About: Caring for animals has been a constant part of my life. I grew up in a home that always had two dogs at a time, and before moving out, my family had raised six wonderful dogs together. From energetic pups to older companions, I’ve experienced the full range of what it means to care for dogs through different stages of life. I currently share my home with two special-needs cats, which has taught me patience, attentiveness, and the importance of understanding each animal’s unique personality and needs. Managing medications, monitoring behavior changes, and creating a calm, safe environment are all things I take seriously. My primary goal when caring for your pet is simple: I want them to feel happy, secure, and relaxed while you’re away. I also know how important peace of mind is for owners. I’m communicative, reliable, and happy to provide updates so you can feel confident your pet is safe and cared for. I treat every animal with gentleness, respect, and the kind of attention I would want for my own pets. I work remotely in IT for a nonprofit organization, which gives me a very flexible weekday schedule. Because I work from home, I’m able to provide consistent supervision, regular potty breaks, and plenty of attention throughout the day. I genuinely enjoy having some furry company during the week. Whether that means a midday walk to break up my workday or a fuzzy companion nearby while I’m at my desk. Pet care fits naturally into my routine, and I’m happy to structure my schedule around walks, feeding times, medication needs, or check-ins. Your pet won’t be left alone for long stretches, and you can expect consistent updates while you’re away. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I respect your routines and instructions carefully. I follow feeding schedules, medication needs, walking routines, and house rules closely so your pet’s world feels as consistent and familiar as possible while you’re away. I also provide regular updates so you can feel confident everything is going smoothly. If your pet stays in my home, their comfort and safety are my top priorities. They will have their own dedicated space in my finished basement office that is clean, hazard-free, and separate from my cats. This allows visiting pets to relax without feeling overwhelmed, and ensures everyone stays safe and stress-free. The space includes a comfortable couch just for them, plenty of room to stretch out, and a calm environment away from household noise. I’m home during the day, so they’ll receive regular supervision, potty breaks, playtime, and attention, balanced with quiet time to rest.
“So appreciative of Grace and her care for my furbabies while I was away. I loved her check-ins and sweet photos she took of them and knew they were in great hands!!! Highly recommend!!”

About: I've been a dog owner for the last 20 years. All my dogs have been rescues, several have been shy dogs that needed extra TLC. I have a special talent connecting with shy dogs and helping them come out of their shell. I also love working with extroverted dogs who love to play and interact. I have a full-time mostly WFH job. I'm available for after-hour drop ins and walks, weekend visits, overnights, and boarding. I know how hard it can be to find petcare (especially during off hours) and I'd like to help with that. My home is safe and secure with a small fenced in backyard away from the road. I have two dogs to keep your pets company. I can help with crating your dog as well. Our home is quiet, serene, and private.
“Joseph is great! This was our first time using Rover. Our cat Walter loved him! Joseph was always on time and sent us photos and updates promptly! Highly recommend”

“I can leave my cat with Jen and feel confident that she will be given the attention and care she deserves. Jen is an all-star, and I am fortunate to have her taking care of my companion.”

About: I've had dogs my entire life and currently have two of my own. I'm comfortable with walks for leash-trained dogs, playtime, feeding, and providing plenty of love and attention. I can administer oral medications, such as pills, but I'm not comfortable giving injections. I believe in following each dog's routine, using the commands they're familiar with, and creating a calm, positive, and low-stress environment so they feel safe and comfortable while you're away. Pet care fits naturally into my daily routine. I'm currently a full-time remote student, which gives me a flexible schedule to provide reliable care, walks, playtime, feedings, and check-ins throughout the day. Because I spend most of my time at home, I can give pets the attention, patience, and companionship they deserve while keeping their routines as consistent as possible. My goal is to make every pet feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while their family is away. I care for every pet according to their individual routine and their owner's instructions. I take the time to learn each pet's feeding schedule, exercise needs, medications, and preferences to help them feel safe and comfortable while you're away. I provide plenty of attention, enrichment, and patience while respecting each animal's personality and boundaries. My goal is to provide safe, reliable, and compassionate care while respecting each pet's unique needs.
“Jessica was very accommodating with my relatively short notice trip. One of my cats can be very shy but he felt comfortable enough to come for most of her visits. Everything looked great when I returned home. I would definitely use Jessica again!”

