“I had Sara come for a meet and greet and could see right away her love for animals. I booked her for drop in visits to take care of my two cats which are my babies. She was punctual, trustworthy, and of course, great with my cats. She played with them, sent me updates and of course pictures. I was able to enjoy my time away while I knew my cats were in great care. I will plan to use Sara again in the future and highly recommend her!”

About: Hi! I’m a pet sitter with 3 years of experience as an emergency vet tech and a lifelong animal lover. I’ve worked in fast-paced ER environments, so I’m calm, confident, and trained in handling pets of all personalities and medical needs. Also, I have a cat of my own who inspires me to give every pet the same love and attention I give at home. With 1 year of pet sitting experience, I provide reliable, compassionate, and knowledgeable care you can trust. I currently work part time so I am very flexible. I am driven to keep your pets comfy and happy. I will work with you on your schedule. I have a backyard and a safe friendly neighborhood to take your animals on walks. I do own a cat, but if needed, I will keep her in my bedroom.
About: I've been taking care of animals, including horses, since elementary school. I’ve had 3 cats, 4 horses, and 2 dogs throughout my life. I recently lost my dog to cancer, and I’m sure my kitty misses having his best friend around. So if your dog is cat-friendly, I would love to watch them! I currently work from home. Watching a dog for a day, multiple days or scheduling a break to come walk your dog would not be a problem. I’m located close to downtown Wallingford and there are great places to walk (especially with a dog!). I know how to care for all ages of dogs, including the elderly and I have experience giving medications. Requested information about your pet Please let me know the schedule of your fur baby - what time they get walked, what time they are fed, etc. I would like to have your fur baby keep to their schedule as much as possible. Also let me know any little tricks or specifics for your dogs, how long they like to walk, if they like to go out immediately after eating, etc. Please let me know the demeanor of your dog as well - are they aggressive? Get a long with other dogs/cats? Anything else! I want to make sure they receive the best care! :) Since I work from home, I am able to schedule breaks to take dogs out and go on longer walks (even hikes!). I can board in my house weekdays and weekends. I have a cat who misses his doggy sister, so he does well with dogs, but he rules the roost! I can crate dogs if needed. I also try to keep my house as non-toxic as possible (chemicals, cleaning supplies, etc) for the health of my pets.
About: I worked for The FurKid company in New York City. There, I walked dogs, as well as provided overnight care for dogs and cats, which includes administering medication to the animals. I'm a teacher, so I am mostly available outside of the 7:30PM to 3:30PM window. I pour a lot of love into the animals I care for, no matter how much time I have with them! I have no pets of my own, so will be able to put all of my energy into yours! I unfortunately don't have a yard, but there is plenty of green space and a dog park in my apartment complex.

About: Hello Rover customers, I have taken care of pets since I was a child and have taken care of my family’s fur babies since my kids were small. I am currently left with my senior cat at home but would love to take great care of your beloved fur babies. I am currently self employed and work part time during the weekdays. I have a very flexible schedule and can accommodate as needed with enough notice! I have a fenced in yard for my animals if needed but I am very careful in customer’s homes and make sure to not leave without checking my surroundings first so no animals gets out the door.
“Tarah was great with our two kitties! She was so easy to communicate with and our cats were well cared for. She provided lots of good photos of them playing. I look forward to booking her again in the future - highly recommend!”

“Hailey was truly exceptional! She took incredible care of our cat Mochi while we were on our honeymoon; not only making sure Mochi had food and some socializing while we were away, but she also brought in a few packages we had delivered while we were gone. She even made sure the litter box was clean when we got home. She sent lots of photos of our girl while we were gone and made the hardest part of the trip - leaving Mochi at home - a non-issue with how great she was. Thank you Hailey for everything!!”

“I had just moved to Cheshire, CT and needed to find a cat babysitter quickly. I am so lucky to have found Christine online. From the moment I met her, I knew I did not have to worry about my 2 cats. She is the sweetest and most caring person you could ask for and her love for pets comes through. I have found a car sitter for whenever I travel in the future.”

“Julie was fantastic while we were on vacation for over a week! She was reliable and spent time with our dog outside and sent pictures each day! She even brushed the hair off our dog as well! I highly recommend her!”

“Wonderful sitter! Communicative and takes great care of Kimahri. Also cleaned up a mess he made that was my fault (I forgot to hide the trash can before I left) which i was super grateful for”

