About: I have been around dogs my whole life. I grew up with a Labrador from the time I was born until I was around 10 years old, and since then I have had two other dogs, including a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix and a Border Collie mix. Because of this, I have experience with different sizes, breeds, and energy levels, from large dogs that need strong handling to active dogs that need plenty of attention and playtime. I have also dog sat for family and friends before, so I understand how important it is to make sure each dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for while their owner is away. I will always check in frequently with updates, make sure your dog is fed on schedule, take time to play with them, and give them the attention they need. My schedule is very flexible. I am home for the summer from UCSD and currently shadowing a doctor, but I am able to work my schedule around what is best for dog or cat sitting. I am available on both weekdays and weekends, and I can usually make most times work. I will always communicate clearly if I have something planned on a certain day, and I will make sure we figure out a schedule that works best for you and your pet. Your pet’s safety and comfort will always be my top priority. I will make sure they are cared for, supervised, and given plenty of attention while you are away. I am comfortable playing with pets, throwing tennis balls or toys, taking dogs on walks, letting them outside, and watching them closely while they are out. I will always follow your instructions for feeding, routines, walks, playtime, and any specific needs your pet may have. I understand how important it is to keep pets on their normal schedule, so I will make sure they are fed on time and cared for in a safe, responsible, and loving environment.

Elizabeth did an amazing job! This is the first time I’ve had a pet sitter. My cat had a wound and a cone and no one except my mom has ever watched my dog. So, I was a little nervous. But, Elizabeth’s sweet spirit put me at ease. She sent me pictures of my cat’s wound so I could see the progress and pictures of my dog when she walked him. She also sent additional periodic pictures and gave me updates. Elizabeth was very thorough and truly cared about doing the best job possible. My house was immaculate when I came home. Elizabeth truly went above and beyond and I’m so grateful for her!

About: I have had many years experience of taking care of many types of cats and dogs, young and old. I always ensure a thorough job well done, as a pet parent and someone who empathizes with both you and your fur baby, I do my best to make this Rover process of letting another person care for your babe as easy as I possibly can. When I have a responsibility to you and your pet, it is my main priority! My schedule works around yours. I manage my own small business, and work pet sitting. I have so much free time and much more TLC to give. While you're on vacation or a work trip, give me some work to do and let me kittysit for you. While I'm taking care of your fur baby, you'll get tons of photos of them having a good time, napping, eating, and going for walks (if they're a dog). I live in an upstairs apartment with a single roommate who owns a small male dog(neutered), and I own a male cat(neutered). I'll be watching over and caring for your fur baby in comfort and safety. Theyll have access to their food, water fountain, and their own bathroom. Your baby will be kept clean! We don't like germs or dirt. If they want company and cuddles it's always welcomed, so I make sure to maintain a healthy environment for all. I do not put animals and crates unless if I'm instructed otherwise. I do recommend bringing a little bed and toy for your pup if theyll be staying over night.

We had an amazing experience! She communicated with us throughout the entire stay, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. She took wonderful care of our dog, making sure he got all of his medications three times a day, and it was clear he was well loved and cared for. She also took exceptional care of our home. Everything was spotless, organized, and exactly as we left it. She even went above and beyond by washing and drying the towels and sheets before we got home, which was such a thoughtful surprise. I would absolutely book her again for dog and house sitting in the future and highly recommend her to anyone looking for someone trustworthy, responsible, and caring!

About: Elizabeth provides exceptional dog walking and dog sitting services. In high school Elizabeth attended animal care classes where she learned to groom and ride horses at a local stable. In addition to dogs, a wide variety of animals have shared her home over the years, including parakeets, cockatiels, turtles, iguanas, snakes, fish, cats, guinea pigs and mice. A home is just not a home without animals. Naturally creative, Elizabeth’s love of dogs and nature has also had a great influence on her art and photography. She has created logos and artwork for various wildlife and animal rescue efforts. A self-confessed dog nerd, she prefers watching nature programs and documentaries over just about anything else. Friends and family tease her about being a dog breed encyclopedia. Elizabeth loves all dogs and specializes in large working breeds. Her interests extend to puppy socialization, obedience, therapy and service dog training. A dedicated animal advocate she also has a talent for rehabilitating and developing confidence in abused and neglected dogs. She enjoys studying animal behavior. Elizabeth’s approach is sensitive and intuitive. Education, communication and channeling energies and instincts is key. She listens by tuning in with all of her senses, the way dogs do. Dogs have so much to teach us if we are willing to pay attention. She believes that human beings must have respect, compassion and appreciation for all the living creatures that share our planet. We are all interconnected. Elizabeth’s own canine companions have been loyal confidantes, soul mates and protectors. She knows they deserve nothing less in return.

FAQs for House Sitting - Sunset Beach

Frequently asked questions about Rover

The average cost for House Sitting in Sunset Beach on Rover is $71.04 per night (as of July 2026). However, all sitters set their own rates based on experience, location, and availability.

Rover makes budgeting the cost of House Sitting easy. As long as your dates and pet profiles are correct, the price you see before you book is the same price you pay for House Sitting. For more information on service fees, click here .

As of July 2026, there are 12,229 sitters on Rover offering House Sitting across Sunset Beach. Enter your ZIP code to see which available sitters are closest to your home.

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:

  • Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
  • Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
  • Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
  • Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.

The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Sunset Beach walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.

It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Sunset Beach maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:

  • Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
  • Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
  • Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.

Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!

Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Sunset Beach choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!

The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.

All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.

Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.

Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .

If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.

For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.

Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.

Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.

If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.

Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Sunset Beach. On Rover:

  • 90% of sitters can help with special care needs
  • 95% can help with giving oral medications or injections
  • 97% can help with daily exercise

You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.

Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
