“Ruth is a great sitter and we definitely plan to book with her again. During our meet and greet, she took notes to make sure no care instructions were missed. She sent updates throughout the stay so we knew all was going well. She is very communicative and reliable and we would feel very comfortable having her dog-sit for us again.”

“We were staying at Carolina Beach with our dogs, one of which has major separation anxiety especially when traveling. Lena quickly won both dogs over and kept them occupied while my husband and I could get out for a few hours. Will definitely contact her again when back in area.”

“Rachel took great care of our pups. She sent us updates with photos and took excellent care of our house as well! You can really tell how much she loves animals by how attentive she is to them. Thank you, Rachel!”

“Allen was great! I needed a last minute sitter and Allen was the perfect choice. Great communication and put up with my silly dogs with no complaints. Left my house in great condition. I look forward to having him stay with my beasties again. Thank you so much! 💜”
“Alex was absolutely fantastic with our two dogs! She was very communicative and let us know everything that was going on while we were away. I would definitely hire her again to dog sit for us again.”

“Kennedy was fantastic! This was our first time using rover and we were nervous but having Kennedy look after our 2 dogs completely put my mind at ease! She was very communicative and responsive throughout our trip and our house was perfectly neat when we returned home! Will definitely have her sit for us again!”

“Anna did a great job caring for our 6-month old puppy, Hugo, while we were out of town for the weekend! He's still in the destructive stage and needs a lot of attention and supervision, and she kept him entertained with plenty of backyard time and cuddles. Even though he can be wary of strangers, he liked her right away, and it was a relief to know he was in such capable and caring hands. It was also so nice to leave him in his space and routine, especially as a quirky rescue dog who's still settling in. We hope to have Anna back soon (especially Hugo!).”

“Katie was fantastic!!! She was great with our dog Brady and he just loved her! She took him on walks every day and kept us updated (with pictures) while we were on our vacation... She looked after things at the house and left it as if she'd never been here! We've been home for a day now and Brady keeps looking for her to come back... We would recommend Katie highly to anyone looking for a house or dog sitter, or both... We will definitely plan to use her again and I'm sure that Brady can't wait!! 5 stars and A+++”

About: I have owned a variety of animals in my life, from cats and dogs, to guinea pigs and leopard geckos! I have taken care of both cats and dogs from puppy/kitten to elderly/senior ages, and am sure to adhere to any preferences needed. I am available full time in June and July of summer 2026, so I will have plenty of flexibility during this time to take on any walking and/or petsitting jobs as needed! I adapt to preferred routines while caring for your pets as to not throw you or your pet off of routine. I am respectful of the home as well, being sure to leave things as I have found them!
“Jane went above and beyond to take care of our 2 dogs and the house which included trying to keep the plants watered and alive through the recent heat and of course this lingering drought. We went on a 2 week tour of Italy. We had never left our 8 year chihuahua mix since we had her for the past 6 years. She is a rescue and has some walking and rear leg problems so she was extra work as she is not able to walk far at a time. On top of that we have a 5 month old chihuahua puppy who being so young is sometimes a handful but also a lot of fun. Jane eased our mind sending great updates, great pics and even videos of the pups so it eased our minds not having to worry about them and it enhanced our trip greatly. If we need to be away in the future and cannot take the dogs with us we will definitely call Jane. I cannot say enough about how well she took care of the house and the dogs also. We were a little worried about how the dogs would take to a new person with us being gone and that we have never left them before. But Jane's experience showed through as the dogs became at ease with her very quickly and easily.”

“Matt was an outstanding dog sitter in our home. He had great reviews, was friendly, responsive and caring. He clearly loves all dogs. I felt very comfortable leaving in our home for a long weekend, knowing our high energy lab mix was getting great care! I will definitely use Matt again! I’m so grateful to have found him!”

“Michele once again took wonderful care of our two pups. She kept them happy and occupied. Also, she left the house in immaculate condition. We could not ask for more. Michele gets 5 stars from us.”

“Kelly was awesome!! She watched my two pups while I was away for a night and I would absolutely recommend her to others and will personally rebook in the future. We facetimed and met up ahead of time to make sure we were all a good fit, and she made me feel comfortable being with them at my place while I was away, with her knowledge experience and love of all dogs. She cared about their normal schedule, asked about any likes dislikes quirks or preferences. She gave updates and sent pics while she was with them, and they loved their time with her. Thank you so much Kelly!!!”

