“Brinkley had such a great time with Alex. I could tell they played a lot of fetch because Brinkley was sleeping the rest of the day until I came home from work. She made a point to try and meet Brinkley before coming to take care of her to make sure she knew what my girl needed.”

“Sarah is the best! She is always on time, cares about my pup and sends pictures! You can tell my dog likes her just by how comfortable she looks in her pics. We appreciate her so much !”

“Hailey was wonderful with my pets and cared for them beautifully. My senior animals can be a bit finicky, but my lab went right to her during our first meeting, and both cats immediately rubbed up against her. Their trust in her says more than I ever could. She truly connected with them.”

“Crystal was absolutely amazing with ELLA. ELLA took to Crystal as if she had been a part of our family forever. She was kind and nurturing understanding and genuine. I highly recommend Crystal.”

“Adele was an absolute pleasure to work with! She was punctual, dependable, communicative & provides great updates and pictures during the visit! Would definitely recommend if you are searching for a great petsitter!!!”

“Jen is a great sitter as always and is our go to sitter! She does a great job keeping Nico’s litter and food areas clean, and sends cute videos at every visit! Definitely recommend”

“Erin instantly made us feel comfortable leaving our 3 kitties for a week. She offered to come meet us and the cats before booking, and we loved her. One of our cats takes time to build trust and sometimes won’t eat for a bit while we’re away. Erin took the time to build a relationship with her and tried a few different things to help her feel comfortable eating for someone new. Erin spent time with all three cats, played with them, and helped them feel comfortable trusting her. We got pictures after every visit, and excellent communication about how they were doing. Our selective eater was coming out of hiding and eating her food consistently much quicker than she has for others who have come to feed them while we were away. Erin went above and beyond for our babies and made us feel so much better about being away from them. We have already rebooked with her for another trip. Thank you for much for everything, Erin!!!”

About: I currently volunteer at an animal shelter and love working with dogs and cats of all breeds, ages, and demeanors! I also have some basic training experience through my dog trainer, who also specializes in service work and behavioral training. My personal dog, Toffee (basset hound!), lived to be 16, and my favorite time with her was the patient walks and TLC needed as she got older--happy to support your senior animals too:) A couple other tidbits: I have experience working with farm animals (chickens, ducks, goats, and alpacas!) and majored in Environmental Science in college. Looking forward to meeting your furry ones! I balance my full-time job (8:30-4) with pet care through Rover and at the animal shelter. I am happy to work with you to find good times (evenings and weekends included, depending on when). I prefer to meet or provide care at your home, but I also live in a very walkable neighborhood and have a dog park nearby. My house has a fenced-in yard and a sprinkler for the hotter days. While I do not currently have a crate in my personal vehicle, I am happy to get one if you are more comfortable. I also have close friends with dogs and cats if play dates are helpful too!
“Sandy is terrific! My dog Mika took to her right away at their Meet & Greet and was happy to see her when she arrived to walk and feed her a couple of days later. She communicates promptly which I really appreciate. I'll definitely be hiring Sandy again.”

“Sabrina and Daniel were wonderful! They cared for my two chickens while we were gone. Very easy to communicate with. They went above and beyond to send pictures and full details. Would definitely hire them again.”

“I would highly recommend Laura to look after your pet! She was quick to respond to messages and happy to arrange a meet and greet ahead of taking care of my cat. He was well-cared for while I was away and I received such great photos from Laura during her check-in!”

“Keely was great! She came by to meet the boys prior to our vacation and checked in regularly letting us know how they were doing. She was kind and attentive and took all our notes in stride. We would definitely recommend!”

About: Hi, I’m Steve — a lifelong animal lover who has been caring for pets for neighbors, friends, and family for as long as I can remember. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. When I was younger, I volunteered at Roaring Brook Nature Center, where I helped care for everything from snakes and lizards to owls, possums, ferrets, and chinchillas. As I got older, my passion for animals took me even farther — all the way to a wildlife preserve in South Africa, where I spent time helping with game drives, tracking wildlife, and learning just how important compassionate, attentive care is for every living creature. Recently, I was laid off after dealing with a back injury, and I decided it was finally time to return to what brings me happiness: being around animals and helping people feel confident their pets are safe, comfortable, and loved. I’m patient, gentle, reliable, and I treat every animal like they’re my own. Whether your pet needs walks, attention, playtime, or just someone calm and caring to keep them company, I’m here to help and to make sure they feel secure and happy. I’d love the chance to care for your furry family member. I was recently laid off due to ongoing spine problems. My doctor said that keeping mobile is the best thing for me right now, so I figured that spending my time around animals and walking outdoors is a great option for me to continue healing and to have a source of income. I will focus nearly all of my time towards this work as I am unemployed at the moment. I am a big believer in gaining the trust of your pet first. So a slow approach and getting down on their level to allow them to smell and gain trust is important to me. I also love to communicate with animals in a high pitch baby voice as to not be intimidating. I am quite a large man so I feel the baby voice helps with the more skiddish of animals. Sometimes a stern voice may be needed needed given the situation, but almost never used. Your pets will get the exact same love and affection that my pets get every day because they deserve nothing but love.
“We love continuing to book Bella. She is so accommodating, responsible, and trustworthy. We could not be more comfortable with any other sitter in our home and looking after our cat. She is so gentle and patient with our scaredy cat. He has really grown to love her and come out of his shell with her. Thank you so much Bella! Ru looks forward to seeing you soon!”

“Tarah was sooo amazing with my cat, Mao Mao! My husband and I went away for 2 weeks on our honeymoon, which is the longest we've been away before so I was worried leaving her that long. But Tarah eased every single worry I had! She gave amazing updates and pictures of Mao Mao while we were gone, made sure her litter boxes were clean, her food bowl was filled, and that she got lots of love and pets while we were away! She was so responsive and easy to get ahold of and really went above and beyond for us! I would 100% book with Tarah again for any trip we take in the future!”

“Jordan was absolutely amazing!! I’m new to town and needed to find a new cat sitter quickly for a trip. She made me feel comfortable with her presence and my cat adores her (and she adores no one). Thank you for caring so well for my baby!!”

Gillian went above and beyond what we expected. It was very reassuring to have someone with a medical background there for our boys. She always provided photos for her visits and administered medication as needed. I would recommend her to anyone looking for a reliable sitter.

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Northford. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
