“Lindsey did a great job taking care of our two doggies! She was very calm and patient in dealing with our anxious rescue dog who takes a while to warm up, which was invaluable. She also paid great attention to detail and was flexible when our plans changed at the last minute. I highly recommend Lindsey and will hire her again!”

“Benjamin did a really great job taking care of my dog. He arrived on time everyday. He took my dog on really nice walks - which my dog lives for :) He watched out for my dog, especially during the air quality alert days. That helped so much. Also, he took out my dog for a walk everyday before I arrived home so that I could rest when I came home. That was so helpful. That made such a difference. I highly recommend Benjamin.”

“Nick was an awesome dog and cat sitter. for starters, he responded quickly to my request, and it was easy to set up a meet and greet. He was quick to respond to my texts. He provided good care, coming back on his lunch break to walk my dog and my neighbors said they saw him numerous times walking with her. He helped her when there was thunder and when there were fireworks. He was good with my cat as my cat didn't hide from him. I asked him if he could help me figure out my new remote. He figured out it was not compatible with my TV, went and bought one that would be, and set it up! When I came back, my house was exactly as I had left it. Book with him!”

“Katharyn was absolutely amazing. She is a very kind and trust worthy sitter! I definitely recommend her!! Couldn’t be more appreciative for such a great experience.”

“Fatima took wonderful care of our 2 dogs! She sent updates and photos every day. When we returned home everything was in its place and our dogs were relaxed and happy. She went above and beyond by unloading the dishwasher and taking out the garbage as well.”

“Jessi not only took awesome care of our pup while we were away but also took great care of our home. She sent prompt updates and great photos. We came back home to a very happy pup. Would definitely be using Jessi again for future sittings!”

“Oanh is awesome. Molly loved her. She sent pictures and videos daily. She cuddled Molly and offered to due more than we asked or needed. Highly recommend her and WILL be using her again.”

“Abby was great -- warm and nurturing to our needy pup, flexible with our schedule changes, a great communicator and attentive to details. We are glad to have connected with her and we'll seek her out for future home-stays when we travel in the future!”

“Marcin was wonderful and attentive to Murphy. He communicates effectively and keeps me updated daily. I appreciate his diligence and care for my dog. Murphy was happy and calm when I got home. I will surely ask Marcin to be the sitter for Murphy again.”

“All the pets had a great time with Alexis. She sent updates, pictures and took great of the girls during her stay. The dogs got extra special walks and even the cat who is opts to hide came out for hellos and pets! We came home to happy pets and a clean house (an extra bonus!)”

“Josh was absolutely awesome - wish I could give him more than 5 stars! He was so nice and flexible when I had to change my plans around. Josh really went the extra mile in making sure our Diesel was well taken care of while we were away. A big thank you to Josh - he will be my first call the next time we need to go out of town with our best boy :)”

“Kori was a fantastic dog sitter. Our dogs were standoffish at first, but she was very patient and won them over. She took great care of both our dogs and our home, sent lots of pictures, and made us feel confident they were in good hands. Next time we go on vacation, we’ll definitely be reaching out to her first!”

About: I've been caring for pets my whole life, and have been a trusted sitter for family and friends for many years. I've also been a volunteer for the Humane Society since 2019, helping socialize and train some of the most challenging shelter dogs and cats. I have experience with large and xl dogs, senior animals, and puppies and kittens 8 weeks and older. I grew up in a family that adopted all sorts of pets, from dogs and cats to guinea pigs, horses, parakeets, and one very majestic iguana. While I don't currently have any pets since my last elderly fur baby crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I look forward to adopting again in the future from a rescue organization. I'm a freelance grant writer, which means lots of flexibility to meet your scheduling needs. I can do drop-in visits and overnights at your home, and will happily send you as many photos as you like. Your trust and your fur baby's well being are my top priorities. I always make sure to follow any instructions or rules you have for your home and pets.
“Fabulous Fabulous Fabulous with our sweet little Oakleigh. She made us feel very comfortable leaving for the weekend. We’ve never we used Rover before and we will for sure contact Beth again. I know that Beth will always be our go to sitter.”

About: I've been walking dogs and house-sitting since high school. There's nothing I love more than getting outside, and having a dog by my side makes it even better. I'm also lucky to have a beautiful home with a fully fenced yard, so dogs of all ages and energy levels are welcome. Couch potato or high energy pup — there's space for both here. Your dog will be in good hands and treated like family. I have a flexible work from home schedule and will be able to accommodate your preferred walking routine. I love taking dogs in the car to explore new areas or I'm happy to walk them around your block. Morning, midday, or evening are all workable. For boarding, I am flexible in terms of drop-off or pick-up. Dogs are welcome to board any day of the week and for any length of time. I have a fenced in yard and lots of time to spend with your pet! Currently, there are no pets in the house, but the space really is perfect for it. There may be additions coming soon! In the meantime your pet will enjoy lots of attention and care. I am comfortable following any food, medication, or treat/training routine you are currently implementing. I keep my space very neat and tidy. If I am in your space, I will of course be respectful and do the same.

Pet parents share their Rover experiences - Ann Arbor
Mar has been amazing. We were looking for someone to watch our energetic 50 lbs puppy for a week as we traveled aboard. Mar made us feel very comfortable throughout the stay and made us feel that our puppy was in great hands- which was very important for us as this was our first time to be apart from our puppy for an extended time. Highly recommend and will definitely hire again.

Marissa was so immediately kind and loving to my dog and he gravitated to her immediately. He was a happy guy when I got home and seemed well cared for. Marissa communicated well with me and took great care of the house. I will definitely be asking her to care for my dog again. Thanks Marissa.

