“Vivian was great! Super transparent, scheduled a meet & greet, is very organized and really good with communication. Skye is a moody Shih Tzu and Vivian was super calm with him and got along really well.”

“It’s always a bit uncomfortable to have a stranger in your home but Jenna was warm and did a terrific job with our fur babies. She was communicative, sent updates and photos and made us feel at ease. We returned after Christmas to a clean home with very happy and well cared for pets. We will definitely use her again if she’s up for it.”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better dog sitter! From the moment we met, it was clear how much She genuinely care about animals. She took the time to learn our dog’s routine, personality, and little quirks, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Throughout the stay, we received regular updates, photos, and messages, which made it easy to relax knowing our dog was happy, safe, and well cared for. It was obvious our dog was getting plenty of attention, exercise, and love. When we returned, everything was just as we left it, and our dog was calm, content, and clearly well taken care of. It’s such a relief to find someone we trust completely with our pet. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable, kind, and attentive dog sitter—and we will definitely be booking with them again!”

“Our dog has never been this relaxed while we are away! Kaitlyn kept our very attached vizsla happy and calm with daily walks and extra playtime—she even texted updates! She paid attention to all our instructions and concerns. She picked up after the dog everyday. She kept us informed of all issues and solutions. Our house was left clean and neat. Kaitlyn washed the sheets and towels and remade the bed. She took in and organized all mail and deliveries. Kaitlyn even weeded our garden. We will definitely book her again.”

“Samantha did a wonderful job looking after our kitties and fish. She was asked great questions, was careful and thorough with the feeding and cleaning, and communicated with us throughout her stay at our home. Our kitties were happy and relaxed when we came come, and Samantha left our home tidy and clean. Thank you for doing such a nice job, Samantha!”

“Nadine was an extraordinary sitter for our 3-year-old Labradoodle. We were a little nervous about leaving our pup with someone new for our 2-week international trip, but Nadine kept us posted throughout our travels of our happy dog having the best vacation at home with her new friend. Our dog has never been happier with a sitter, and we were thrilled with Nadine's quality care. She left our dog healthy and smiling, and our home spotless. Highly recommend!”

“Candace is a great communicator & took great care of our dog and our home! We really appreciate how punctual she is and her attention to details with our dogs meds. Thank you Candace!”

“So happy Amyra was able to watch my dogs again, especially over the holidays it’s hard to find a sitter. She was great with communication and sent multiple updates daily! Left the house clean and with the happiest dogs!”

About: I’ve owned dogs and cats for my entire life. I also spent about a year volunteering at a veterinary clinic when I was in high school. I work full time, but have time in the early mornings around 6am-6:30am as well as 4:30pm or later during the week. On the weekends I have very much open availability. I care for pets with a lot of love and patience. I am willing to do any necessary actions required by the owner to ensure their pet is safe and cared for.
“Amanda was absolutely amazing with Bailey! She took such great care of him and kept us updated throughout the day with messages and photos, which gave us so much peace of mind. It was clear that Bailey was comfortable, happy, and well cared for. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. We would absolutely recommend Amanda and would happily book with her again!”

“日本人の方にお勧めのシッターさんです。She is the best house sitter you could ask for. We have two crazy giant cats who had been nightmares for the past sitters. I couldn’t enjoy my vacation without receiving continuous calls or texts from them complaining about them. This is my first vacation which I could relax thanks to Yoshiko. She communicated daily with pictures and videos. She left our house cleaner than we left it for her stay also. Both of our crazy cats looked happy to see us when we got home, but they also looked relaxed. We could tell they were well taken care of.”

“Mahaam saved me in a pinch with our new kitty, Mochi. She was communicative, reliable and knowledgeable. A very positive experience and i look forward to working with Mahaam again.”

“Sarah is a wonderful house sitter to both dogs and cats. She took care of our pets for 5 days and sent us pictures everyday of them having a great time. She even left us a bottle of champagne when we came back as we just got married. I highly recommend Sarah to watch your pets. My neighbors complimented her for her great service and attentiveness to my pets.”

About: I’ve grown up in a dog loving family, from having as many as 5 dogs to being a single dog fam for a while. Always been a sucker for big dogs as i've owned alaskan malamutes, bernese mountain dogs and currently have a newfoundland. i also have had breeds like corgis and pom pom mixes and currently have a pitbull bull terrier mix & a shepsky as well! i’ve cared for neighbors smaller breeds while they’re out of town taking them on walks, feeding and just hanging out with them for periods of time. Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns! Can’t wait to meet you and your fur babies 😁🩵 My day job is super flexible so everyday looks a little different for me. The longest i’d be gone at any point in time would be 3-4 hours with a heads up as I care for my dogs as well! 😁 If thats an issue please reach out to me and we can figure something out that works best for everyone! always make sure doors and gates are closed/ secured when they’re supposed to be, i’m a very attentive and detail oriented person so I like making sure everything is as it’s supposed to be! The more instructions the better I can tailor my visit to your pets!!!!

I can’t say enough good things about Sarah and how well she cares for our dogs and our home. We have a special needs dog that is especially challenging, and she is so patient and good with him. He takes a lot of medicine and has a special feeding routine. He has been especially picky about food recently, and Sarah somehow managed to get him to eat all his meals. Both of our dogs love her, and our other dog has even been checking the guest room when we wake up in the morning to see if Sarah is still here. Sarah takes great care of our house as well. I cannot recommend her enough!

Taylor was an amazing sitter for our cat Ferg! She was super communicative and made sure we felt at ease while on vacation. They got along so well and she made sure to send updates, as well as the cutest pictures of our lil man. She even made sure our house was spotless upon leaving which was a sweet surprise to come home to. I highly highly recommend her to look after your pets, she’s reliable, trustworthy and a very sweet sitter!

It was clear that Bailey was comfortable, happy, and well cared for. We felt completely at ease knowing he was in such good hands. Nick was a wonderful overnight sitter for Mango. We really appreciated the regular photo and video updates, and he was always responsive to our messages. He took the time to bond with Mango, which gave us peace of mind while we were away. Mango clearly took to Nick, and it seemed like his routine stayed as close to normal as possible despite us being gone. Nick also left the house clean and tidy, and it was a joy to come home to a happy, well-cared-for boy. We would gladly book with him again.

We had an amazing experience! She communicated with us throughout the entire stay, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She took wonderful care of our dog, making sure he got all of his medications three times a day, and it was clear he was well loved and cared for. She also took exceptional care of our home. Everything was spotless, organized, and exactly as we left it. She even went above and beyond by washing and drying the towels and sheets before we got home, which was such a thoughtful surprise. I would absolutely book her again for dog and house sitting in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and caring!

We loved Alicia. Freya was very happy and enjoyed her time. How do I know? From pictures and how happy she was when I got home. Alicia understood to not be put off by her initial barking and got to know Freya at her pace and after the initial meeting, Freya warmed right up. I felt confident about Alicia and didn't worry at all while I was gone. Would definitely book her again.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Fountain Valley walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Fountain Valley maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Fountain Valley choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
