“Michele stayed in our home with our Havapoo Mitzy for a week. She is amazing! She took her on two walks daily, played and played with her and kept her entertained. She sent pictures and a daily update of what has been going on. She watered our plants when needed and left the house as she found it. I highly recommend Michele if you don’t want to worry about anything while you are away from home!”

“Cate was absolutely AMAZING! Our two dogs, Ruca and Max, can be a handful for my fiancée and I but Cate handled them with ease. We needed to leave town rather quickly and Cate was more than gracious to accommodate our ever-changing schedule. With pictures and text updates we were relaxed about the whole process and were very pleased to have our dogs watched by her. She took them on 3 walks a day and fed them twice a day as well. She played with both of them, and upon our return home, found happy and healthy pups! We would HIGHLY recommend Cate and the Rover service to anyone in the Alameda area. Her prompt responses and flexibility only added to the amenities of this services. Thank you Cate! And looking forward to having you watch Ruca and Max in the near future!!”

“Kelly is amazing. She did a great job taking care of our pups and kitten as well as our home! She is wonderful at communication and sent pictures daily! Her professionalism is second to none! She is kind, caring, smart, dependable and we welcome her into our home anytime!! Thank you, Kelly!”

“Allen was great! I needed a last minute sitter and Allen was the perfect choice. Great communication and put up with my silly dogs with no complaints. Left my house in great condition. I look forward to having him stay with my beasties again. Thank you so much! 💜”
“Katie took care of our 4 dogs while we were in Europe for 10 days. She did a spectacular job of updating me (nervous dog mom) while caring for our pups. We have two older dogs that take medication several times a day and one that wears a diaper at night. She handled it all with stride and we came home to a clean house and happy dogs. I highly recommend her!”

“Lyndsey was an exceptional pet sitter! She took great care of all three of our pets! Communication was consistent. We were so pleased to enjoy our vacation without worrying and to come home to happy pets!”

“Brianna is like family now! I don't know what I'd do without her and my rescue, Otis, absolutely loves her. I have total confidence in her and so grateful for how she cares for my four legged child.”

“Claire took care of our elderly dog and cat for the weekend while we camped. She was communicative and quick to solve problems that popped up. We’ll definitely book with her again for future home stays!”

“Olivia was AMAZING!! Highly recommend her. She stayed at my house with my two dogs and sent daily updates with photos. She was everything I was looking for in a dog sitter. She even swept my floors before leaving which was above and beyond.”

“Our first time working with Rover and we were fortunate to have found a wonderfully patient and understanding Millie who gave great care to our senior labradoodle, princess Maya. Millie communicated throughout what activities they were engaged in and was sensitive to Maya's needs to take numerous walks and get lots of attention to assuage her separation anxiety. We highly recommend Millie to those who are looking for a high degree of thoughtful care of their four -legged family members.”

About: I have been caring for animals (outside of my own) for over 10 years. I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life and was so happy to be able to get the opportunity to help take care of and love on others’ pet family members! I have experience with all size and age range of dogs, as well as dogs with medical needs. Cats are also a plus to hang out with! In Texas, Ive been a sitter in Lubbock, and sitter, walker, and drop in in Austin, and have done walks, sittings, and drop in in Fort Worth. New to Wilmington and would love to help care for your fur babies! I currently work from home! So I’m able to pop over to others houses during the day and if a last minute pop in is needed :) My own puppies and cat I love with my whole heart! For them and others animals I ensure that I am attentive to their cues and needs, especially for new dogs I am meeting - ensuring I am respecting their cues and taking the time to build trust. With drop in services and walking services it is lots of new people meet and I love to ensure that animals are comfortable around me. Additionally I work to communicate with pet parents and make sure that I am knowledgeable about each pet’s unique characteristics and personality!
“Debbie was awesome and I can’t recommend her enough. I originally booked Debbie to house and pet sit for a couple of short trips but that turned into over two weeks of sitting due to a family emergency that extended my time out of town. Debbie took a huge weight off my shoulders by graciously agreeing to change her schedule and stay at my house for the duration. I got regular check-ins and pics of my pups which also helped carry me through a very stressful time. I will definitely book Debbie again! Thanks Debbie!”

“Stephanie is absolutely amazing. She agreed to watch our pets on short notice. She was amazing with our two cats and dog. We highly recommend Stephanie and would definitely ask her again if she would keep an eye on our pets. A+++”

“Kelsey was absolutely amazing. She was in constant communication with me while I was out of town and send me pictures the whole time. I will certainly be booking with her again! Thanks so much Kelsey!”

“Kennedy was fantastic! This was our first time using rover and we were nervous but having Kennedy look after our 2 dogs completely put my mind at ease! She was very communicative and responsive throughout our trip and our house was perfectly neat when we returned home! Will definitely have her sit for us again!”

“Excellent!!! He got on great with my dogs, and took care of them, treated them like royalty! My home was spotless, Cannot say enough great things about Matt! He really met all my needs, so I could have confidence to enjoy my vacation. Highly recommend!”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Wrightsville Beach
Katherine is by far the most kind, compassionate, and loving person, my dog Clyde absolutely fell in love with her from the start. She has taken unbelievable care of my sweet baby boy, and she gave me complete peace knowing that my boy was receiving the best care and love while I have been away for surgery. She send pics of my boy, and I could see how happy he was. I have been truly blessed to have Katherine watch my baby.

Jane was awesome! I know she had to be very patient because we have three dogs that for some reason like to get up at 5:30 am. And we also have a three month old puppy and that requires extra patience. It was great to leave our three pups and our home in trusted care while we were visiting family.

Ross is incredible. We travelled out of town for a wedding and our dog was not feeling well. Ross was amazing and kept us updated on her condition, administered medicine, and even spoon fed our pup when she was being picky. Truly an incredible sitter who is attentive, responsible, and loved on our fur baby like she was his own dog.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Wrightsville Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Wrightsville Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Wrightsville Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
