“May was an awesome sitter! Our two dogs took to her instantly. She provided lots of updates and pics and videos and did everything we asked. If we are ever in the area again we will def use her services.”

“Jenna was fantastic. Communicated with us the entire time, re the dog and the house. Jenna reached out to us when our dog was acting odd to check in with her concern. Thankfully it was nothing, but we were very grateful she called us. Our dog was a happy camper when we got home.”

“Loved having Catharine stay with my two dogs for a week so my family and I could travel together. She made us feel so comfortable leaving them with her and we didn’t worry about a thing. She’s so friendly and very responsive. Thanks for an amazing job. Would love to have you watch the dogs whenever we need help with them.”

“I am so glad we found Marcy! She clicked with our pets immediately, was here for one week, sent wonderful updates, and was so kind, transparent, and responsible. We came home to happy, healthy pets and a clean home. I’d highly recommend her!!”

“I really appreciated Dayna’s attention to Badger’s mobility restrictions which I was super worried about. I felt very reassured by her comments. Dayna provided lots of updates and photos throughout the pet sit. She was also great about requests like turning his music on when she left, plenty of water, etc. Badger seemed to really like her, thank you!”

“Vivian was great! Super transparent, scheduled a meet & greet, is very organized and really good with communication. Skye is a moody Shih Tzu and Vivian was super calm with him and got along really well.”

“Deena was extremely communicative and sent us so many photos of our dog, Maggie, while we were away. We felt very safe knowing Maggie was in her care! We will absolutely be booking again!”

About: I recently returned to the U.S. after 14 years overseas and can’t wait to meet some new four-legged friends! Over the past four years, I’ve had the joy of walking and caring for 25 different dogs, and I’ve loved getting to know each of their unique personalities. Although I don’t have a dog of my own right now, that’s largely because living overseas meant frequent moves and lots of travel. Instead, I’ve been lucky enough to have 25 dogs to love! 🐾 Every dog I care for is treated as if they were my own - with plenty of attention, affection, exercise, and care. I’m reliable, responsible, and dedicated to my clients, while also being flexible with my schedule. Whether your pup needs a good walk, some extra cuddles, or a little company while you’re away, I’d love the opportunity to spoil them! As I settle into my new life in Huntington Beach, finding some new furry friends is an important part of my daily and weekly routine. I also love exploring new neighborhoods, parks, and walking trails, so caring for dogs is a wonderful way to discover the area while giving them exercise, companionship, and attention. When caring for pets in my clients’ homes, I follow their routines and instructions closely so their pets feel comfortable, safe, and well cared for. I’m happy to provide walks, playtime, feeding, companionship, and plenty of affection, depending on each pet’s needs. I also make sure to keep clients updated and leave their home clean and secure. Because we currently rent, I’m not always able to accommodate pets in my own home. However, depending on the dog’s size, breed, temperament, and needs, it may be possible to arrange care in my home. I’m happy to discuss the details and determine whether it would be a good fit.
“Kristina is such a beautiful person. She was so sweet to my dogs and very kind and respectful in my home. She even straightened up my pantry and washed the sheets! We would highly recommend her and absolutely will be using her again.”

About: I’ve had dogs and cats my whole life, and caring for them has always been second nature to me. I have always been the go-to pet sitter for family and friends. I’m dependable, patient, and truly love spending time with animals—whether it’s for an outdoor stroll, engaging playtime, or relaxing together on the couch. I treat every pet like my own and always aim to make them feel safe, happy, and loved while you’re away. I work full-time Monday through Thursday, but I’m often available for evening walks or drop-ins during the week. From Thursday night through Sunday night, I’m available for overnight stays or extended visits at your home. I’m not able to host pets in my own home since I have a cat who prefers to have the space to herself, but I’m more than happy to care for your pets in their familiar environment where they feel most comfortable.
“Abigail was fantastic! Scoobie fell in love with her! She was attentive to his needs and gave him tons of loving and affection. She stayed in our home and was very respectful in keeping everything picked up and clean, while still making herself comfortable with Scoobie. We were very comfortable and relaxed knowing that Scoobie was in good hands as she was great about communicating with us and sending pictures. We definitely are using her again!!!”

