“Bengie seemed happy and chilling in his stay with Parish. I felt confident with Parish taking care of Bengie. I definitely will book again when I need someone to dogsit bengie again. Parish was responsible and respectful.”

“Thank you Diane for taking such great care of my dog. Charlie is a skittish miniature poodle mix that does not connect with everyone. Diane made her feel at home and sent pictures. I would definitely recommend Diane and we will be using her again.”

About: Hi! I'm Rachel, a recent College of Charleston graduate with a B.A. in psychology. I have spent the last 16 years raising and caring for dogs. Animals have always been a significant part of my life, as my family dog even helped me take my first steps. I started dog sitting in my neighborhood when I was 10 years old and haven't stopped since. One neighbor invited me over every Tuesday to meet her new foster puppy of the week, which is how I adopted my first puppy, Rocky. During my senior year of high school, I got my second dog, Sadie, who has taught me as much as I have taught her. My experience extends beyond my pets, as friends and family come to me for help with training their new puppies and to take care of their pets while they are away. Whether you have a playful puppy or a sweet senior, I’m comfortable caring for dogs of all ages. If you're looking for a sitter who truly understands dogs and will love your pet as if they were my own, I’d love to help! I am currently looking for job opportunities so my schedule is wide open. Let me know what works best for you and your pet, and I will be happy to accommodate your needs. I live in a two-bedroom condo with my 9y/o dog Sadie, who loves having new friends around. I also have a neighborhood dog park just a short walk away, where I take her to run around and get her energy out. We also have lots of great walking paths and parks around us to explore. Whether your dog stays with me or I care for them in your home, I can follow your routines and will prioritize their safety and comfort above all else.
“No doubt - Mercedes is a dog lover! She took wonderful care of my dog Jake over MDW. This was our first time with Mercedes and I hope it won’t be the last! 💚”

“Paul was a terrific sitter. Paddington was very comfortable and had a great time. Paul took him on long walks and sent really nice photos at the end of the day, he also had a dog cam and you can see your dog. Lastly Paul helped us out of a bind agreeing to watch Paddington on short notice as we had an unexpected trip. Highly recommend!”

“Alyssa was phenomenal! My dog can be a bit energetic (understatement…) upon meeting new people, but Alyssa stayed super calm while my dog ran in circles around her house until she finally wore herself out. Alyssa was kind and gracious and sent lots of pictures and loved on my crazy pup like she was her own! I truly cannot recommend her enough!”

“Janine was absolutely wonderful. She is beyond knowledgeable, thoughtful, kind, and caring. She genuinely loves dogs and gives the most amazing advice and guidance for a novice puppy owner like me. Having never had anyone take care of my sweet puppy I was extremely nervous to leave her with a total stranger but Janine immediately put me at ease. I’m not sure it would be possible to find anyone else as good as she is to care for your dog.”

“Fran was great with my dog Charm when I was on my cruise she sent updates and pictures and made me feel at ease when I was away . I would recommend her to anyone looking for someone to care for their furbay I will use Ms. Fran to care for Charm”

“You can tell Kathryn loves dogs and has experience! She is so kind, responsive and flexible. I have a nervous dog but felt super comfortable leaving her with Kathryn and her family. Great back yard for the pups to play and lots of toys! Will definitely keep her in mind for the next time. Thank you, Kathryn!”

We just relocated to the area a few months ago and had to find a sitter for our baby Kiko for our trip to Spain for 12 days. Natalie was absolutely amazing! She sent us pictures and kept us updated throughout our trip. Kiko loved having a buddy, Diesel, to play with. Natalie was very attentive and so sweet. We’re so happy to have found her and feel so comfortable leaving our baby in her care.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
While each sitter sets their own vaccine requirements, staying up-to-date on your dog’s vaccines is the best way to be "boarding ready". Vaccinations help create a safe environment for all pets under a sitter’s care.
Many sitters in SC ask that dogs be up to date on core vaccines like the Canine Parvovirus, Canine Distemper, Canine Adenovirus, Bordetella, and Rabies. Cats may be required to have Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis and Rabies up to date.
By discussing your pet's health history early, you’re adding a layer of confidence for you and your sitter before the booking begins.
Emergency support is available by phone or email in English 24/7. When an incident occurs, we recommend that sitters contact our Trust & Safety team immediately so that they can connect your sitter with a board-certified veterinarian or offer other resources to help.
If a sitter needs to cancel at the last minute, Rover’s reservation protection means our team will work with you to find a suitable replacement as quickly as possible.
