“Jessica did drop ins for our little kitten, Mipha, while we were gone for a few days. She took excellent care of her, played and gave her affection. Throughout the whole time we were gone she sent photos and gave helpful updates about how Mipha was during each drop in. She was great! We'll definitely select her again!”

About: What sets me apart is my genuine compassion, reliability, and diverse hands-on experience. I’ve cared for a variety of animals — strengthening my understanding of animal behavior and structured care routines. I’ve also been a devoted pet parent to cats, dogs, and many more. I provide personalized care tailored to each pet’s age, temperament, and health, including senior support, medication assistance, and reinforcement of basic training. Pet parents can count on clear communication, professionalism, and dependable service. I prioritize safety, cleanliness, and trust, treating every pet as if they were my own—offering exceptional care and peace of mind. Pet care fits seamlessly into my daily and weekly routine. My schedule is highly flexible, allowing me to accommodate drop-ins, walks, overnight stays, and last-minute requests based on your pet’s needs. I provide care in my clients’ homes to ensure pets remain comfortable in their familiar environment. I carefully follow all instructions, maintain routines, and prioritize safety at all times. I communicate regularly with updates, photos, and messages, giving pet parents peace of mind while they’re away.
“Kara is phenomenal. I've used her twice and she's been great with my puppy Toby. One time I was away on a trip and needed her for an urgent visit, she took care of it immediately. I highly recommend her services. Your puppy will be in good hands with Kara!”

About: Hi, I’m Jessica. My love for animal care started in 2018 when my family rescued our dog, Chase, from a puppy mill in Pennsylvania. Helping him feel safe, understood, and confident pushed me to learn more about dog body language, temperament, leash behavior, and how to care for each dog based on their needs. I originally entered college as a pre-veterinary Animal Science major and gained hands-on experience with animals, including sheep. I also competed in UConn’s Little I competition and placed second. Later, I shifted toward human medicine and changed my major to Allied Health Sciences on the pre-med track, but my love for animals never left. I also worked as a kennel assistant, where I cared for pets in a boarding environment and learned how important routine, safety, patience, and clear instructions are. Dogs are my strongest area, but I also have experience with cats and small animals through feeding and basic care. For pets with more specific needs, I’m very willing to learn and follow your instructions carefully. Before caring for your pet, I’d love to know their routine, temperament, walking style, triggers, favorite activities, nervous habits, and how they do around other dogs, cats, strangers, children, loud noises, or new environments. Whether your pet is energetic, shy, reactive, slow to warm up, or just very particular, I’d rather know upfront so I can care for them safely and calmly. I’m available for walks, drop-ins, feeding, playtime, companionship, and basic routine reinforcement. I’m not a professional trainer, but I’m happy to follow the commands and routines you already use. My goal is to keep your pet safe, comfortable, loved, and cared for while giving you clear updates and peace of mind. My schedule is currently flexible, especially for drop-ins and walks. I’m usually available during morning, afternoon, and evening time blocks, and I do my best to plan visits in a way that gives each pet enough time, patience, and attention. I’m also happy to discuss your pet’s usual routine so I can keep things as consistent as possible while you’re away. In a client’s home, I care for pets by following their normal routine as closely as possible. I pay attention to doors, gates, leashes, food instructions, litter areas, water bowls, and anything the owner tells me is important. I also like to know about each pet’s temperament, triggers, hiding spots, leash behavior, and comfort level with new people so I can keep the visit safe and calm. For walks, I make sure pets are securely leashed before leaving the home and avoid unnecessary interactions with unknown dogs or people unless the owner says otherwise. I’m patient with shy, nervous, excited, or slower-to-warm-up pets, and I’d rather move carefully than rush them. I’ll also send clear updates, so you know how your pet is doing.
About: I’m great with all kinds of dogs — active pups who love playtime outdoors and calm dogs who enjoy peaceful, relaxing moments. I adjust my care to fit their personality and make sure they feel comfortable and loved. I am currently working full time Monday through Friday. Anytime outside of working hours I will be open and ready to provide care! Weekends and early morning I am also available. I keep each pet’s care as consistent as possible with their normal routine. I also make sure every dog gets extra attention so they always feel safe, happy, and comfortable.
“Karina is excellent. She went above and beyond taking care of Nikki during the drop in visits. We will definitely use Karina again to care for Nikki the next time we travel. I strongly recommend Karina.”

“Lola loves her visits from Cameron. It took no time for Lola to warm up to her the first day. Cameron is very friendly and made me feel comfortable right away. She’s had animals all her life and clearly understands dogs, and shared a lot of her knowledge. I’ve used her several times in our first week.”

