About: I have grown up with dogs my entire life and have loved every minute of their companionship. When I went to college I adopted two kittens and since then have gotten a third. I have dog sat for a week at a time; providing detailed care and a friendly demeanor that leaves pets feeling at ease. I am experienced with cats and dogs of all ages. I own 3 cats ranging in age from 1 to 14. I am familiar with litter box training as well as medication administration within food. I am a passionate pet caregiver and have a huge heart that welcomes pets of all kinds. I work in the school systems therefore I am off for the summer! Starting July 27th I am available full time! I am only away August 6-9. I treat all pets with kindness, respect and patience. Animals are my true joy in life and I absolutely love spending time with them. I pledge to treat your pets with the same love I show my own!
About: I’m a PhD student at Yale and live in New Haven with my wife. While I only recently joined this app, I’ve been taking care of my own and others’ dogs, cats, horses and guinea pigs for about nine years now — I love animals and will provide a save, fun experience for your pets! I make my own hours for my day job as a researcher, so I can be flexible and make your schedule work for me - just let me know what you need. I work well with all sorts of animals, including shy or nervous dogs and cats — I will follow your care instructions exactly to make sure that there’s as little distruption to your pet’s routine as possible, and that are safe and happy until your return!
“Courtney is an absolutely wonderful, trustworthy, caring cat-sitter. I feel incredibly lucky to have found her and to continue working with her as my periodic sitter. She has a lovely presence and a calming energy that my cats absolutely gravitate to--she immediately gained their trust and mine. Courtney is responsive and communicative, which really sets me at ease--especially when I've needed to take longer trips away from my two cats. I cannot recommend her more highly!”

About: Dog and cat owner. As pet parents it is our responsibility that our pets live a happy and healthy life. I give that to every animal that comes into my life! Currently working a hybrid schedule in a full-time role, so I’m home pretty often throughout the week! On the days I do go into the office, my mom stops by to take my dog for a walk and can give any dogs staying with me a midday break too. I have a super friendly 3-year-old Golden Retriever who loves other dogs and is always happy to have a friend around! When I’m working from home, I’m here throughout the day and have plenty of time between meetings and projects for walks, playtime, attention, and lots of company. When boarding, I’m home outside of my office hours, and your dog will get lots of playtime, walks, attention, and plenty of time to just hang out and feel at home! My pets are my priority. I always make sure things are put away and out of grasp for my dog. Food is never left out, especially foods that may be harmful to pets. I limit those off of my shopping list as much as possible. When we have other dogs over, they are offered fresh water, treats if allowed and all the toys they could desire. If a dog is not allowed certain toys due to being a shredder or if the toy poses a choking hazard, those toys go in the closet. I’m very careful and attentive, while having fun with all dogs!
“Sarah was an incredible caretaker for our cat over the week we were away! She has a keen intuition that allows her to adjust her activities and how she approaches new cats during visits in ways that meet them where they’re at and helps them feel comfortable more quickly. She was super communicative, sending detailed updates and photos each day, and troubleshooted some feeding issues and even helped rectify the chaos our cat created with some houseplants while we were gone! It was clear from photos that our cat loved her visits and warmed up to her very quickly. Her love of animals and ability to care for them well is obvious and we came back to a very happy cat. We’d highly recommend her services!! Thank you Sarah!”

“I would highly recommend Laura to look after your pet! She was quick to respond to messages and happy to arrange a meet and greet ahead of taking care of my cat. He was well-cared for while I was away and I received such great photos from Laura during her check-in!”

“Kelli was exactly what we are looking for! She followed all of our instructions and made some helpful suggestions that improved the life of our cat without being imposing. She even brought some new litter when we ran out! And she was able to provide insulin injections with very minor instruction. I will continue to trust her with the life and well being of our cat.”

“Heather is so reliable and nice! Send me pictures and how my lovely cat is doing. And even become friends with him in a few days! Wow he always get scared with strangers. Never thought he would get comfortable in just a few days! Will definitely come back to seek another drop in in the future.”

“Jordan was a fantastic sitter who went above and beyond. In the initial meet and greet she asked all the right questions, and during the booking she always kept me up to date with detailed notes about my cat and happy photos. She was very accommodating when I had to extend my trip, and she was on top of things when some of the food ran low during the extended time. My cat is very happy and loves her! Will definitely book again as a trusted sitter.”