“Heather was awesome and someone who is trustworthy kind and has a great attitude and love for animals. My cat was very well taken care of and i will forever be so grateful. This is the first time i had a cat sitter and i am so so thankful i found heather in time. Cannot recommend her enough”

About: As a dog owner of 7 years, I know that our pets are part of the family. I understand how important it is to trust someone with your pet. I try to remain patient and attentive to make sure your pet feels comfortable and cared for. Although I work full-time (8:00–5), I provide reliable pet care mornings, evenings, and on weekends. I can provide consistent and attentive care for your pets. I understand that a pet’s home is their sanctuary and remain mindful when caring for them. I ensure your home and your loved one is treated with care and respect.
“Emily is the best sitter I've known. She treats my kids like her own and they love her I've been using sitters since 1994 and she is truly the best!! We are lucky!!”

About: I have experience with short term and long term pet sitting. I have done drop ins as well as long term sitting while staying with pets in their home I work full time remotely and can work anywhere at anytime. So long as it is a reasonable distance from my home I can drop in at anytime to give your furry friend a walk or just some comfort and a treat. I always ask for a detailed list explaining how your pets should be cared for. I like to know how many times a day they are walked, how often and how much they should be fed, what commands the know etc. I also ask about their sleeping habits as well as their playing habits to ensure they are as comfortable as possible.

About: I can't imagine my life without animals. My family has owned several different species of animals since I was born, and I now own a standard poodle and domestic short hair cat. I understand they are not just an animal, but a member of the family who needs to be treated as such. I am comfortable walking, grooming, and feeding any size and aged dog. Walking can either be at a slow pace, or jogging, I just have to be informed prior. If I am dog sitting, I will be sure to give extra pets and loving to each animal, and can also groom the dog if requested. Looking for consistent clients.

About: Dog owners will love my ability to recognize the individuality and personality of their dog and how well I respond to these to these things. For example, if the dog is an introverted weimereiner, I will try some things to get him to play or take a walk. Taking care not to confuse or irritate him. If the dog is an energetic cocker spaniel, I will always be more cautious and aware of the dog "bolting" out an open door or being generally a little unpredictable. I know this from my experience as a cocker spanielowner and a less active Labrador retriever, and most recently - a brother and sister part pit bull - very active breed pair in New Mexico before I moved here to West Haven, CT. Also, a larger, more active dog will need more walking, playing and activity than a dog who takes more time to transition to a new face. All the above should be done with both the awareness of building a functional and stable relationship between myself and the dog along with any input the owner might give on caring for his or her dog. It seems most important to be available on continual and longest terms possible with most any dog for the sake of stability in the dog's life. I love the learning and fun it takes to get to know a dog.
“Spencer exhibits exceptional kindness and compassion. From their initial meeting, Atlas has held a deep admiration for Spencer. He thoughtfully provided treats to enhance her experience and demonstrates remarkable gentleness and care in his interactions. Furthermore, Spencer consistently shares photographs and maintains communication both during and after each visit. I highly encourage potential clients to consider his services, as he is truly outstanding in his role.”

