“Alyssa was so great! Sent regular updates with pics/videos and she was so patient with my dog who takes a little time to warm up. Gave me peace of mind knowing he was in good hands while I was away!”

“Carla was fantastic! She is first, a great person and second, a great sitter for your furry friend. She took care of my husky like it was her own and her communication was top tier. I highly recommend her and would definitely book her again.”
“Kathryn was amazing! Winston loved his stay- playing with her dog & family. I got daily updates of how he was doing and pictures. When I picked him up, I could tell he was happy and had a great time. He ate so much better than he usually does when staying with someone he doesn’t know & she had him on a similar schedule. Would totally recommend her and will rebook as needed!”

“Shannon took such good care of our Vegas when we were out of town for a wedding. She kept us updated the whole weekend and made sure Vegas had SO much fun! Trustworthy and experienced. Thanks, Shannon!”

“Chelsie made us feel at ease leaving our puppy in her care. She is an excellent communicator with lots of love for the dogs in her care, attention to detail, and reliability. I enjoyed being sent regular photo/text updates throughout my pup’s stay to check on how he was getting along. We will be using Chelsie again!”

“Kimberly and Dylan have been wonderful with Tucker. When we leave him with them we have the peace of mind knowing he is well cared for. They take him on walks and play with him as if he was their own. Highly recommend them!”

“Paul was a terrific sitter. Paddington was very comfortable and had a great time. Paul took him on long walks and sent really nice photos at the end of the day, he also had a dog cam and you can see your dog. Lastly Paul helped us out of a bind agreeing to watch Paddington on short notice as we had an unexpected trip. Highly recommend!”

“Kristin watched my dog at the beginning and end of May, and I know Callie enjoyed her stay both times! Kristin took Callie on plenty of walks (which she loves) and sent daily updates with pictures. Kristin is the best and I will always ask her to watch my dog if she's available!”

“We couldn't have asked for a better dog sitter! Emily kept us updated with plenty of photos and messages, which gave us so much peace of mind while we were away. Gunner came home happy and clearly well-loved. It was obvious he received lots of attention, playtime, and excellent care. It's such a relief to find someone who treats your pet like family. If you're looking for a loving and reliable Rover sitter, I recommend Emily and Tarek without hesitation. We'll definitely be booking with them again. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of Gunner!”

“Sarah took excellent care of our dog! This was our first time leaving our dog, Stella, with anyone other than family/ friends. I’m so glad I found Sarah! Her home was so lovely and I appreciated getting pictures and videos of Stella playing / relaxing. We will definitely try to book with Stella the next time we’re in town.”

“Laura was a great sitter for my 4lb poodle, Weston. From the start, she was attentive, kind, and clearly experienced. Weston can be a bit timid, but he felt comfortable with her right away — which gave me so much peace of mind. She kept in touch throughout his stay with thoughtful updates and sweet photos, and it was clear he was in caring hands the entire time. When I picked him up, he was happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. I’m so grateful to have found Laura and would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for a trustworthy and loving sitter.”

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Charleston
Amanda and her husband were absolutely amazing with our high energy golden retriever puppy! Our first interaction with Ananda was warm, and full of thoughtful questions to make sure they were the best fit for our dog. During our trip, Amanda was communicative, sending morning and evening updates with photos and made us feel so comfortable, knowing he was getting the best possible care while we were away! A special shout out; our puppy is apparently a bit of a diva and absolutely refused to walk UP the stairs to their home, so they carried him every time he needed to go outside, which is just so above and beyond! We’re so thankful for their flexibility (and athleticism!!) and can’t think of anyone we’d rather leave our pup with during future trips!

Chloe was absolutely wonderful with my black lab Brewer! She took such great care of him while I was away for a couple of nights, and I felt completely comfortable knowing he was in good hands. She was super communicative, sent me pictures and updates. She has a very kind and genuine personality, and Brewer looked so happy and comfortable with her. I would absolutely recommend Chloe and will definitely book with her again! 🐾💕

Had a great experience with Amelia and Tyler. They were so understanding and flexible when it came to drop off and pick up times and we so appreciated it. They sent photos daily and I did not worry about Darcy being in their care at all. I would definitely rebook with them again.

Alyssa was so great with our golden retriever puppy!! It was our first time leaving him for the weekend and she made us feel so comfortable and made sure he was so well taken care of! He can be a ball of energy and Alyssa made sure he got enough exercise and shared photos and updates of all the fun they were having while we were away! We will definitely ask Alyssa to watch B again for our next trip!!

We were in town and needed a sitter with only a couple days to prepare. Jesse was available and very willing to take out little guy! He was great at communicating and meeting us on arrival and pickup. Grateful that Cheddar had a great stay with him and would definitely book again!

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