“Sandy is terrific! My dog Mika took to her right away at their Meet & Greet and was happy to see her when she arrived to walk and feed her a couple of days later. She communicates promptly which I really appreciate. I'll definitely be hiring Sandy again.”

“Atlas was absolutely amazing! He took fantastic care of my little guy, had a kind presence, and I appreciated he was patience with my last minute request and schedule adjustments. I would definitely book with Atlas again!”

“Emily is awesome! I always feel at ease when I know she is coming to visit my pup when I am at work 🤍 Her post walk reports make me smile knowing my doggo had a fun adventure. Emily is caring and thoughtful, she goes above and beyond! My dog and I 1,000% recommend her 🩵🩵 🐶”

About: My first “job” was dog sitting when I was in first grade. I included snuggling them every night in my promise to owners, and to this day nothing has changed. I work at the children’s hospital as a pediatric audiology extern from 7:30 am-6 pm every day. I would love to dog walk on weekday evenings and I am available to pet sit and dog walk on weekends. Pets’ safety is always the number one priority. With me, your pet will never be unattended or in dangerous situations. I also value other people’s space and home.
“I had a great experience with Anna! She took great care for my two kitties and showed them lots of love. I really appreciate that she was able take care of them despite my last minute request.”

About: Trustworthy, local, and attentive, I have done pet care for family and friends over the course of many years. Having been certified in cat and dog first aid by the Red Cross, I'm equipped to handle an emergency if it occurs. From running with dogs to cuddling with cats, I'm happy to spend time with your furry family members! I work remotely full-time, which allows me a lot of flexibility for drop-ins that are close to home. I can visit anytime during the day, but prefer mornings or evenings to check in on pets. When taking are of pets, I like to build a rapport with them first to get a sense of their personality. Pets are part of the family, after all! Once we've built some trust, I take care of business first (make sure food and water is prepared, bathroom breaks completed/litter boxes emptied), then save time for playing!
About: I’ve grown up with all types of animals my entire life. From dogs and cats to birdies and bunnies, I love them all! I have been blessed to share life with my yorkie-poo for the past 14 years. I’ve had to learn how to give him daily oral medications, eye drops and ear drops to keep him healthy and lively! I’d give the same love, care and attention to your fur babies as well! I am a school bus driver so from the hours of 6-10:30am and 1:30-4:30pm I am unavailable. However, I am quick to respond to any availability scheduling questions you make have! I currently live in a house with a brick-fenced in yard with 1 social senior pup (who doesn’t mind to be crated if need be) however I would love to care for your pet wherever they feel comfortable!

About: I’ve taken care of dogs of all kinds since I was 8 and haven’t met a dog I didn’t love. I spent the past 5 years living in NYC where I started dog walking and sitting part time before moving back to CT. I can handle all dogs of all ages and sizes. Accepting evening and weekend walks only. Same day / last minute bookings will be accepted depending on my availability. Fully booked for mid-day weekday walks. Kind and careful to all requests. Can take control in many different situations. Energetic and active where needed. Calming presence when it’s time to wind down.

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - East Haven
Claudia was flexible about scheduling and met with me due to a last minute change in my travel plans wherein I could not take my dog with me. That in itself was a game changer. An added bonus was that my dog bonded with her almost instantly. My girl is usually very protective of our home but Claudia was great with her. Even my cat, who is extremely timid and usually hides until new people are gone, came out to check Claudia out which speaks volumes about her caring connection with animals. Claudia sent me wonderful photos daily of her outings with my dog, who looked very happy, giving me such peace of mind. Claudia is a very good communicator, making sure of my return date, where to leave the keys, and feeding schedules. She is trustworthy and all was in order when I returned. I was so pleased with her service.

Phoenix was incredible! Absolutely the best cat sitter that we've ever had! He was very attentive to our cat's needs, and he provided such detailed and thoughtful updates every day. Our cat bonded with him so easily. He fed her well, played with her, and kept her litter box very clean. More so, he's a really kind, considerate, honest, and communicative person. So grateful that we found him, and would 1000% recommend him to anyone looking for a pet sitter.

Dustin is the absolute best! It’s only because of him I was able to leave for two weeks and enjoy time with my loved ones for the holidays. He is trustworthy, consistent, and reliable. He was patient with my girl, Marshmallow, and accommodated to her needs. My family and I are so grateful for Dustin, and I plan to rebook him in the future.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in East Haven. On Rover:

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