About: Growing up, I spent a ton of time gaining experience with animals to work towards my dream of becoming a veterinarian. In high school I worked as a canine physical therapy assistant, which exposed me to a diverse array of dogs and owners. With a focus on creating a positive experience, I developed my skills in dog handling, reading dog body language, and communicating compassionately with owners. In college, I worked as a veterinary assistant at a small animal clinic, refining those skills from high school, and expanding them to cats and exotic pets. Later during college I started a non-profit with which I provided wellness care for shelter dogs (ear cleaning, sanitary cleaning, nail trims, administering medication) and trained Armenia's first therapy dog. In vet school I worked hands-on with a breadth of species, including cats and dogs, in my clinical courses and labs. I walked beagles from our herd of rescued laboratory beagles, with whom we worked on basic obedience, leash skills, and socialization in preparation for them to be adopted into loving homes. I also chose electives to work more closely with beagles as a dog-walking coordinator and scent trainer. Despite my desire to become a veterinary behaviorist, I found in my experiences that I really enjoyed the interface of animal and human health and behavior, and decided to leave vet school to pursue a career with therapy animals. I then worked at a canine-assisted occupational therapy clinic and dog training facility, which served human occupational therapy patients with 8 staff dogs. There I managed the therapy dogs during therapy sessions, conducted training and enrichment activities for staff and client dogs, and had the unique opportunity to train a new puppy as a therapy dog from 3-6 months. Outside of all of these experiences, I have been a dog owner myself for 18 years. After college I began receiving dog walking/sitting requests from friends and acquaintances who knew my background and wanted a trusted person to care for their pets. After leaving vet school, I finally said yes to one such request and have been walking and sitting for people I know ever since! After experiencing unsatisfactory pet care with my own dog, and hearing others' pet care horror stories, I realized there is a real need for experienced and compassionate dog care professionals. I have a lot of family support with my dog and can't imagine how stressful it is for owners without that safety net to try and find someone they can fully entrust with their pets. So I decided to get on Rover and take the opportunity to support myself through graduate school while doing something beneficial for animals, needed by owners, and enjoyable for me! Given my background, I am comfortable working with pets who have medical support needs and behavioral challenges. I currently work Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday mornings, and most of the day on Sundays. Outside of that, every week looks different for me, so I will accept requests based on my specific schedule at that time. I request that you schedule me for one drop-in visit while you are home before any scheduled visits or walks to allow your pet to meet me in your presence so I am not a complete stranger when I come to provide services (please have their favorite toys and treats on hand so we can create a foundational positive association). I also would like to familiarize myself with your home and your pet's spaces, how I will enter/exit, where I will throw away poop, where your pet's belongings are, etc. Finally, I will do a verbal "questionnaire" to collect all the information I feel is important about your pet (habits, triggers, schedule, challenging behaviors, preferences, verbal cues, etc.) so that I can make the most of my time with them. Of course you will also have the opportunity to share anything you feel is important and ask any questions you have for me! I will care for your pet as if they were my own: with kindness and conscientiousness. As you can see from my scheduling description above, your pet's well-being is my priority. I will not use aversive techniques or punishment to control your pet. I will keep you updated if there is anything I am concerned about or feel you need to know. Unless specific arrangements are agreed upon, I will not take your pets off leash in an unfenced area or to a dog park. I will do my best to preemptively get all the information I need, but if I am unsure about anything during services I will contact you for clarification.
About: Hi there! I’m Emily, and I’ve been caring for pets for over 10 years. What started as helping friends and neighbors has grown almost entirely through word of mouth, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust my clients continue to place in me. Many of the families I work with have been with me for years and regularly recommend me to others. I currently split my time betweenpet sitting and working as a Client Service Coordinator at a veterinary hospital, where I spend my day supporting pets and the people who love them. That experience has made me comfortable caring for pets of different ages, personalities, and routines while reinforcing the importance of clear communication and dependable care. I’ve cared for dogs, cats, rabbits, and other small pets. I know every animal is different. Whether your pet is full of energy, a little shy, or happiest sticking to a familiar routine, I take the time to get to know what makes them feel safe and comfortable. Before every new booking, I like to schedule a meet and greet so we can go over your pet’s routine, answer any questions, and make sure everyone feels comfortable. While you’re away, you can expect regular updates, photos, and the peace of mind that your pet is being cared for as if they were my own. Pet care is something I intentionally build into my weekly schedule. I currently work part-time at a veterinary hospital, and with advance notice I’m able to arrange my schedule around bookings to give your pets the time and attention they deserve, making it a priority to keep their routine as consistent as possible. My goal is for your pets to feel comfortable, cared for, and stress-free while you’re away. I believe the best care starts with keeping your pet’s routine as consistent as possible. Before every new booking, I like to schedule a meet and greet so we can go over feeding schedules, walks, medications, favorite activities, and anything else that helps your pet feel comfortable. While you’re away, I’ll make sure your pet gets plenty of attention, exercise, enrichment, and affection based on their individual needs. I’ll also treat your home with the same respect I would my own; keeping things clean, secure, and following any instructions you’ve provided. You’ll receive regular updates and photos, so you can relax knowing your pet is happy and well cared for.

This is the second time I have had Sara come for drop-in visits for my two cats. She is trustworthy, reliable, and always on time. She gives my cats attention, plays with them and takes great care of them. Sara always sends pictures so I can see how they are doing which I love. I can enjoy myself & not have to worry about them which is most important to me. I’m already booking her again for my next getaway. I highly recommend Sara!

Tracy is great! She has dropped in on our two cats multiple times and is great at following instructions, checking for changes in their routines, and providing great pictures and updates to keep us connected while we're gone. She clearly likes spending time with the animals and cares about making them comfortable and happy.

Emese has been a terrific friend to our older, shy and deaf cat. He tends to be very cautious around people and generally hides, but he clearly feels safe around Emese. We have appreciated the photos she has sent of our senior cat lounging in his favorite spot and posing for her. Thank you, Emese!

Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.

Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Wallingford. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
