“Rachel did a great job taking care of my two senior girls! She sent lots of updates and the house looked exactly as I left it when I got home. Would definitely hire again!!”
“Michele was incredibly communicative, provided consistent updates, and knew more about Salty than I did. She’s an animal pro, and we can’t wait to have her back with Salty again soon!”

“Katie took care of our 4 dogs while we were in Europe for 10 days. She did a spectacular job of updating me (nervous dog mom) while caring for our pups. We have two older dogs that take medication several times a day and one that wears a diaper at night. She handled it all with stride and we came home to a clean house and happy dogs. I highly recommend her!”
“Andy & Erin were absolutely wonderful with our senior dog. They sent plenty of updates and were easily reachable and responsive while we were traveling. They’re delightful people in general, and Darwin was immediately super comfortable with them. We’re already planning to have them back for our next trip.”

“Cate did such a great job watching our 14 year old Pomeranian and 8 month old cat overnight at our home. They had so much fun hanging with her and she sent photo updates daily. Thanks Cate, will definitely book again!”
“Sarah was phenomenal! I really appreciated how communicative she was, she took great care of my house, and she loved/cared for our dogs like they were her own. Would absolutely book again! Thanks Sarah!”

“Abby is excellent! She took wonderful care of our 2 dogs, 2 cats and home durning an overnight stay. Our high energy, anxious and often particular doodle took to her immediately as did the rest of our menagerie. Abby communicated throughout her stay and sent many pictures and videos. We returned to a spotless home and very happy animals. Could not recommend Abby more and hope to have her house sit for us again in the future!”

“Stephanie was amazing! Our dogs are elderly and we were worried about leaving them. She sent us pictures daily of our dogs doing different activities. They were relaxed and happy. When we returned home, the house was spotless. Our pets were well cared for. We will definitely be contacting Stephanie again to take care of our sweet Boodles and George! ❤️?”

About: I have been caring for animals (outside of my own) for over 10 years. I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life and was so happy to be able to get the opportunity to help take care of and love on others’ pet family members! I have experience with all size and age range of dogs, as well as dogs with medical needs. Cats are also a plus to hang out with! In Texas, Ive been a sitter in Lubbock, and sitter, walker, and drop in in Austin, and have done walks, sittings, and drop in in Fort Worth. New to Wilmington and would love to help care for your fur babies! I currently work from home! So I’m able to pop over to others houses during the day and if a last minute pop in is needed :) My own puppies and cat I love with my whole heart! For them and others animals I ensure that I am attentive to their cues and needs, especially for new dogs I am meeting - ensuring I am respecting their cues and taking the time to build trust. With drop in services and walking services it is lots of new people meet and I love to ensure that animals are comfortable around me. Additionally I work to communicate with pet parents and make sure that I am knowledgeable about each pet’s unique characteristics and personality!
“I highly recommend Alex and will absolutely be using her again in the future. Her communication is excellent, and she keeps you updated on your fur baby by sending pictures and videos, which truly helped me while being away from my Emma. I genuinely felt she cared for my pet as if she were her own, and I greatly appreciate that.”

“Cass and Kait were so kind and lovely. Pepper was well cared for. Cass asked if we wanted pictures of Pepper throughout the time they were together, which was so sweet. We would def book with them again!”

“Sophia is so wonderful. Not only does she take such great care of our girls, but it’s such a huge relief to us knowing someone is at our house who is so reliable, trustworthy, and giving the best care and love to our girls! She communicated the entire time with us and we never for a minute felt uneasy during the time we were away. We will definitely be using her services again. I would highly recommend Sophia to anyone. Thank you so much sweetie!”
“I feel so happy to have found Melina! We had a great meet and greet, and now after returning from our trip I can say with confidence our pup has never been so pampered. Usually we can tell he was anxious to have us home, but after a week we came home to a relaxed and happy pup. I won’t hesitate to call on Melina again and again!”

About: I have always had 2 or more dogs in my family since I was a kid. I own my own dog in college and have for the past year and a half. Taking rover shifts to help me pay for grad school! Throughout high school I pet sat for neighbors and their friends and worked with old and young dogs, pets that need daily meds and special instructions. I work 2 part time jobs right now, one of them has a pretty flexible schedule. I have a few hours in the morning before work and I finish work at 7pm most days. I can play with your pup, snuggle with your pup or just vibe with them. I'll match their vibe with whatever they need. Any special instructions you may have and make your pup feel special.
“Caroline took great care of my girls and I’d definitely book again! She was very sweet with them during the meet and greet and gave me daily updates. She also left my home very clean!”

“Allen was great! I needed a last minute sitter and Allen was the perfect choice. Great communication and put up with my silly dogs with no complaints. Left my house in great condition. I look forward to having him stay with my beasties again. Thank you so much! 💜”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wilmington
Michele is an amazing person and treated our pups as her own. She stayed at our home with our two Australian shepherds and sent us updates and photos. Wonderful to have when you're away from home. She understands each animal's needs and quirks along the way. ❤️

Andy & Erin were absolutely wonderful with our senior dog. They sent plenty of updates and were easily reachable and responsive while we were traveling. They’re delightful people in general, and Darwin was immediately super comfortable with them. We’re already planning to have them back for our next trip.

Katie did a great job, adapting easily to my older dogs’ schedules and quirks. She communicated each day with photos and a few sentences about how things were going. She also dealt calmly with losing air conditioning during a very hot stretch and with my time or return being changed because of flight delays. The house, dogs, and plants all looked great when I got home.

We could not have been more pleased with Cate. Her communication was exceptional and she took great care of our sweet dog. We loved getting pictures of.Cookie almost daily and appreciated that she asked questions and took good care of our baby. When we got home, it was evident that our dog was emotionally happy and had had a good time with her. We would highly recommend.Cate for long-term stays!

Grace was an excellent sitter for our dogs and cat. She came to the meet and greet with good questions about their care and sent me frequent updates, including photos and videos. Grace also watered my garden every morning so my plants looked great when we returned. I will definitely be using her services again!

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .
As of August 2026, there are 773 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Wilmington. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.
Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wilmington walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wilmington maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wilmington choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

- 98% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