“Tammy has provided dog-sitting and drop-in/walking services for me a few times now, and she always is super communicative, follows all care instructions, and sends lots of photos and videos. My dog Bowie loves her! Highly recommend her.”

About: I've house-sit for dogs for family friends and am surrounded by many people with well-loved pets in their homes. As a prior teacher to middle/high school kids, I consider myself fairly patient and understanding as a person, and that of course is included in my love for animals as well! I'm currently self-employed with a very flexible schedule since I generally work late at night (as a creative). But, I still love to find excuses to get out of the house, especially to walk and explore new areas, so would definitely love to have the company of a furry friend! Most of the dogs I've taken care of have had very particular needs for diets, or house rules from their owners, so I'm very easy to adjust to accommodate as needed. I also consider myself fairly active and healthy, so especially for walks, am happy to go as long as needed!
“Alexa was great! She was very communicative before meeting her as well as during the time she was caring for our dog. She sent detailed updates of how she cared for our dog and sent several pictures daily. Our dog actually seem to be better on leash walking without pulling after we got back home:) In addition to taking great care of our dog, she took great care of our plants and our house. We would not hesitate to reach out to her again if the need arrises. We highly recommend Alexa if you need a trusted/reliable care giver for your pet. Thanks Alexa!”

“This was my first time having Meamea stay with Charlie and definitely not my last, she was amazing! I received lots of updates with photos. The house was as clean as I left it. She's a joy to work with, very upbeat.”

“Candace is a great communicator & took great care of our dog and our home! We really appreciate how punctual she is and her attention to details with our dogs meds. Thank you Candace!”

“Hailie was great. She played with our kitty and cuddled with her. Kitty has a hard time with strangers so the fact that she warmed up to Hailie so quickly says a lot! Will definitely call on her again.”

“Jonathan did an absolutely wonderful job taking care of our two dogs and two cats while we were overseas for a couple of weeks! We received almost daily updates with photos, videos and status reports. The dogs got daily walks and all their needs were taken care of. Jonathan was super responsible and respectful; everything was spotless upon our return, and all pets were happy and healthy. Bonus: Jonathan's own pup is super sweet and was a great companion to our furry ones! If you are looking for a responsible, capable and trustworthy pet sitter, we highly recommend Jonathan and will certainly ask him back for future trips.”

Samantha did a wonderful job looking after our kitties and fish. She was asked great questions, was careful and thorough with the feeding and cleaning, and communicated with us throughout her stay at our home. Our kitties were happy and relaxed when we came come, and Samantha left our home tidy and clean. Thank you for doing such a nice job, Samantha!

This is the second time we used Jenna to watch our dog and cat in our home. she is wonderful. We got daily pictures and communication. My dog was very excited to see her! She also keeps our place very neat and clean. Such a great feeling to not have to worry about our babies while we’re gone. Totally recommend her!!

We had an amazing experience! She communicated with us throughout the entire stay, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She took wonderful care of our dog, making sure he got all of his medications three times a day, and it was clear he was well loved and cared for. She also took exceptional care of our home. Everything was spotless, organized, and exactly as we left it. She even went above and beyond by washing and drying the towels and sheets before we got home, which was such a thoughtful surprise. I would absolutely book her again for dog and house sitting in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and caring!

Mayumi and Zackary were as delightful as they were attentive to caring for our thirteen year old blind & deaf dog, Honey - I immediately felt the professionalism and attention to detail during the meet and greet. Communication was seamless and extra sweet photos of Honey much appreciated!! Will definitely book again! Cheers!
Alexa was amazing! First time using this service and impressed is an understatement! Alexa was very professional, communicative and showed our dogs lots of love and attention. She checked in several times throughout the day by sending pictures, videos, and updates. Would highly recommend Alexa and will definitely be rebooking with her.

Emma did really well with our pups. This was our first booking with her and things went very smoothly. Communication was great, and the puppy pictures were much appreciated. She was also very accommodating with schedule on short notice. We will happily rebook her for any future dog-sitting needs.

Frequently asked questions about Rover

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Huntington Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Huntington Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Huntington Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