About: Great to meet you! I have over 14 years of experience caring for a wide variety of animals ranging from dogs to cats to snakes, bearded dragons, and even ants (yes I know)... and the list goes on! Ever since I can remember, I've always loved animals (dogs especially). To fulfill my wish to have a pet, I began volunteering at a local animal shelter and would frequently visit just to spend time with some of the animals and give them some love. There, I was able to learn how to better care for our furry friends, both elderly and young. Being able to play with them was just a bonus for me! While your dog is with me they will have access to a big fenced yard to play in and enjoy. If you'd prefer them to stay in their natural environment, that's fine too! Whatever makes them most comfortable, I'm happy to provide. Every pet's needs & wants are different, which I take the time to acknowledge when caring for them. My top priority is making sure your pets are safe, loved, and content while you're away. Feel free to message me if you have any questions and I'd be happy to help! Thanks for considering me! I'd love to start our mornings off with a nice hike or walk at my nearby beach. Working from home, your pets will get plenty of time and attention in my care! While boarding, they will have access to roam and play about in a fenced in yard under my supervision. Rest assured, I will take care of your babies as if they were my own. Making sure also to give you daily updates so you know your pup is well cared for!

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - West Haven
Katherine was amazing, especially with my senior dog! She gave him his medication at the correct time, took him on lots of walks, and dealt with his separation anxiety well. I could tell she really cared and that they both enjoyed each other's company. She sent tons of cute pictures! She also did a great job of feeding my cat, who predictably decided to hide every time Katherine visited. But she wasn't alarmed by the lack of cat sightings and just reported on her feedings and how much food she had eaten between visits. I would definitely hire Katherine to petsit again! She was great!

I was very pleased with Joseph’s reliability and concern for my cat Rhiannon during my recent two-day trip away. Rhiannon is not at all used to me being absent more than part of a day, and she’s easily stressed out. Joe proved to be a reliable, concerned and calming presence, very involved in trying to insure her well-being. He stayed in regular and detailed contact with me. When I got home she seemed very calm and happy to see me again, not at all stressed. I’m sure establishing a rapport with her was not simple, but Joe handled his first caretaking experience of her with responsibility and grace. Would hire him again anytime.
Yunwen was great with our cat, Nemo. She sent regular updates and communicated proactively. I was grateful when she was able to accommodate an additional drop-in after we had last-minute changes to our travel plan. I recommend her 100%, as she was reliable, thoughtful, and trustworthy.

Alan is an incredibly thoughtful and considerate pet sitter. We went on vacation for a couple of weeks and were worry-free due to Alan’s responsive communication and reliability. It’s clear he takes his role seriously. We are so grateful to have hired him. He is a trustworthy and kind individual!

Lamisa was an excellent cat sitter. She was very friendly and easy to communicate with, and genuinely good with cats. She was consistently on time during each visit. I truly appreciated the reliability and care they provided and would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a dependable and kind pet sitter.

Sara is very attentive and conscientious which makes her trustworthy. She was flexible in scheduling to meet everybody's needs. She took really good care of my cat. I could tell, because when my cat has had a good sitter, she is glad to see me when I get home but not frantic for my attention. Finally, Sara got my cat to play in a way I haven't been able to do (and still can't!) which goes to show that she is a true cat person. (I'm sure she takes good care of dogs, too.) I recommend Sara without hesitation.

Anna took care of my cat while I was away, and I honestly couldn’t be more grateful. My cat has a disability, so I almost always get nervous leaving her at home when I travel. Anna was incredibly patient, attentive, and caring, and she made me feel completely at ease throughout the entire time. It was clear that she genuinely cared about my cat’s comfort and wellbeing, and that meant a lot to me. I came home to a happy, relaxed cat, which says everything. I would absolutely trust Anna again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for a thoughtful and responsible pet sitter.

Azeen was amazing with my cat!! She took such great care of her, and I can tell my cat really liked her. My cat is very affectionate and kind of annoying about it (i.e. always begging for attention), but Azeen was wonderful with her and gave her plenty of attention. She sent a lot of great pictures of them hanging out, playing, and her brushing my cat (which she loves). She even spent time trying to debug my litter robot when it decided to act up, and set up a backup litterbox when that became necessary. She did the dishes even though I told her it was okay not to, and she generally kept my home very tidy. Most importantly, I had piece of mind knowing she was taking great care of my cat!! Also had very easy and timely communication. I would definitely recommend her and will be booking again.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
