside of my 9-5 at Yale. Why I love pet sitting Who doesn't love some fuzzy company? And I understand from watching our family pets how disorienting a kennel can be. In-home sitting puts pets (and you!) at ease when you're away, so they can enjoy the "vacation" just as much as you can! My experience administering medication I've given pill medication via pill packs and oral liquid medication via syringe. If your dog requires medication, happy to discuss. (In case you're wondering why my testimonials haven't been updated recently, it's because I took a break from Rover to be more available to sit for family and friends. Sadly, some of those lovely pets have passed away now. It means though that I have the availability to return to Rover and I'm happy to be back!) In my initial meeting with a family, I like to get a sense of the pet's routine to determine if I can recreate that for them while their parent is away. My schedule, aside from my 9-5, is dictated by the pet's needs. I prefer to care for a pet in their own home. Before accepting a new client, I like to meet the pet and the parent(s) to make sure we're all vibing. I determine routine/schedule/likes/dislikes with the parent(s) in advance and stay in touch if something needs to deviate, which is rare.

When I was younger, I volunteered at Roaring Brook Nature Center, where I helped care for everything from snakes and lizards to owls, possums, ferrets, and chinchillas. As I got older, my passion for animals took me even farther — all the way to a wildlife preserve in South Africa, where I spent time helping with game drives, tracking wildlife, and learning just how important compassionate, attentive care is for every living creature. My doctor said that keeping mobile is the best thing for me right now, so I figured that spending my time around animals and walking outdoors is a great option for me to continue healing and to have a source of income. I will focus nearly all of my time towards this work as I am unemployed at the moment. I am a big believer in gaining the trust of your pet first. So a slow approach and getting down on their level to allow them to smell and gain trust is important to me. I also love to communicate with animals in a high pitch baby voice as to not be intimidating. I am quite a large man so I feel the baby voice helps with the more skiddish of animals. Sometimes a stern voice may be needed needed given the situation, but almost never used. Your pets will get the exact same love and affection that my pets get every day because they deserve nothing but love.