About: I grew up in a home with both dogs and cats and have always loved caring for animals. When I was six years old, my parents gifted me a kitten named Sophia. She became my best friend and lived to be 20 years old before recently passing away from chronic kidney disease (CKD). Caring for Sophia throughout her life taught me a lot abt what cats need to thrive, including administering subcutaneous fluids and supporting a senior pet with medical needs. I also volunteer with a local cat rescue, where I spend time caring for cats and learning about their unique personalities and needs. Since Sophia’s passing, I’ve realized how much I miss having animals in my daily life. Pet sitting allows me to share that love and care with other people’s pets while giving owners peace of mind that their furry family members are in good hands. I’m currently working full time but available everyday after 3:30/4. With the schedule I have, it allows me to still devote time to caring for your fur babies! I’m more than happy to come to your home to care for your pet so that you can enjoy your time away from home without anxiety!
“Lyndi was great! She kept us up to date with photos and reassuring texts throughout our time away. My older dog can be very anxious and shy and he warmed right up to her! We were so please with our experience with Rover and so thankful to have found such a kind, caring, and reliable pet sitter in Lyndi. We will 100% use her again and have actually already booked!”

Kelly is amazing. She did a great job taking care of our pups and kitten as well as our home! She is wonderful at communication and sent pictures daily! Her professionalism is second to none! She is kind, caring, smart, dependable and we welcome her into our home anytime!! Thank you, Kelly!

Allen and his brother Alex were some of the best sitters we have ever had! They kept our pups in our home for a week while we were on vacation. Not only did they send us daily pictures and updates- they also put away our dishes and washed and put away our sheets and towels. They are so kind and communicative. I can’t say enough good things about them!

I was so happy with the service that Marshall provided for Raven and Cronus. This was their first time with a sitter and he was patient, understanding with both them and me :) My circumstances were a little strange and Marshall was accommodating, flexible and communicative. I know that our boys were appreciative (even if they were shy) ... Hopefully we get the chance to book again and get them more comfortable!! Thank you Marshall!!!

We were staying at Carolina Beach with our dogs, one of which has major separation anxiety especially when traveling. Lena quickly won both dogs over and kept them occupied while my husband and I could get out for a few hours. Will definitely contact her again when back in area.

Once again, Thurston (William) did such a great job taking care of my senior cat! He’s so kind and always leaves everything cleaner and neater than when he arrived! My kitty just loves him!! Thurston takes extra time to make sure my boy is comfortable, well fed, and happy. Very very pleased and will continue to use him when I have to leave!

I can’t recommend Sophie enough! This was my first time leaving Lola with someone she didn’t know, and I was pretty nervous, but she made the experience so easy. She was incredibly caring, genuinely loved my pup, and kept me updated the whole time with lots of pictures. Her communication was excellent, and it was clear how much she enjoys spending time with dogs. Lola did great and I felt completely at ease knowing she was in such good hands.

Luke was absolutely wonderful with our senior dog, Mac. We were away for 10 days and didn’t worry once. Luke kept us updated daily (sometimes twice!), and from the photos, we could see Mac was happy and comfortable. He stayed in our home, took fantastic care of it, and we returned to everything just as we left it. He even went the extra mile to help get Mac to our in-laws’ house before a storm, once his sitting ended and we were delayed getting home. We knew Mac was in the best hands. We’d absolutely recommend Luke to anyone!

Mattie was fantastic! My girls were cared for wonderfully and treated so sweetly! Mattie sent me pictures almost daily, and always responded promptly if I needed to communicate while away. She additionally returned my home to me in better condition than she found it! Everything was clean and tidy. My girls were very happy with her. Mattie had an unplanned/unexpected event toward the end of her stay. She handled finding a trustworthy substitute caregiver for the girls and then contacted me with all the details, reassuring me that she would be in contact with the replacement and with me consistently over the 24-hour period. I highly recommend Mattie as a sitter, and I look forward to hiring her again in the future! My girls are absolutely in love with her!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Masonboro walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Masonboro maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Masonboro choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
