“Melissa was great - she stepped in to help when our usual pet sitter wasn't able to come during my work trip. The ladies are both 20 now and have pretty extensive medication regimens and Melissa was thorough and diligent and they clearly liked seeing her each day. thank you!”

“Ashley was fantastic with our cats! She played with our outgoing cat every single day which we greatly appreciated while we were gone. Our other cat is scared of people, but by the end of things he did come out and play with Ashley which is huge. I’d highly recommend Ashley to take care of your fur babies!”

About: What sets me apart is how attentive and calm I am with pets. As a medical student, I’m trained to notice small changes in behavior, energy, or appetite and to take safety seriously while still keeping things fun and relaxed. I take time to get to know each pet’s personality and quirks, send thoughtful updates, and treat every animal like my own so you can feel totally at ease while you’re away! I’m especially great with senior pets and medically complex animals who need a little extra patience or reassurance. I’m reliable with routines, medications, and special instructions, and I always move at your pet’s pace. Currently working part time in (psychiatry) research and studying for our required national board exams. As such, I will have plenty of time for your fur family members! I prioritize safety, consistency, and making pets feel comfortable in their own environment. In a client’s home, I follow all routines closely, including feeding schedules, walks, medications, and house rules, so pets experience as little disruption as possible. I’m very attentive to doors, leashes, and surroundings during walks, and I always keep pets secure and supervised. I pay close attention to body language and behavior and adjust care if a pet seems anxious, tired, or overstimulated. I keep homes clean and respectful, send regular updates and photos, and communicate right away if anything seems off. My goal is for pets to feel safe, calm, and cared for and for owners to feel completely confident while they’re away.

“Katharyn was great. I’d recommend her to anyone looking for a cat sitter. She took care of the essentials and played and petted Humphrey. I hope she can come back!”

About: Lifelong pet lover with experience caring for both cats and dogs. I’ve fostered puppies, volunteered with dog shelters, and have been a cat dad for the past three years. I’m comfortable with pets of all ages and personalities, including shy animals and dogs who require medication. My goal is to keep your pet safe, happy, and comfortable while you’re away while providing you with peace of mind. I currently work full time Monday through Friday from 9-5pm. I am happy to work with your pets in the evenings or on the weekend. Safety, reliability, and communication are my priorities. I follow each pet’s routine closely and make sure they feel comfortable and secure while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your cat at home or taking your dog for a walk, I’ll treat them with the same attention and care I give my own pet. I also understand the trust involved in caring for your home. I’ll treat your property with respect, follow all instructions carefully, and provide regular updates and photos so you always know how your pet is doing.
“Wutt did a great job taking care of my cat. She went above and beyond for the drop in visit scooping the litter box, taking in a package and making sure my cat felt safe.”

About: I have my own dog and cat, and have taken care of animals through dog walking/sitting almost my entire life. I pride my self on trying to understand pet’s needs and make their life better. I just graduated with a Masters from the School for Environment and Sustainability and love being outdoors with animals! I take the dogs out for their daily walk La and play with the cats daily and ensure all animals are fed on their normal schedules Genuinely pets are family and get treated with respect and trust. I know they get bored and lonely and I would love to bring them a little joy while spending time with them.
“Sara was amazing and a lifesaver this past holiday! My babies loved her and we're well taken care of. She is also responsive, patient and understanding. Will definitely have her again!”
“Elayna is great! She helped us out last minute with a drop-in and even squeezed in a quick meet and greet first. She was kind and communicative. Would definitely use Elayna as a sitter again!”

About: I have owned several dogs and cats and have been responsible for caring for them for the past 10 years. I grew up on a farm, so I have experience with pigs, sheep, goats, and some horses. I also watch dogs and cats for family friends, and I love all animals! I have a hybrid work schedule and typically from home 3 days a week. I am happy to care for animals in the mornings and afternoons when I go into the office (typically 9am-4pm) and throughout the day when I work from home. I walk my dogs with leashes, and they are crate trained for the night. However, I also have experience with dogs who are trained with shock/recall collars and dogs who don’t use crates. I am comfortable with litter boxes for cats, and have no problems keeping them clean.
“Richard and Sasha were very patient with my shy cat, and she eventually warmed up to them! He was very communicative and always let me know how Mina was doing. Plus, Sasha's putting Mina in a book! Definitely recommend.”

“Magnolia was amazing, I knew my cats would be in good care as soon as I met her. I came back from my trip to two well looked after cats and I will definitely rebook with Magnolia!”

“This was our first time using Rover! We wanted an animal lover, and we needed someone we felt we could trust like family — Emily was just that. She met our two dachshunds and our two siamese cats at our meet and greet, and we knew she was a true animal lover. For this past trip, she looked after our two siamese cats for a week and even managed to earn the approval of our very territorial female siamese (few have done — even family members). She went above and beyond giving them the attention each of them needed based on their unique personalities, and gave us updates with every visit. It was such a relief knowing Emily was looking after our kitties and we didn’t have to worry about how they were doing. We hope to book her for our next trip!”

Cat parents share their Rover experiences - Ann Arbor
This was our first time with Lizz and she did an absolutely outstanding job. We have a pair of very sweet rescue cats, but they have a trauma history and that has resulted in some special needs in their feeding and care. As usual, the cats did all their usual cat things (refusing to eat, hiding etc). Then our equally finicky 1860's house acted up with a blaring wired-in smoke detector fail that further upset the cats until Lizz fixed it. Next came an epic heat dome, that descended upon the city meaning Lizz had to enact our complicated fan-cooling strategic window opening and closing choreography (since we don't have AC). The final insults was "Hazardous to Health" air quality levels sweeping into town from Canadian wildfires. Each challenge brought me to the nail-chewing brink of canceling the vacation and flying home, but Lizz's competence and solutions won me over each time. Lizz is exceptionally smart, skilled in cat herding and house issues. She is a good communicator: quickly responsive and compassionate with a nice sense of humor. She ended the cats' food strike quickly with special Lizz tricks, found all their difficult-to-access hiding places, and although these cats are hardcore fugitives; I claim they had nice expressions on their faces in the later photos (indicating they decided they liked Lizz too.) Lizz is our hands-down first choice for our next trips, even though after all of this we are possibly her last choice. Highly recommend!

Felt super comfy leaving my cats for a long weekend with Maeson dropping in! She asked great questions about my cats to get to know their preferences better. Both my cats really liked her. She was very detailed in her updates and took so many great action shots playing with our cats! I would be happy to hire her again in the future.

Hannah was great. My cat seemed happy and content when we got home and Hannah went above and beyond for us. She watered our garden and kept all our flowers alive and she brought in a package we had forgotten to warn her about. Hannah was super easy to work with too. I would use her again and feel confidant that my cat was in good hands.
Kaylee was wonderful with my cat while I was away! She was reliable, kind, and communicative throughout the booking, and she completed all of the scheduled visits. I really appreciated that she asked questions when she wanted to make sure she understood the instructions, kept me updated, and let me know right away when anything came up. She also handled a small mess my cat made and was thoughtful enough to offer to come back later to check on him. It was clear she cared about him and spent time with him, which gave me a lot of peace of mind while I was traveling. I would happily book Kaylee again and highly recommend her.

A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your cat, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