About: Hi! My name is Katharine, and I’m currently a social work student working toward my bachelor’s degree with a passion for helping others, which includes animals! I’ve always loved being around pets and understand how important it is to find someone trustworthy, patient, and caring to look after them. I’ve owned my dog for the past 10 years, which has given me hands-on experience with daily pet care, routines, exercise, and providing lots of love and attention. I also regularly dog sit and cat sit for my neighbors, so I’m comfortable caring for pets with different personalities, needs, and routines. I’m currently a college student out for the summer, so I’ll have plenty of time to play with your pups! I have open availability 7 days a week. I’m able to be flexible with walks, drop-ins, feeding schedules, and playtime to meet each pet’s needs. When caring for pets in a client’s home, I focus on keeping their routine as normal and comfortable as possible. I follow all instructions carefully, including feeding schedules, walks, medication if needed, playtime, and any house rules or routines your pet is used to. I make sure pets receive plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and supervision while keeping the home clean and respectful. I also provide updates and photos so owners can feel reassured that their pets are safe, happy, and well cared for while they’re away.

“Claire is a gem!! She is so compassionate and loving toward dogs. 🥹❤️ Our elder dog had Claire shaped hearts in his eyes when we got home. She took the time to sit next to him on the floor while she encouraged him to eat his dinner. 🥹🥹☺️🙏🏻 10/10 🙃”

About: I have had dogs and cats ever since I can remember. Since I was a kid, I have always taken care of them- making sure they are well-fed always, groomed, happy, and healthy! I currently have a really flexible schedule because I’m home from school and can dedicate plenty of time and attention to your pets! I’m available for overnight stay, drop-ins walks, and daytime care throughout most weekdays and weekends! Your pets safety and comfort are always my top priority! I have a loving dog and 2 kitties at home to keep them comfortable, but if they are more shy I have a large yard I can take them on walks and play in, and can house them in my large bedroom and make sure they are extremely comfortable!
About: I’ve been raised around dogs since I was an infant & they were puppies. Growing up, I was able to spend time & care for different types of dogs. I believe that with consistency, patience, and rewards (treats/toys), I would be able to train a puppy to do tricks & properly go to the potty! ☺️ I am a part-time healthcare worker that works 8 hours out of 3 days of the week, so with that being said, I would love to look after your pet on my days off! Your rules/requirements are mine as well. I’m not sure if anyone in my building is allergic to cats or dogs, but we could make some accommodations. If you would prefer care to be provided within your home, let’s discuss further on how you would like for me to look after your pet, and how to ensure that we are all comfortable and safe.
About: I am an Animal Behavior student with professional experience in dog daycare, training, educational animal programs, and wildlife rehabilitation. I have hands-on experience working with dogs, cats, rabbits, small animals, reptiles, and rehabilitating wildlife in both professional and personal settings. Through my education and experience, I have developed a strong understanding of animal behavior and body language, allowing me to recognize signs of stress or discomfort and create a safe, calm, and positive environment where pets feel comfortable and cared for. My schedule is very flexible, and I have plenty of availability throughout the week for walks, drop-ins, and pet sitting. I also work part-time in animal care, so my hours can occasionally vary, but I always do my best to accommodate different schedules and provide dependable, loving care for every pet. Your pet’s safety and comfort are really important to me. I have experience working with animals in daycare, boarding, training, educational animal programs, and wildlife rehabilitation, so I understand how important patience, supervision, and routine are. I always respect owners’ instructions and work to make pets feel safe, comfortable, and cared for while they’re with me.
“I cannot recommend Leah highly enough! Leaving my cat, Bailey, is always stressful, but Leah made it completely worry-free. Cat sitters on Rover care for your cats’ needs and can spend quality time with them, including activities like feeding, playing, and refreshing their water and litter boxes. Depending on your arrangement, you can schedule as many visits per day as your cat needs or find a sitter who can stay at your house overnight. Some sitters also board cats in their home.
House sitting can be ideal for cats who need socialization or care that lasts longer than a few hours. Your cat stays in their own home, on their own schedule, with care based on what you and your sitter agree on together.
Many pet parents provide a spare key or arrange a lockbox. You can also exchange keys during the Meet & Greet and show your walker how to use digital fobs or personalized codes. It helps to arrange access to your home, from spare keys to concierge introductions, before pet care begins.
If you live in an apartment or condo, don’t forget to discuss details like buzzer access, codes, or elevator etiquette. These details can help a pet sitter feel more comfortable going in and out of your building.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Derby. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs
- 96% can help with giving oral medications or injections

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
