About: I’ve been caring for animals of all kinds for over a decade. I have cared for cats, dogs, guinea pigs, bearded dragons, parrots, bunnies, and fish. I love animals and have a very open schedule, so I am looking to spend my time doing something i love- caring for animals! I have cared for animals of all personalities and types, and have experience handling medications and fixing invisible fences as well! Im currently a fresh grad and job searching so I can very flexible. I want to keep working while i search for my next move in life! I live in an apartment downtown, so I do not have a yard. That being said, it is better for me to house-sit than board, but I am open to boarding as i live near several parks like Marion square!

About: I am a reliable and passionate animal lover who has had pets my whole life. I currently care for my black cat, Bagheera, and my golden retriever, Duke, and I also lease a horse named French, which has strengthened my responsibility and consistency in animal care. I am highly organized, dependable with time, and committed to following all instructions carefully to ensure every animal is safe, comfortable, and well cared for. I am home most of the time or taking care of my own pets. I am available pretty much anytime during the day and any day of the week. If you are working late I am available to take your pup out or feed your cat. I have a car and assure you I will be on time for any task. I give both of my pets lots of love and attention, I love spending time with my pets and making sure they are taking care of. I am able to walk, visit, or feed any pet. Giving my pets love means giving other peoples pets love because it can be difficult not being around your pet/owner and I am here to alleviate some of that stress. I take care of my pets with diligence and will do the same for you!
“Emily and Tarek were absolutely wonderful with Zuess. You can tell right away that she genuinely cares about dogs and pays attention to their personalities, not just the routine parts of care. Zuess came home happy, relaxed, and clearly very loved. She kept me updated, made me feel comfortable while I was away, and treated him like he was her own. 5 stars <3”

“Tamara and Steven were wonderful with Lucy and took such great care of here!! They kept us updated on how she was doing and treated her like their own, would love to book again with them in the future.”

“Easy drop off and pick up! They were very accommodating. Received two pics of my pup during the day, and they took her on a big walk! I’d recommend them to other pet parents needing a sitter, and I would use them again.”

“Lucy had a nice visit and great play time with Maverick. Morgan is very flexible with drop off and pick up time when we visit Charleston and need some doggie daycare while we visit downtown. I highly recommend her for your pup.”

About: I’ve cared for dogs all my life and have extensive experience with older pups who need medication or extra patience. My home is child-free, and fenced in, and I work from home, so your dog will never be left alone for long. Whether your pup loves walks or just wants a peaceful place to rest, they’ll be treated like family here. We recently rescued a cute scruffy mixed terrier named Arthur. He LOVES all dogs so if you’re looking for companionship for your pup, he’s your guy! (Pups in the profile photo are our babies we lost in 2024 and 2025. Sitting thru Rover over the holidays helped us heal enough to adopt again in Feb❤️) Because I work from home, I’m able to give dogs plenty of attention and breaks throughout the day. I follow their normal routine as closely as possible—mealtimes, walks, meds, and all. You can count on regular updates and photos so you know your pup is happy, relaxed, and well cared for. Your dog’s comfort and safety are always my top priorities. My fenced-in yard gives them space to sniff and stretch safely, and all walks are on-leash in our quiet neighborhood.

“Christina took great care of our two boys. We received multiple pictures of their stay. She even used our ThunderShirt during a thunderstorm with Cash. We would love to use her more often if we were local. She will be our go-to sitter when we are in town.”

About: Hi! I'm Rachel, a recent College of Charleston graduate with a B.A. in psychology. I have spent the last 16 years raising and caring for dogs. Animals have always been a significant part of my life, as my family dog even helped me take my first steps. I started dog sitting in my neighborhood when I was 10 years old and haven't stopped since. One neighbor invited me over every Tuesday to meet her new foster puppy of the week, which is how I adopted my first puppy, Rocky. During my senior year of high school, I got my second dog, Sadie, who has taught me as much as I have taught her. My experience extends beyond my pets, as friends and family come to me for help with training their new puppies and to take care of their pets while they are away. Whether you have a playful puppy or a sweet senior, I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages. If you're looking for a sitter who truly understands dogs and will love your pet as if they were my own, I’d love to help! I am currently looking for job opportunities so my schedule is wide open. Let me know what works best for you and your pet, and I will be happy to accommodate your needs. I live in a two-bedroom condo with my 9y/o dog Sadie, who loves having new friends around. I also have a neighborhood dog park just a short walk away, where I take her to run around and get her energy out. We also have lots of great walking paths and parks around us to explore. Whether your dog stays with me or I care for them in your home, I can follow your routines and will prioritize their safety and comfort above all else.