Lucia was a huge help for us and took amazing care of our three pets (1 dog, 2 cats)! We were gone for 4 and 1/2 days and Lucia kept us updated throughout our time away from home and sent fun pictures of all our pets! She went above and beyond and vacuumed and cleaned up before leaving as well.

Josh helped us out last minute after our other sitter cancelled. He was a great communicator and so sweet with our boi Ernie. He was timely and left our house very clean which was so nice to come home to after a few days away! He also gave us a heads up about an HVAC issue so we could get a jump start on figuring things out before getting home. Would recommend and use again!

Tyler couldn't have been a kinder or sweeter person to stay at my house to watch my precious Becka. We came home to a happy dog and a house just the way we left it. The first time we met him, he instantly set my mind at ease and I had no reservations of leaving my house and my precious Becka with him. I would absolutely recommend Tyler and would not hesitate to hire him again. Thank you again.
Ezra was our first experience using Rover to hire a sitter for our favorite feline and he was terrific. Great communication - sent photos regularly too, very reliable, and considerate. He left our home in good shape, which was nice to return to. Would not hesitate to recommend him or use him again if he is free. Big thanks Ezra!

Beyond belly rubs and feeding schedules, a house sitter’s presence may provide an additional layer of security for your home. However, you will need to arrange overnight stays and other household tasks with your sitter when reaching out to them. Not all sitters offer the same services. Common household tasks you can negotiate include:
- Mail & deliveries: Collecting letters and packages so they don't pile up.
- Plant care: Keeping your indoor or outdoor garden hydrated.
- Trash & recycling: Taking trash cans to the curb on scheduled pickup days.
- Home security: Sitters can stay overnight to keep your home occupied.
The best way to align on expectations is during your free Meet & Greet. Use this time to provide a "home cheat sheet" that includes your preferred Ann Arbor walking routes, the location of your favorite pet store, and any specific quirks about your home’s security or appliances.
It’s helpful to think of house sitting as a "home base" service. Most sitters in Ann Arbor maintain their normal daily routines, like running errands or heading to the office, meaning your pet should be comfortable being alone for a few hours at a time. If your pet needs a little extra company, here is how to find the perfect match:
- Look for "WFH" sitters: Many sitters mention "Work from Home" on their profile to indicate they’ll be present for the majority of the day.
- Update your pet’s profile: Write down how long your pet can comfortably be left alone. This helps sitters quickly determine if their schedule aligns with your needs.
- Communicate 24/7 needs: Standard house sitting usually doesn't include constant supervision. If your pet requires round-the-clock care, be sure to discuss this upfront.
Tip: Use the Meet & Greet to confirm a sitter's typical "away" windows. Transparency ensures your pet stays happy and your sitter can plan their day effectively!
Key handling is entirely up to you and your sitter to agree on during the Meet & Greet or in the Rover app. Most pet parents in Ann Arbor choose to hand over a spare key or digital fob in person, while others arrange a lockbox or unique access code. Don't forget to discuss key returns as well!
The Rover Guarantee is Rover’s commitment to your peace of mind every time you book. It includes 24/7 customer support, sitter access to advice from qualified veterinary professionals for diagnostic issues, and a reimbursement program for eligible veterinary care in the rare event something goes wrong.
All bookings are backed by the Rover Guarantee , which provides up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care reimbursement.
Every sitter on Rover is required to pass a background check before listing their services. This process confirms their identity and indicates they are not on the Department of Justice’s National Sex Offender Public Website or have any disqualifying offenses.
Beyond ID checks, you can review each sitter's star rating, read verified reviews from other pet parents, and see how many repeat clients they have. Every booking is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes up to $25,000 in eligible veterinary care. For more details, visit Rover's Trust & Safety page .
If a health concern arises during a stay, your sitter is instructed to contact you and our Trust & Safety team immediately and, if needed, take your pet to the closest veterinarian. Through our Trust & Safety support team, sitters can ask for diagnostic advice from a qualified veterinary professional if your pet is showing signs of possible illness.
For extra peace of mind, you can also prepare an authorization form for your regular vet. An authorization form outlines your preferred method of care and allows your sitter to bring your pet into their regular clinic.
Every qualified booking made on Rover is backed by the Rover Guarantee, which includes reimbursement for eligible emergency vet care.
A Meet & Greet is a short introductory meeting between you, your pet, and a sitter. It can take place in person or virtually, although we recommend in-person so that your pet can get to know your sitter or the new environment. During the Meet & Greet, you will have a chance to walk through your pet's routine, medical needs, and unique quirks. Take the time to ask your sitter questions about their skills and expertise, and make sure the fit feels right for everyone. Most pet parents and sitters on Rover welcome Meet & Greets because the process can give confidence and peace of mind for service experiences, especially for longer stays or first-time bookings.
Sitters on Rover set their own cancellation policy, which you can find on their profile under their calendar availability.
Cancelling before a booking begins and before the sitter's cutoff time qualifies you for a full refund. Same-day cancellations for walks, day care, and drop-ins follow the full refund policy. Otherwise, for dog boarding and house sitting, you will receive a 50% refund for the first seven days of the booking and a 100% refund for the remaining days when you cancel the same day a booking should begin.
If your sitter needs to cancel within seven days of the booking's start date, then our reservation protection will kick in. This means our support team works with you to find a replacement sitter.
Yes, you can find sitters who have experience with handling special pet needs in Ann Arbor. On Rover:
- 92% of sitters can help with special care needs

- 97% can help with daily exercise
You can also find pet sitters on Rover who accept only one pet at a time, which is ideal for anxious puppies, kittens, or senior pets who move at a gentler pace. Some sitters will also list availability for 24/7 care, also known as constant care, in their profiles.
Use the search filters to narrow down sitters whose specific experience or environment meets your pet's needs. When reaching out to your sitter, outline your pet's care routine and use the Meet & Greet to walk your sitter through your expectations.