About: Owned, trained, worked Giant Schnauzers 30 years. My first came directly from Germany via a Gold Certificate breeder and trainer. I specialized in search and rescue as well as disaster recovery. I miss being of service with my big boys and now care for other dogs and cats, especially those requiring speciaI attention. I am hoping to find more owners and their beloved pets who need me in the future. I am very realible, reponsive and empathetic to all the animals under my care. You can rest assured that your beloved pet will receive the best of care. I am comfortable with special needs as well as administering medications. I do not accept certain breeds including pit bulls, and Perro de Presa Canario. I am of necessity very selective of dogs that I agree to have in my home and grounds. I only board one dog at a time and prefer to do house sits or drop ins. I also am an Animal Travel Nanny. I see to it that special dogs and cats reach their travel destinations by accompanying them on the plane or car and giving white glove service to assure they reach that destination safely. I am an artist so my time is very flexible. I can tailor my schedule to fit yours and your pet's needs and requirements. If possible I can accomodate overnights in my house based on approval of the pet. I am an an artist residing in downtown Charleston with a fenced garden and privacy fence surrounding the property. I have been caring for five beloved special needs dogs with home visits, walks, and overnights in my home studio or in their private homes for seven years. I am hoping to add to my special dogs and people. I am well acquainted with adminstering medications and working with special needs. I am also considered an animal empath. When I do in home stays your dog or cat is assured to be in their familar environment. I may run out for an hour or so to pick up my mail and be sure that all is well at my home and studio and that lights are turned on or off. I always request an initial meeting to be certian I am comfortable with you as owners and your pet. Likewise I want you and your pet to be comfortable with me. I have a questionaire so that I know your and your pet's routines and habits as well as contacts for family, friends and the vet. I do not accept certain breeds and your pets must have all their vacinations, be free of fleas and ticks and also be clean. If you are working on training let me know so that I can re-enforce positively.
“My son and I were in Charleston for our spring break and Kathryn did a fantastic job of watching him while we went to Ft Sumter. It was a super simple drop-off and pickup and he had a great time!”

About: What sets me apart from other sitters is my happy and positive attitude: no one wants a grumpy, pessimistic pet sitter. I am adaptable as I am always prepared for unplanned events and last-minute changes. As I am a caretaker by nature, I show genuine concern for the well-being of pets. I am responsible and trustworthy by being reliable and honest. I have a wealth of pet sitting experience. I also have experience working with pets that have medical issues or behavioral challenges. And lastly, I am sensitive and understanding. I understand the needs and concerns of pet owners. I have plenty of time to play and care for your dog/dogs, as I work from home! Plus, I spent all holidays here at my lovely residence on Daniel Island. I treat all dogs that I care for as I treat my own fur baby, as if they were my children. I ensure that they are walked, fed, entertained, given medication as needed, and have restful sleep each evening (whether it is with me in bed, in their pet bed, or in their crate) every day. People have a tendency of saying that my dog Maggie is always smiling! I will ensure that yours will too when in my care!!
About: I have grown up with dogs my whole life and am counting down the days until I can get my own! Would love to help make yours have the best days possible with walks and endless attention! I am fully remote living in downtown Charleston and have a pet friendly house on Queen St. I am able to walk dogs several times throughout the day as well as have them over and am absolutely obsessed with dogs. I grew up with yellow labs (Blue & Roo) and am so excited to get my own in the next year! I love all dogs, and have experience rovering in NYC for years. I am happy to do whatever your pup needs to make them feel most at home!

Dog parents share their Rover experiences - Charleston
I really appreciated Dakota taking my last minute request for care for my very large dog Freya. She was not intimidated by her size and welcomed her into her apartment with her own cat and dog. Freya was very willing to go with her the following day which is the highest compliment, as she does not like leaving me and jumped right into Dakota's car. As you may expect there was a bit of last minute shuffling of schedules to make it work but Dakota made herself available to pick up and drop off Freya to make it easier for all. All and all it was a good experience for all and I'd happily use Dakota for care in the future....

Sitters on Rover can offer flexible scheduling, so you can coordinate times that work best for you and your pet—whether that’s early drop-off or later pick-up to match your Charleston commute.
If your schedule changes, it’s best to let your sitter know through the app as early as possible. Many sitters can adjust pick-up and drop-off times when needed.
Think of doggy day care as your dog’s fun, supervised play date that happens to fit into your workday. Day care through Rover takes place in a real home. This offers a calmer and more personalized environment for your pup.
A typical day can include companionship, one-on-one attention, and same day pick-up and drop-off. Many sitters can also offer structured routines and exercise throughout the day. For recurring, weekly day care, sitters will include photo updates so you can see your dog in their element.
Here are tips for finding the ideal day care fit for your dog:
- For some small dogs: In-home day care can be the perfect fit. Look for sitters whose "can host" section only lists dogs weighing 0–7 kilograms and/or 7–18 kilograms. During your Meet & Greet, ask about play areas based on dog size and energy level.
- For high-energy dogs: The ideal doggy day care can offer scheduled breaks and outdoor spaces or activities. You can also find sitters who host multiple dogs to satisfy your pup’s socializing needs.
- For dogs who prefer human-only companionship: Use the filters "Doesn't own a dog" and "Only accepts one pet at a time" to find the right care.
Play groups can be an option when you book with a day care sitter through Rover. Many sitters do host a small number of dogs at the same time. Smaller dog packs are generally safer, more fun, and ideal for dogs who enjoy playtime but also want to relax throughout the day. When looking for your dog’s pack, check the sitter’s profile to see if they "Accept multiple clients" or have their own dogs. Then during the Meet & Greet, you can see whether your dog is a good fit for their social circle!
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your dog, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.

Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
